Ugly abs please help!

Hi there! New to the forum but here goes! I have been a breastroke swimmer for 12 years in a team (now 18) and while it has made me lean and moderately toned, I am having a lot of trouble defining my abs. When I tense them I can get the usual 1/2 pack which is very solid, (obviously a different muscle group being tensed) then when tensing the actual abs, I sorta have a six pack but it protrudes quite heavily and leaves two 'holes' on the sides of the top two abs. I will upload a picture if it is helpful? I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what can be done to sort it out. Are there any muscles that I could train or is there a trick to properly tensing your abs? Its annoying as the 'holes' look disgusting. Thanks!

*edit* the flash of the camera doesnt show how bad the holes really look! But the abs now dont look defined at all. Nuts.

The trick is to get them big and lean enough to not have to tense them ;) you should PM chillen :) he is the abb specialist :p
 
hmm.. maybe you're lacking some muscle at the side? I know a lot of people who only seem to have the rectus abdominus sheet and no obliques, maybe getting bigger obliques could fix it, but I don't know because of the position of your two holes. I don't know if the obliques run directly beneath them.
