Ugh! What am I doing wrong?

Ok folks, here is an update. I have cut out chocolate and soda from my diet and began eating lots of fruits and veggies. I have adjusted my workout routine as follows:

Sun/Tues/Thurs - cardio (i.e. running, elliptical)
Mon/Wed/Sat if I fee like it - buns of steele tape & abs (includes a section with weights)

I gained a pound this week. WHY??? There is NO WAY I gained that much muscle in a week. And yet, I feel like my abs are a bit flatter....my jeans have been fitting great in that area lately. I still want to work on specifically my hip/butt area, although overall toning is the plan. Can anyone tell me why I gained a pound?? I'm at 129 (ick!) and I'm trying to get down to 115. HELP ME!

Wendy, don't weigh yourself. If you say your stomach feels flatter and your jeans are fitting better that should be reward enough :)

One pound is nothing to worry about. Yes, everyone, I just said that. lol... I worry too, but just remember that anything could affect your weight by one pound. If you weigh clothed, that could do it. What you ate last, water retention, glycogen levels, and full bladder or bowel... lots of things. Don't worry about it.

could be fat, could be muscle, could be fat and muscle.
No way of knowing unless you track your progress.

and by that you mean taking measurements? for the record, I always weigh myself first thing in the morning, after I have peed and stripped for my shower. Ugh. I'm so frustrated.

my understanding is that muscle weighs more than fat, maybe you've gained some muscle. don't get discouraged. i think they mean maybe try a fat caliper or something to measure your body fat rather than just a weight scale. good luck with everything. hang in there.

I personally don't have a scale for this reason. I dated a bodybuilder a few years back and he said "look in the mirror". You can tell. It seems that weight comes off as it comes on by sneaking up on ya! lol:)

dump the scales!

weighing yourself every morning and being so obsessed with it is unhealthy.

if you feel better and look better you're on the right track

so many people are obsessed with being able to say 'i weigh x amoutn' but its crap. we all weight different for different reasons.

you'll only end up depressed and that will stop your progress further. get out of the rut! enjoy being fitter and it will come in time.

Lol, I love how everyone is telling you the same thing, and you only reply to the one that tells you to do what you've been doing, in a manner that totally disregards everyone else's posts.

definately get rid of the scale :) or at least limit its use.

Also, you say you are eating lots of fruits and veggies. Which ones? Remember that some fruits have A LOT of sugar, and quite a bit of calories for that matter. while i doubt its the root of your weight gain, seeing as you are noticing a flatter stomach, just make sure to evaluate which fruits you are eating.

Fruits and veggies

Ok, so which fruits and veggies are "good" vs "not as good"??? I have been eating apples, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, green beans, peas, lettuce, um.....I can't think anymore. But that will give you an idea anyway....
