Ufc !

Ah man, you got tickets?!! Mind you, its a bit too far from the UK for me to justify the plane fare ;)

I take your point and, based on what I've seen of Randy over the years, I'm expecting him to give 110% as usual. We just need to hope its enough.

I remember Franklin's nose, totally bent out of shape thanks to that evil Muay Thai clinch! Those knees were lethal!

Matt 'Freak of nature' Hughes is always good to watch. His standup had improved last time so, I'm hoping to see that he has developed that further.

Yea I got 4 tickets for my 18th birthday. Its only like 2 hours away so I am taking 3 friends on a road trip, then party all night after. (I hear it gets crazy after)

Dont feel left out, UFC is branching over in the UK. Plus you guys got MMA magizines, you know how much I gotta pay to get those shipped here? lol

Looks like UFC 70 will be in the UK. Although, there is no fight card yet. I don't want to buy tickets if it ends up just being a bunch of unknowns.

Yea, I bet it will be a lightweight title fight though. 69 looks pretty dull, so they may make 70 big because its going to the UK. Has to be lightweight though, all other classes have just had a fight. 69 would be a waste though, like GSP cant kill matt serra lol. Mike Swick is fighting though, big fan of his.

Randy did retire, but he is coming back to fight for the heavy weight title (he said he has seen some holes in Tim Silvia's game). He was a light heavy weight before, so I think it will be interesting too see him fight up one class. I'm not a Tim Silvia fan so I want Couture too win. Buy yea, its a great fight to order.

He isn't really fighting up a class at all. Let's not forget that he was indeed a heavyweight before he went down a level and won the lightheavyweight title. I see this as an advantage for Coutoure as he doesn't have to go through the rigors of cutting weight, despite competing against a much larger man.

IMO though, UFC does not really have great heavy weights. They have the best in the world light heavy weights, and all classes under that they have the best of.

Yeah that's true, although i feel that the 185's are lacking depth as well.

Also, I would like to see him come down from 220 to 185 and fight Chuck Liddell.

Impossible! Both Randy and Chuck would have to lose a considerable amount of muscle mass for this fight to happen. Chuck is 205 pounder dude.

On the other hand, even though Silvia does not look cut or lean, I would say he is training harder than Couture. He knows couture can submit him is he goes on the ground. So I would bet money he is working on takedown defence 99% of the time when he is sparring. I'm sure he is also working on his ground game

How do you know who is training harder? Have you personally been to their camps and watched them train?...Also go back and watch Sylvia's last match against Monson, the guy just couldn't take him down at all, i'm completely convinced that Randy will have a VERY hard time taking down Syliva.

I'm not convinced about the Couture comeback. I have a horrible feeling that this is all just hyped up for the money (the paycheck will be HUGE) and that Randy may well make a fool of himself. I sincerely hope this is not the case as I'm not much of a Sylvia fan. With any luck, Randy will prove me wrong!

Exactly.

True true, his last few fights were as a lightheavyweight, so he is coming up a class from when he retired. I know this, you know this, the person I replyd to probably did not.

Franklin is good, I like anderson silva, mike swick is good stuff, I like leben alot too but he cant keep his hands up. Cant think of anymore off hand that I like.

Was talking about cro-cop dropping down to fight chuck, good call on the weight though. my bad. Who would want to see a Liddell Couture 4? haha
They can bring Shamrock and ortiz back out too...

I have seen tapes of them both train, but I get what you are saying. Silvia has a belt to defend, he has alot to lose, Randy has nothing to lose. Their training styles are alot diffrent. Randy will be trainign stand up, and takedowns, silvia will train defence and striking.

As for the Monson fight... 5'9 vs 6'8... Monson had a few takedowns but silvia jsut got back up and tossed him a right... Randy is 6 ft, so only a 8 inch diff (haha) I dont feel like looking up the reach on each of them. But if randy gets under his hands he can get the take down, hes pretty explosive on his takedowns. Just my opinion. I respect both fighters for showing up.

On second thought....Franklin, Silva, Swick, Sanchez, Scott Smith, Cote, Luter...I guess the 185's don't lack depth after all

Hmmmmmm, i think Cro crop is better off where he is, but sure, that would make for a fantastic match. Let's not forget that Couture has beat Chuck in the past.

UFC 70- England

Cro-cop
Bisping
Arlovski
griffen

the list is starting to build up, but you get a cro-cop fight atleast, looks like no title fight.

I'm a big Arlovski fan so, that alone makes it worthwhile :)

68 was awesome!! Hughes outclassed Lytle on the ground. Franklin back on form and Couture was completely dominant for 25mins straight and made Sylvia look like an amateur!

:D

Yea all 5 rounds, everyone was on their feet screaming. It was so crazy. It was the largest midwest attendance, over 19,400 people. Topped Rolling stones concert attendance at nationwide. My seats were pretty awesome too.

I was on the edge of my seat at home too! Randy looked exhausted towards the end of round 3 so, I was a bit concerned that might be a factor. Best nights fighting ive seen in a long, long time.

I dont think randy really even hurt silvia, silvia just looked frustrated, Randy made him be on defence for 5 rounds. Was like randy could see every punch coming, dodge it, and counter strike. He also proved to silvia that his takedown defence sucks lol. Good job to silvia for not getting submitted though.

Sylvia's face was a mess at the end so, Randy's consistent punching did the trick. Randy was mixing it up and keeping him guessing the entire time and like you say, he was avoiding everything Sylvia tried to throw at him. Every time Sylvia tried to avoid those punches over the top, Randy would drop and shoot for the legs - it was almost comical.

Doesn't look like I'll be attending UFC 70. £250 for the ticket (only ones left) £100 for a decent hotel & food, £20 travel plus beers on top. I simply can't justify that sort of money for a single night out! Guess I'll just have to get in earlier and book a cheaper ticket next time :(

Yea I thought about that, I'm scared for couture. It will not happen for a while though... He's next in line really if he wins the Europe fight, I can't think who else is on top of the ladder. I don't think any other heavy weights can beat Couture. I want to see him fight arlovski then crocop.

hmmmm..... now that I look at the line up...

Arlovski, CroCop, Mir, Brandon Vera  , Silvia will get another shot this year

Hmmm, Arlovski vs Couture? I wouldn't know who to cheer for!!

A draw maybe? lol
