 Please don't feel the need to read ALL the way through my diary. That's a lot of reading...just hop in where the conversation is at the time. No need in stressing yourself about trying to catch up from the very beginning of someone's diary.

LOL Thanx;)I was thinking about this...maybe I will read the first page of enteries and then glance through to see progress and such and then jump to the last pages...it is alot especially if ppl post everyday and a cpl times a day

How about setting up one or two small goals for the week? Like not snacking after supper. Or planning your meals ahead of time so you don't go overboard with the calories. Whatever you like. Then focus on those, and setting them up to become a habit (like you are doing with drinking your water:) ) That's how I started. Then the next week you can pick another goal. Otherwise, it's a little overwhelming. :)

Hi TLA :)

I've been a little self absorbed since before the weekend, and haven't gotten around to welcoming you to your diary :) I don't know if it's just me, but the color and size of your font is a bit hard to read - does anyone else have this problem?

Anyway, aside from that - GOOD for you for taking the step to get in control of your health, fitness and diet. It is NO easy task!

I have to say, reading your food choices over the weekend, it sounded like you're living out of (as my daughter calls them) fat food restaraunts ;)

That was one of the first goals I set for myself. To do it, I had to make sure I had baggies of healthy food at my finger tips for those times I was on the road. Being prepared, knowing what you can eat and what you have available to eat is a great way to avoid the trap of being hungry and hitting the first drive thru you see.

Then I took on things like dropping all soda, working on exercise etc.

It's a slow process, but taking those first little steps makes huge improvements in the long run.

Good luck on your journey :D

The fat food resturants isnt a regular thing, it just so happenned it was this weekend:S...LOL Thanx for peeking in and ya I am finding exercise just isnt enough...I need to really get real about my eating...As far as my health or habits or what have you...I dont use real sugar, I dont drink real soda and when and if I do drink pop I make sure it is diet or zero...when I eat bread I eat low carb multigrain or whole grain...and so the list goes on...obviously my eating is preventing me from moving forward with my weight loss...

Hi TLA,

Glad to hear the FFR's aren't a regular thing! It's so hard to lose weight that way!

You might check out Prevention Magazine's web site - they have a study about diet soda as a cause for increased weight gain. I've posted the article several places around here, but it's worth looking up. It was a good size study that lasted quite some time. There is a direct correlation between diet drinks inhibiting the body's ability to know when it's full/satiated.

I need to really get real about my eating

Knowing what you need to do is a GREAT place to start :)

Curves after work

I juat decided to count calories and I am beign aware of how many I am eating and serving sizes...I write it all down ina book but forgot to bring it to the comp...starting maybe tomorrow or saturday I will record my calories and grand total and such...

Looks good, how many calories is that? Just wanna make sure you're eating enough. Sparkpeople will give you an estimate of how many you should be getting a day, although I know you know that already...but I had to say it anyway. I had to really read and understand about how I was starving my body and that's why I wasn't losing weight before. Now I understand the concept of having to eat to loose. It was a hard concept to grasp, but I've got it now.

Heya Chicky...no it isnt enough calories and htat is typically how I eat which is what leads to my frustration about weight loss. I usually eat like that, except weekends are worse and exercise alot...I am working on getting in more good carbs...like I figure I need to add breads or somethign or crackers...I might start having a sandwich for lunches , that will add up my calories...And I was full after all that...I know breads adn crackers arent really good carbs but I need some not so great carbs to boost up my calorie intake...

Yesturdays eating...
Lets see...Breakfast was oatmeal and banana, snack half my sandwich and a nectorine and cawliflower and dip, snack other half of my sandwich and a oats and honey granola bar...dinner well that was a whole nother story, LOL...we splurged and had chinese food...I know, I know , I know but let me tell you it was damn good...

exercise Tae Bo
work vaccummed for 30 minute introvals and did lots of stairs...
No Curves, too tired and too sore, plus worked late and had to run to get the munchin on time...

Heeheehee...thanx...my weekends are my worse times, which is why i try to be good and balance during the week...You too have a great day:D:D:D

You said you joined sparkpeople right? In the meal planner section they give you ideas of how to meet your caloric limits, try using that as a guideline . If you don't give your body enough fuel (food) you won't loose weight or at least not consistently. "Starving" it will work for a little bit, but then your metabolism will be shot and your body will start holding on to fat because its afraid it won't get any more and even worse you'll start to loose muscle and not fat. So while the scale might go down your body won't look so great.

You might want to consider cutting back a tad on the exercise. While it's great to have that level of motivation, you can't kill yourself.

Ahhh...eating too few calories is the quickest way to hit a plateau! It seems oxymoronic, but reducing your calories too low will not help you lose weight.

It seems like you could really benefit from sparkpeople.com for awhile as you get used to figuring out what your body needs.
