Trying to lose alot of weight..

Ok, here is my story, 2 years ago about.. i was 6'2 and about 225 pounds, i had a nite job and was on no diet, but with the job i moved constantly.. and in 3 months i got down to 179 pounds. and now i gained it all back, from not having a job and not caring anymore. cause i ate fast food every night.. like 3 cheese burgers and a fry EVERY Night. i know it was bad, but now im turning my life around. today is my 3rd day.. im cutting out grease and fast food out completely.. and eating healthy stuff.. bought lunch meat to make home made subs and fruit and cut out soda's so i just drink Gatorade and 100% juice. and do about 45 minute cardio every day. with me doing it this way do you think i could get down to 200 pounds or less, while doing this im gonna try going to the gym too.

Depends on how much of that stuff you're eating. Do you layer a ton of meat on the sub, along with thick slices of cheese and a slathering of mayo, and slap it all together on white rolls or french rolls? Thats tons of calories, most of them from fat, and a ton of empty carbs on top of it. Those Gatorades? Full of sugar - over 100 calories per serving for most of them, almost as bad for losing weight as the soda you cut out. Juice isn't much better.

You're certainly doing better in terms of not sucking down grease you could measure in pounds everyday but unless you're eating very small ammounts of this stuff you're probably not running a calorie deficit - and you won't lose weight. My advice?

1) Whole grains! They don't break down as quickly as processed carbs so they're less likely to be stored as fat AND they keep you filled up for longer (meaning you eat less).

2) Get your fats and proteins from healthy sources - nuts, chicken, fish, olive oil, eggs, etc.

3) ELIMINATE THE LIQUID CALORIES! This is very important - be it Gatorade or juice, a big glass has 100+ calories that do NOTHING to provide you lasting energy. Drink water for hydration, and switch to non fat milk if you use very much of it.

4) Your body doesn't care how healthy the calories are - if you eat more of them than you burn, you won't lose weight. Period. The 100% juice is much better for you than soda - but it still packs 100+ calories a serving.

5) Think about lifting at the gym. Using your muscles will provent your body from pirating energy there instead of from fat stores (our bodies HATE burning fat - they'd rather get the energy from just about anywhere else). It also boosts your metabolism in general, and lifting hard with your biggest muscles burns a lot of calories.

well, the past 3 days, i eat about 3 servings, when i make a sub, i make it with a white roll sub, and about 3-4 slices of turkey and 1 slice of cheese, and thats it. no mayo no nothing. and been drinking 100% juice. mayb i should cut that out.. and just do strictly water... and im also gettin a treadmill today so ill be running on it for atleast 30 minutes every day plus doing sit ups and other cardio exercises

Cheezwiz gave you some good advise. You have to find healthy foods that you like to eat and you have to burn more calories than you take in. You cant live on subs for the rest of your life. This is a life change not a quick fix. I would loose the white bread and use whole wheat. Make sure it does not say enriched in the ingrediants and that it has atleast 3 grams of fiber. Good luck!
