Hi everyone, I'm 30 years old 6'0 around 210 lbs and have worked out in gyms since the highschool football days. Unfortunately my hectic schedule and crappy diet has caused me to become around 20-30 pounds over weight. This has steadily increased, a few pounds a year since my early twenties. I try and make it to the gym at least 3 times a week but I just can't seem to get any results
My routine varies, but I usually focus on two muscle groups through maybe 5 exercises. Then I either run for 15 minutes or use that gliding machine (not sure what its called but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about) for the close of my workout.
My problem is that what I really want to start doing is sticking stricktly to cardio to lose the weight, but I'm afraid that I will lose the muscle in my arms. What do you think about running for 15 minutes, then hitting the gliding machine for 15 minutes, then finishing with a round of dips and push-ups to try and get lean muscle?
I'm thinking about getting a trainer to kick my ass, but the trainers at 24 hour fitness (where I workout) are a joke! Most of them are more over weight than their clients. I just can't trust someone to give me fitness/nutrition advice who doesn't heed the same advice.
Any Suggestions?
