Trying to build a better body

Hello everyone!

My name is Bruce and my wife actually got me on this site. She talks about it everyday so I thought I would check it out. My wife is bethann1156.. great lady!! :D :D

I did the typical "I need to lose weight" New Years resolution so, I started burning the fat and eventually lost about 30 pounds and feel great! It's great having your better half on the same program.. keeps you honest!

I am now in a process where I want to build about 10-15 pounds of muscle and lose the fat weight I still have hanging around. Any suggestions would be welcomed... seriously!

Eccent... thanks! Getting ready to head back up the weight scale now. Going to try the bulking up thing and see how that goes. :eek:
 
M2M... Thanks for the welcome! This site sems very informative as well as supportive. I had my wife take a before shot last night of me and will have her take another in about 6 weeks to see if there is any visible difference. I'll post them up on here when that time comes.

Well I started incorporating more calories into my diet in the hope to gain some muscle mass. Eating a lot more protein and increased the weight at the gym.

I actually lost 2 pounds since yesterday.. guess I need to eat more protein! LOL
 
Let's see... I have increased my daily calories but only by a little bit. Taking the increase slowly. However, I am feeling more energetic while at the gym and adding some great advise I received from Steve.. hopefully this will make for a great turn around and get me where I want to be.

More to come.. I am sure! :)
 
And I apologize... I communicate with so many people on here that I can't remember ANYTHING! I need to start a file on each person, LOL.

Did you tell me what you were doing in terms of resistance training? If so, I will go back and look. If not, tell me now.

If you are going to start eating an energy surplus, you can afford to train more frequently and with a larger variety of exercises.

I am slowly increasing my caloric intake concentrating mainly on increasing my proteins. I know that my body will automatically balloon if I add too much too soon.

I am going to hit the gym today (Normal Day) and lift heavier sets and lower my reps to 4-6 and see what happens.

Most people are amazed that I actually started my diet and quit smoking on the same day and still lost 32 pounds in the process! I am feeling tons better physically from all that I have done to this point.. time to improve! :D

Last night I started a new weight lifting routine. Took Steve's advise and lowered my reps and increased my weight and I seem to have had a more intense work out. Best lift in weeks!

Also, I will never do cardio before a lift again. Again, took some good advise and did my cardio after my lift and not only did I have more energy to do my lift, I seem to have burned a lot more calories during the cardio portion.

Mixed with a healthier diet and the addition of an increased amount of proteins, I am feeling tons better and I know my wife is enjoying the visual transformation!! :rolleyes:

Hey Curvie! Yeah, she's great! I love that girl to death! We're both really jealous of your job... thinking we need to make a trip north for some wine tasting!

When I was in the Navy, I use to be stationed in Monterey! That is a great area to visit!

I meant, what exactly are you doing in the gym in terms of resistance training?
