Trusylver's Diary

I have decided not to go to the gym today my shoulders are too sore to be lifting weights today, I am going to spend time on the stationary bike instead.

we have 14 acres here but have cut down on the number animals on the property. we have 1 horse (freckles) and 1 dog a kelpie crossed with what looks like dingo called smoochy. I am on the waiting list for a Pyrenean Mountain Dog which we have been told by the breader there is a litter due in march, so in a few months i hopefully will have the breed of dog i have always wanted :D :D . I will soon have to go to the cattle sales to buy some calves to raise as dog food.

the pyr is a giant breed of dog and the breed standard only has minimum height and weight standards and will likely weigh more than my goal weight.

Rule of Acquisition 142» There's no such thing as an unfair advantage.

WOW sounds like a huge dog, make sure its going to be ok with your kids! There has been so many dog attacks on kids in the news lately, its scary!:( 14acres is heaps of land, why not grow the calves as your own meat source?Never pay butcher prices again!Do you stick them yourself or send them to the abbatiors?
I am studying to be a meat inspector, hopefully qualified in a year or so.I have learnt boning and all abbatior operations.
The best star trek quote is from worf/klingons my favorites is"REVENGE IS A DISH BEST SERVED COLD".
I know its pretty well known but I love it anyway!I like the Ferengi too, always out for a business oportunity or profit!;)

Hey Girlfriend! Thanks for the links. You're so funny. I'm such a lazy butt sometimes and forget information is just a click away.

Summertime... how nice. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see you get into the fit range. I can't wait to see myself get there too. haha.

Have a great day! Put some aloe on those burns if you have some.

I used to teach dog obedience when i lived in Canberra and the Pyr is a gentle giant so i don't see any problems with the kids. with most dogs it is the way they are raised that causes most of the problems.

I have given one steer the chop myself but i make an awful butcher lol and my hubby went very green and was sick when i started skinning the carcass and left me to do most of it on my own.

1 animal gives us enough meat for over 6 months but 2 of my three kids don't like meat, only veg. but my youngest has good taste in liking kidney, liver and tongue :)

we left it a bit to late this year to raise a pig but that is the cheapest way to get big juicy xmas hams and my weight loss is best without the large quantities of bacon 1 pig produces.

lately I just havn't had the motivation to be raising calves but with the new dog on the way the motivation is back but we will get the mobile butcher in next time to do the chop rather than the trek to the local abatoir or doing the kill ourselves.

MissJ I have the aloe spread on real thick

Great, growing your own meat will save you a lot.I am also a qualified smallgoods maker, did the course at tafe about 10yrs ago.So making bacon/ham would also be an easy cheap task!
I would cut all the fat off the bacon after grilling it on the barbie of course!
Where my horse is agisted, currency creek SA,an old couple own it and they are in retirement themselves. They raise calves every year on their property to support them in their retirement. When they are grown they have them trucked to the sales/abbatior to be sold/slaughtered.They have their house in the middle of a huge property with a square fenced yard around it.
The calves/horses,one other aged horse there with my horse, all get along well. They drink from a dam which has only gone dry once since my horse has been there in 10yrs.Its pretty much green all year round up there.
BYE!

Good morning sweetie just wanted to check on you and see how your shoulders are feeling. Hope you are doing much better. Hopw you have a great today too.

WHOA!
I think this journal could turn me into a vegan!
WHEW! I dont know how you do it girl!
sounds like you got it under control though...
Hope all is well dear!

Christina i think all come from growing up as a country girl with a greater exposure to some less than pleasent tasks than those who have spent their lives in the city. The only time I have spent living in a city was 10 years in Canberra while I was studying and met my husband. Some of the tasks involve in country life were a shock to my hubbys system because he had always lived in the city untill we moved to queensland.

sometimes i think it would be nice to live in town with a few services but I then realize that having no space around me would drive me crazy after a while.

Hey there Tru!!!
Just got through reading your whole diary....and boy do you have a full plate!!!..LOL...Alot of interesting stuff I might add.
I lived on a dairy farm with about 275 holsteins....I saw and SMELLED things I do not wish to remember...lol....
You are awesome with you exercising!!!....

rosered when I owned my information centre I actually had tourists ask about drop bears lol:D

ok... what's a drop bear? LOL
I dont think I could last too long in the bush....
I am a city girl at heart!
In the city you see things that will shock you too... Well in Chicago anyway..
I once saw a man scrapping guts off his sidewalk with a shovel, from a drive by...

Good morning sweetie just wanted to pop my head in and say hello. I love reading your journal you talk about such interesting stuff, alot admittingly I have never heard of but fascinating just the same...LOl.

What are you up to over the Christmas holidays? The kids didn’t like Harry potter… mine loved it.

Have just started cooking chrismas puddings for my toastmasters party by soaking the mixed fruit in the brandy, will do the rest this afternoon when the weather cools down.
