Touch Training

Does any body no where I can read up on touch training?
This may not be the right name for it. A friend helped my yesterday. You get your partner to stimulate the muscle you are focusing on, by pressing on it lightly as you contract.

I found that this helped me focus mentally on the muscle. Its easy with biceps and chest to focus on your own, but parts of your body like Lats and Traps I find hard to focus my energy in to the particular muscle.

I found this very very usfull with chinups, but not lat pull downs. Good with shrugs and rows.

I was wondering if this was the point of touch training, or maybe there is another reason.

Or maybe its just a Placebo
 
It is just a placebo as far as making the muscles contract. It's just making you recognize what/how you are contracting... That's why when I train my clients, I almost always have my hands on them telling them where they should feel it and every now and then 'make' them contract that muscle more effeciently...

As an example a lot of people do the seated row, but their neck muscles jump in to help, it's such a natural motion for them, they don't realize they jump up, but once I put my finger tips on top of those muscles and tell them to relax their neck, they can't believe how much the muscles 'jumped' up.
 
shhhh ;) don't think my gf will like that :p No... I knew someone would say something like that... but It's only on areas that they are struggling with, mainly the muscles that they can't see in the upper body especially if they have some muscle activation problems...
