toning my chest

toning as in defining is attained by lowering your overall body fat. You cannot target fat in specific areas. Depending on the person, you will lose fat the way you lose it.. No real choice here.
In terms of enlarging your pecs, ideal you should be stimulating the larger muscle fibers. This is done by lifting heavy weight for less reps as opposed to light weight with high reps. There are many lifting plans in and around this forum.

I agree with above. To get a "toned" look you need to have a good muscle base and low body fat. Certain exercises don't actually "tone" that muscle group.
Some exercises to strengthen your chest muscles and possibly build the pecs a bit include bench press, incline DB presses, push ups and dips.

cut down body fat to 10% or less, to stay your body size but get strong do less wiehgt but more reps and super sets here and there. to gain muscle mass do more weight but less reps. But but just droping your body fat % and doing basic workouts like sit ups, push ups, pull ups you will acheiev an all round lean looking body. Not nessisarily super ripped but lean.
