toning after serious weight loss

I have worked hard this last year and lost 70lbs but now I am having a hard time toning up the waist and back area. Help! Does anyone have advice or suggestions?

Great job on losing 70 pounds. You must have worked VERY hard.

You can't exactly "tone" a muscle. To get a look that is what most people called "toned" muscle needs to be built up and the fat that is covering the msucle needs to be shed. Are you doing any strength training? Strength training is an important part of any workout program. It burns loads of calories, keeps our muscles and bones strong, and develops a good muscle base, which gives our bodies a firm, fit look. As we age, we all naturally start to lose muscle mass. Less msucle mass equals a lower metabolism.

When you do strength training it's important to work all the muscles, not just your problem areas. If you're not strength training already and would like some help, feel free to let me know. And if I've just given you information that you already know, sorry!

Thanks

The sad thing is I know what to do but need the motivaton to do it. I have no problem doing Cardio and Leg weights but when it comes to upper body I ....Well I would rather do double on everything else. I;m do try but never can do it more then once a week.. I tell myself "No excuses you worked to hard to get where your at" but talking to yourself is easy listening harder.

Just looking for motivation. Thamk for your reply.

You've done a lot of hard work to get rid of 70 pounds, what's a little more work? If you still aren't happy with what you see, you have 2 choices: do nothing about it or do something about it.

After all you've done so far, why not go that extra mile? Maybe you just need different upper body strength exercises. That you like. That work. That you might actually stick with because you like how they make you feel and look.

You can do this. It's a walk in the park compared to shedding so much weight. Major Congratulations on that, by the way!!

Read some success stories (), hire a peronal trainer, get on a program, find workout buddies, do other upper body exercises, tell yourself that you will get a massage if you do your complete workout routine for three weeks.
