You're really good at having less calories for dinner than lunch - I always over eat in the evenings. Do you get hungry in the evening or just manage it well? Well done on your 5.6lbs - that's a great loss !

Funny you should say that as tonight I had too much for dinner! I tend to buy these low calorie ready meals that are between 300 and 400 calories and then have a light snack later on if I get hungry again, so that usually keeps me under 500 calories for the evening.

Today wasn't my best day food wise - we had family round for dinner and I overindulged on spaghetti and meatballs without thinking. Overall I totalled 1954 calories for the day, which although not disastrous is certainly not something I can keep doing if I am to achieve my goals. Just four more days until I go on holiday, so I will make sure I stay below 1600 per day and exercise as much as possible before then.

I ordered a new set of scales the other day which arrived earlier, and having tested it against my old pair, it appears the old one was off by 5.6 pounds - which incidentally is the exact amount that I've lost so far! So I am currently at what I thought was my starting weight, and my actual starting weight was 293.8lbs. A little frustrating but I have to be honest with myself and weigh myself as accurately as possible of course. Hoping to shed another pound or two in the coming days before I leave.

That's not that bad man, don't worry too much. Are you going to try and do damage limitation on hols or are you just going to relax and enjoy?

I'll probably see how it goes, will try not to overindulge but can't promise anything! I think I will be pretty active for the most part while I'm out there so I'd be surprised if I gain any weight.

Been another tough couple of days work-wise having to work into the night, but hopefully it'll be worth it once I'm on holiday. Still got a couple hours tonight before I go to bed and tomorrow will be full on too, but can't wait for a break. As a result I've not had the chance to exercise, have been really inactive this week but I guess that can't be helped.

Have eaten in the 1,700-1,800 calorie range for the last couple of days which is probably what I should be aiming for on a daily basis rather than 1,500-1,600 - was talking to someone I know who is a personal trainer and they mentioned that I might be better off eating a little more and losing the weight a little slower to make it easier to sustain during and after my journey.

Overall not too bad at all, weighed in at 285.6 this morning so I'm down a couple more pounds which is good news. Will probably weigh myself next on Saturday morning before my holiday so I can assess the damage upon my return!

Re: Scales- The same thing happened to me. I followed a very strict diet for 6 months, got down to my goal weight & gradually re-introduced different foods (a re-feed program) only to buy new scales a few weeks later & discover I was six kilos more than I thought I was. I decided to settle at that weight as I felt it was right for me.
Your PT friend is probably right about eating between 1700-1800 per day. It's something you can play around with anyway.

Weighed in at 282.6 this morning, so that's 11.2lbs lost in two weeks!

Yesterday was pretty good food-wise as I ended on 1781kcals, still got a few hours of work to do today then heading off on holiday this evening - see you all in week and a half!

I'm finally home! An amazing holiday and saw some of the best live music acts I've ever seen, but the festival has absolutely broken me. Not feeling at all well but missing work tomorrow isn't an option.

All in all I didn't eat or drink tremendously well during my trip, but hoping it was offset by a lot of walking & dancing at the festival. Will weigh in tomorrow morning and find out, then back to controlling my calories from now on!

Thanks guys - yeah it could have been worse I guess!

Ended today on 1840kcal which is a little higher than I'm aiming for, but as it is my first day back I won't be so hard on myself. Weighed myself this morning and I have gained 1.8lbs during my trip which isn't too bad. Still aiming to have lost my first stone by the end of the month which will require a little under 4lbs lost in the next 11 days - we'll see how that goes.

Looks like you were right Cate! When I came back I actually had quite swollen ankles as a result of all the walking and standing. Now I've got rid of all that water weight, I weighed myself this morning and came in at 279.2lbs, which is 5lbs less than just two days ago!

It also means that I've reached my goal of losing my first stone by the end of July which I am delighted with. Long may it continue! :)
