Tom's Loss Log

todaystheday

Hey I'm Tom and I'm trying to lose some fat (note, not "weight"). I'm in High School and yeah...I'm sure a lot of you know what that's like, especially when you're a bit overweight. I weigh about 185 with 16% bodyfat. I'm fortunate in that I don't have an enormous amount to lose, but the love handles, gut and chins have got to go:) . I'm hoping that by posting I'll have a community to be accountable to. I enjoy lifting and am planning on combining that with a decrease in calorie intake to about 1800 a day.

I'll post a new pic every two weeks or so... or just anytime I'm feeling especially good about my progress. :)

Wish me luck!

Hey, Tom, I'm Tom too! Aside from being heavier than you, I've also got about 40 years on you. :)

Good you're starting out at a young age. Believe me, it gets a lot harder as you grow older.

Plus two liters of water throughout the day

-3 sets of 15 weighted push ups (" " ")

2 mile weighted(additional 20 pounds) walk with dog...I love my dog

Hey Tom, just another Tom dropping by to say good work so far! We should start a community of Toms.

Well, Tom, I work out at home, but once school is out (2 days...can't wait!) I'm getting a membership at the local YMCA with some friends.

Today
A good day. I had my first baseball game, the first one in three years (I'm on a recreational team) but I did really well with a walk and an RBI. I got stuck with a white castle slider for lunch, which is a long story but basically it was part of a prank one of my classes pulled (involving a "crave" crate full of 100 burgers distributed among the entire class) and I really didn't know how to say I was "on a diet" and not feel really, really emberessed. Other than that I did well, with the now usual bowl of cheerios/glass of OJ, then I had a chicken ceasar(lite cesar) salad for lunch, and then a turkey/tomato/lettuce/swiss sandwich for dinner with the team after the game, and I was really happy that I didn't get a burger or anything seeing as how we were at Wendy's.

Hope everyone else is doing well, keep at it!

Does anyone know any hard drinks that aren't as hard on the body in terms of weight loss? I used to like Jagermeister and some Admiral Nelson but I've heard that hard drinks are especailly detrimental towards fat loss. Also, can anyone recommend some good "light" beers that have good flavor but also low carbs/calories? Thanks a lot. Cheers!:rotflmao:

Ok it's been a couple of days, so sorry to all two of you who check my diary:rolleyes: . Thanks for the support, it does wonders for me!

I got up early saturday morning and took my SAT for the second time, and I think I did pretty well. I did pretty well (personally) last time with about a 1950, and I'm hoping to break 2000 with this one. After that, I went to baseball and didn't do as well at bat this time, but I did get put in at second base and made a couple of good plays! Sat. night I enjoyed myself with my friends, which was awesome after having to stay in and sleep on friday. Today I went to a couple of Graduation open houses. SUMMER IS SO CLOSE!!!:jump:

On Saturday I didn't work out, seeing as how I was worn out from baseball already. Today I did my regular 3 sets each of pull-ups, push-ups, lat raises, and inverse curls(oops, as I write this I realize that I forgot pull-downs).

As far as food goes, yesterday was good, with an egg, toast, juice and a thin slice of braunsuager(is that how you spell it? Mabye the German can help me out! Thanks, Tom) for breakfast. At lunch I was at a graduation open house, and had mexican food, which I'm proud to say consisted mainly of veggies on my plate and a couple of diet sodas. Well we were there towards the end and we ended up bringing home some of the leftovers, and I had the same for dinner. Today, I had a piece of bread with a slice of salami and swiss, as well as a bout 10 blackberries and a glass of skim milk for breakfast. At lunch I was at a grad party and helped myself to 2 wrap slices, 2 cookies, one beef kabob, a small bit of pasta, and about 4 rolls of sushi. It was a bit of a splurge but it's stayed with me for six hours and I'll have something small for dinner.

It's strange; I'm actually excited to come back to school next year, when many people will see a changed me. I can't wait! Cheers to motivation!

Hey Tom! I'm Lisa (not Tom lol). It looks like you are doing well. Its good that you aren't trying to cut your calories too drastically. Some guys come on here and want to eat 1200 calories a day....1800 is a good goal. And you seem to have the weight training down too, thats something a lot of people don't really understand.

So you are a Junior in High School? and you have already taken the SAT twice?? lol wow, you are way ahead of the game. and great job on your scores! I'm not really sure about those new scores with the writing section (I graduated in 2005, the last class to not have to do the writing section), but if it is worth 800pts as well then a 1950 is awesome!

About the drinks.....look up the calories for different liquors cause that is what would matter. Its all about putting the calories for the alcohol aside for the day. I personally prefer vodka and crystal light or diet coke (or just straight shots of vodka, whiskey, or tequila. The mixed drinks may be too girly...I don't know lol. I'm not a beer drinker so I can't help you with that.

Have a great day!
