Tomble - Walking my butt off!

Hello again, all you wonderful folks!

Some of you may remember me from my past posts, there are many new members I've not seen here before (but I look forward to reading your diaries!)

Last year, up until Xmas, I was a weight loss machine, eating carefully, exercising right, feeling good and posting a LOT in here. I was doing so well, I felt that nothing was stopping me from achieving my goal.

Then, I lost my way. Work got super busy (15 hour days), other things happened, I started eating wrong again, no time for exercise and so on.

In what felt like no time, I put back most of the weight I lost. Clothes I bought in December no longer fit, I feel heavy and unfit, it's just not good.

So after a couple of attempted restarts, which failed, I am solidly back on track, losing weight, getting into the routine of eating properly, getting lots of exercise. I'm down a few kilograms now, and remembering how good I felt earlier.

So, in short, this is my new weight loss diary, and I plan to check in and keep updated again. Posting here and reading everyone's diaries helped to keep me motivated, and my lack of visiting this site was one of the things that made me forget my good habits.

I feel ashamed with myself for putting back this weight, embarrassed at my size again, and a little reluctant about coming back here and posting. Then I thought, `where else will people understand'. I know most of you here have struggled with weight for most of of your lives as I have, and I am sure you have been in exactly the same situation as I am. Heck, I've been in the exact same situation as I am now!

Sigh. I have to do it. I must write the numbers. I am 117.7 kg (258lb).

But I'm back. And in 4 months I am posting photos. Now that's a motivator.

This time I am really doing it. Woo!

Oh yes, I meant to mention that I am back into walking again as well. I have been short of time and not had the opportunities to get out and walk, but now with work pressures easing off I am walking to and from work. That's over 2 hours of walking a day, and I love it. I also got my bike back into working order this week and have started riding it again. Fun, but man those narrow seats make for sore buttocks :p

Yeah, going along pretty well at the moment! I walked for about 2.5 hours yesterday, ate properly and felt great! Exercise bonus : I saw a brilliant meteor flash across the sky as I walked.

Down .7kg this morning, yay!

Welcome back! I just came back, too, after a slight...break? We'll get it all off in no time. One step at a time, right?

Howdy Tomble,

Hello, and thanks! One step indeed. Then a couple of hundred thousand more and I'll have walked off the weight :)

I do have two, this is my new `starting again from scratch' diary. I'm right back into it now and it's great to see you're still doing well!

Alright! Soooo much walking, eating really carefully and NO SNACKING, NO SUGAR!! The weight is just falling away at the moment. I was thinking that even if I am eating 1500-1800 calories a day, if I walk to work and back that's around 1000 calories gone. So, I'm making a point of walking at least 1 hour a day.

I think my stomach has shrunk a bit already, had a dinner I would have considered moderate and month ago and I am FULL.

Congrats on a great day well done! Walking to work is a godd ideal because
you have to go to work and that will get you used to the whole walking daily
routine again.Glad to hear you are full, I still struggle at times with that.
Keep up the good work and have a gr8 Sunday tammy:)

Thanks Tammy! Walking to work is nice also because when I get there I feel awake and even if it's a cold morning I feel warm. It's better than a big mug of coffee!

Today was my ONE WEEK day. I have lost rather a lot of weight this week, which is pretty bloody awesome. I was 115.9kg (254lb) this morning! Yay!

Monday is measuring day. It's a good day to do it because I normally have friends around for dinner on Sunday night and I have a tendency to eat too much. Knowing I've got the big day following I was more careful.

Measuring day consists of the following:

I take measurements of my chest and belly, the two most visibly fatty bits of my body.

I take photographs of myself front and side on. I have worked out how to position the camera so I get almost exactly the same photo every week!

I weigh myself (but this happens every morning anyway).

This morning I had lost a little over an inch off my belly and chest! WOW! It's just noticeable in the photos, but I'm not posting those until about four months from now. A week less than four, actually.

:) Hi Tomble!!! I just found you after seeing you post in TXTurtle girl's diary. I am so glad to see you back here! :) :) You were one of the people who motivated me to get started walking and walking more, and hence exercising when I started here - a crucial change in my own life.

I'm sorry your time away wasn't good as far as weight loss went but that counts less than what you do this moment and from now on. Well done on your progress this week. :)

I love your idea with the cameras. I'm really looking forward to seeing those pics! :)

Sounds like you had a fantastic week! I'd walk to work, but it's about 10 miles each way - and to be there at 6am 2 days a week, I'd have to be up a bit earlier than I'd like. LOL

An inch off the belly and chest is fantastic! I hope my first full week goes nearly that well. Congratulations!

Thanks, Felici! I am glad to be back! Glad to hear you have been getting more exercise and I am happy to have helped with the motivation. Coming back to the boards and seeing some familiar faces still succeeding has helped me again!

10 miles each way is a bit much, you would be walking for 4 hours plus a day. Mind you, you'd get incredibly fit in no time! Thanks for the support!

Well, I just got back from a long weekend away at the beach. It's June now and that's winter in Australia, but we were fortunate enough to have a beautiful and sunny day on Sunday. I took the opportunity to go for a LONG walk along the beach, and I ended up walking for 6 hours and covering 28k (17.5 miles). I ate a bit too much junk food on Sunday night but when I weighed myself today - 115.2kg! Hooray! I've also lost a little more off my waist and chest, and now have three weeks of photos to compare. I can see a small difference already!

Taking the weekly photos has really motivated me to eat properly, knowing that I want to see progress every week and pretty keen to avoid any gains. 16 weeks till photos go online!

Congrats! Will be awesome lookin at yr pic 16 weeks later!

Are u training for a marathon or something? 28 km?! Lol.... Maybe end of 16 weeks u'll hit a full marathon distance!

Well, I sure do hope to be at my goal in 16 weeks. I'm posting the pics whether I am or not, and that's a LOT of incentive to make sure I stick to my plan!

Not in training, if I was I would be jogging, and I hate jogging :) Hurts my knees, too. But I could walk all day every day I think!

I see you're in Singapore! I've visited a number of times and I keep wanting to go back. The food is amazing.

Thanks, Felici! I try and walk at least one hour a day, and I walk pretty fast. Consquently I could have done the same walk again the next day with no problems, I think! I was even up for a walk later that day :)
