Tob's walkabout

I cheated a little too, I thought since my weight was going up and down anyways. I may as well have a piece of chocolate. I ate 1/2 bar and my son ate the other 1/2. My weight is starting to go back down today, lol. Tob it is 47 degrees here, but the wind is blowing hard. I may fix supper earlier and then take my walk. I will be having tilapia today, lol. Trying to work fish into my diet. Have you tried the bean salad it is good?

Happy Valentines Day!!

cheating is good sometimes it can make you focus on the rest of the week.
What bean salad are you talking about?

I hope your walk/run goes well. The weather is warming up here too, but yesterday the wind was INSANE!!! Gusts over 50 mph. I was out with my 4 year old twins and I had to hang onto them because the wind kept pushing them around. And with trying to walk around in the slushy muck while fighting to stay upright with that wind I feel like I pulled something in my knee. Was pretty sore last night, but feels better today.

Have a happy V day with your wife! And good luck with staying at 195 or less - great job!
Yeah it was 50* but WINDY as sin here. As for your knee that sucks. Maybe stay off it for the day?

Have a good valentine's day and dinner with your wife. The weather is great around here. 76, clear and sunny.

Thanks! nice weather... LUCKY YOU!

Perhaps do some strength training for your legs :)

Maybe on the days you're not walking, you could be doing some lunges, squats, and other exercises that target your muscles. That way you can be building your muscles to gain more stamina!?

I know what you mean! I use to find that my claves would KILL me if I walked fast for long distances! :)

Hopefully that helps!!

Now, details on this weekend valentine outing! I'm living vicariously through all you non-singles! :) :)

haha sorry! and you're totally not. you're only 25! my parents are in their 50's. haha i'm only 23. didn't mean to make you feel old :) hahahaha

and i agree with Tik. perhaps some strength training would be beneficial. you might have to give them a bit of a rest thoguh, cause they say you need to give your muscles 48 hours rest after working them out. perhaps give them a day or two off, and then start with walking and some lunges, etc? wall squats are money. good luck!

Do you do anything for stretches beforhand to warm up? When I first started out I found if I skimped there I would pay for it later with lots of pain. It helped me a lot to stretch before and after.

Actually its not the muscles its more the tendons and joints that i find are hurting me.
And well our weekend had the breaks put on because we could not get a baby sitter so we went out last night for dinner and i had... ummm ... beer battered haddock and onion rings.... oh and a small ice cream....
:blush5:

Nothing super like was wanted to do but what ever, we treat each other all the time so I guess we always have next month haha.

Yeah I think you hit the nail on the head I do a few quick stretches then im off I think I need to get some more of that in.
I love how no matter how smart I feel three woman can show my up with ease haha.

Sorry Guys hellish windstorms in my area knocked out my power. I have been cleaning up outside and we went out to eat like three times... Eeek.. haha yeah Tomorrow i am back at it hard.

Hey Tob,

I was just reading about the leg pain. Since you said it was more in the joints & tendons, I would probably cut back a bit, esp. on the running until you can walk without pain. Possibly even cut back to half your normal distance and see if you can do that consistently for about 2 weeks without pain, then very gradually increase your distance.

As for the stretching, that's a great idea, just make sure you've warmed up by walking for 5-10 mins BEFORE you stretch :)

One structure that often causes problems for walkers/runners is the IT band (iliotibial band) which is a difficult structure to stretch. If I find a good link for the stretch, I'll post it for you!
