To happiness...and beyond!

I couldn't agree with you more. The support on here is fantastic, I personally would have given up by now. This website is a god send!

Keep up the good work missy! :)

May I add how jealous I am that you have snow, lucky bugger!

Great attitude: you want to lose weight and you are focused and willing to work for it. This will get you where you want to be! Not only weight wise but also in other areas of your life, :)

Hi Tik, happy girl! I enjoy reading your massages, you are doing good! Five day skiing sounds like you are going to have some fun!!

I keep hearing about "I Use To Be Fat" and now you made me want to watch it even more! Perfecttttt…gives me something to do! I'm glad it motivated you.

You have such a positive attitude. I absolutely love it! It's contagious =)

Great job with your PT session and I know you'll kick butt in the remaining sessions for the week!

Enjoy the snow day!

Hi Tik! I hope you didn't fall down the steps :(. You are really doing great, your PT session sounds awesome! Sorry to hear about the snow. Can you believe I have never experienced snow? I've only seen it on the television and internet...I have no idea what it feels like but I imagine it must be like shaved ice. When I was little I used to think it was really soft like clouds LOL Hope you have an awesome day tomorrow. Keep up the good work!

There can be different kinds of snow. Dry powdery snow that blows around or there can be wet sluchy snow that sticks to everything and is heavy. I shovelled by driveway 5 times last year (150 feet long up hill...took me 8 hours) and I bought a snowblower the first snow storm of this year...haven't used it since. I'm sure that will guarantee it will never snow here any significant amount until I sell it.

This is my first time visiting your diary. You have so many visitors! lol you just have this pleasent, positive, radiance about your posts that makes people feel good and want to see what you are doing, and how you are so happy. I haven't read through all of your posts, but the first couple pages or so (there are so many hahahah). Doing this while doing your PhD is impressive, let alone pay for a trainer. lol i'm so jealous. I've wanted a trainer for years. you are doing awesome!!!

you have been doing amazing. and you light up my diary whenever you stop by. im glad that you are finding this forum helpful, cause we find you helpful too (awwwww, mushy lol).

p.s. congrats on pulling yourself out of bed at naptime to workout. i think you deserve some serious praise for that. lol

I had a fabulous workout today! My PT actually commented : "Wow...you're really gettin' a sweat on there!" ...I take sweaty gross'ness as a compliment! :D I feel like I'm putting a lot of effort into working out, and into making sure I keep track of my diet!! I'm proud of myself that I'm keeping at it - I've never gone this long, and done so much to work towards this goal. It feels so different this time- and I think I'm going to get there!

Last night I began a HORRIBLE addiction...I watched "Biggest Loser" ... so, I've NEVER been in to these weight loss shows, because deep down, I don't think they're promoting a healthy message, or setting people up to succeed post -show...BUT, god are they ever good...I shouldn't really say that I watched the show, it's more like I balled all the way through it like a tiny baby! But it gave me such inspiration! I sat there thinking, 'I want this!' ...so today, when I was feeling like I couldn't do some of the exercises, I dug deep and said- "I CAN DO EEET" :smilielol5: It was great!

I had some great news yesterday! I'm invited to speak at a conference over in the UK! *happy dance* ...I've never been overseas! So this is fantastic! I've already planned that i'm taking two weeks off (1 for the conference, 1 for trip travel), and taking in the UK/Wales/Scotland! (I hope I have that geography right *doh*)...but it's a fantastic goal to work towards! I want to be able to strut myself over there- I want the UK not to know what happened! hehehe

I'm not really seeing the scale progress as I would like...but I am noticing a difference! I tried a top on today that was "snug" around New Years, and it was baggy on me! And my belt - I've gone up 2 notches (and I could go a third if I wanted too!)...if felt really great noticing a difference in my clothes!

Tomorrow is a day off for us! So I have my last PT appointment before my trip! Tomorrow will make 7 straight gym days...I know that's not good - I need a rest day...but I feel it's ok because (1) I NEVER do that many days in a row, and (2) I'm going away for a week skiing and may (hopefully not) slack on the gym! I'm going to try REALLY hard not too...there's a gym in our hotel (I think just a simple one)...and I'm planning on using it!!! :) And I'm really going to try my hardest NOT to lose my good diet!!!

In fact- I'm so proud of myself- I've been having MAJOR...MAJOR chocolate cake cravings the past 3 days....and there's a giant box of brownies in my kitchen that I go past every time I get water, cook a meal...and I haven't touched them!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it...I didn't think I had that will power!!! But I'm happy...i think if I can do that, I can stick to my healthy eating on the trip!!

I'm very excited for my trip! I can't wait (although, I have A LOT of work to get done before I leave / or on my trip ... but hey, working in a hotel room on a ski hill is better than at home!!!) ... my friends and I are going down to Sugarloaf (a ski resort in Maine). We're going on a road trip there, and it'll take us about 8 days in total - with 5 skiing! I've just gotten into skiing this year, and managed to get a really great deal on equipment! (Boots, skis, bindings, poles, and a bag for $350!) ..It's going to be a great trip! And a much needed trip!! We're going to stop by a few outlet malls and do some shopping! So it should be a blast!!!

Thank you all again for all your kind comments! You all motivate me to make an effort to go out there and exercise, and to stick with healthy eating :) To be honest, I couldn't do it with out you!! Your stories are so inspirational!! :D

Wow, congrats! what will you be speaking about?
You're doing fantastic your going to be turning heads in the UK!
Have a great time on your ski Trip!
Next time you go past the brownies... give the box a glare and say, Piss off! then flick the stupid box!
you have beaten it... you're going the distance I just know it!

@Brawny: Icy in Texas?!! No way! There’s some crazy things going on with the weather lately! How are you handling the ice!? Hehehe- I imagine you never get that there! Wow! Two day comp tests? OMG! That’s insane! I have it easy, my committee has said I am to do 3 comps, and they’re all to be in the style of a publishable paper + defence…that’s not tooooo bad! It’s more comps than most people in my program do, but hey! The reward will be good :) Your doctoral work sounds very interesting! (I never yawn! I actually love hearing what others are doing- it’s amazing how much different research goes on!)…Whenever anyone asks me about mine, I’m like: You don’t want to know, it’s boring! Hehehe and yes- I should be studying! I’m amazed at how many hours I put in, and how much work I get out of it! It seems I’m NEVER ahead! :)

@Verobs: Hey! Thanks for coming by!! And congrats again on all that you’ve accomplished! You give me hope that I can do it! ?

@Tob: Any time!!! You’re doing great!! -18lbs is something to be VERY proud of! Keep at it, and you’ll be at your goal in no time!!! If you EVER need an ear- let me know :)

@Trusylver: Thank you!! I think I’ve gathered that you’re a PT as well? So that means a lot! You guys work us hard! Now, if you are a PT, are you the type that’s in their faces yelling at them, or the calm cool sensitive type? Hehe..I imagine you must have to change depending on the client!

@Sweat_Daily: Thank you!!! It means a lot when people see my positive’ness!! It’s not always that I can see it, so to be reminded of it, and that my focus and attitude are on the path to helping me get my goals- it means a lot!! Thank you again!! ?

@AnnaGail: Thanks girlie!! You’re doing awesome too!! I can’t get over how much you walk! It’s AMAZING! I think you have the walking challenge in the bag ;)

@Gohomejes: You HAVE to watch it- it’s addicting! I cry a lot during the shows…I don’t know why, but I do! Do you watch Biggest Loser? I recommend that too!! OMG!! So good! It sucks you in, then leaves you dry from all the tears! Hehe Thanks for the awesome words! Glad my attitude is contagious! Although, you have a pretty positive on yourself missy!! :) Hope you had a great day!!

@Xenon: Thanks! You’re doing AWESOME with your diet and exercise!! Girl, every time I read your diary I am amazed at how much you’re juggling!! You’re fantastic! Wow! You’ve never seen snow? You’ll have to see it some day – it’s beautiful! There’s nothing like the peaceful silence that happens when it’s snowing! Especially at night! It’s wonderful (except the aftermath of shoveling, and traffic jams….that’s not too wonderful hehehe)

@BudDude: Can I borrow it!? The sidewalks are completely covered! I had to climb over a mound of snow the size of me today!! Hehe And 8 hours of shoveling? I’m pretty sure I would have given up after 3! Hehe and I would have then invested in a snowmobile! Hehe

@Katie: Hi there! Thanks for coming by! I know- I have A LOT of visitors! I’m so lucky to have so many people rooting for me, and encouraging me!! It’s fantastic!! :) I NEVER would have invested in a trainer before- they’re expensive…but I’ve made adjustments to my budget, and it’s totally worth it! I like to remind myself that since I don’t have a car, I don’t have gas, insurance, and repair costs each month- so I totally treat myself :D You’re doing fantastic Katie! I love dropping by and seeing how you’re doing! It’s always very motivating and inspiration (awwwwww (again) Group hug! Hehehe) … As for pulling myself out of bed – I don’t know how I did that! Lol, I hope I can do it again and again!!! Hehehe Thanks again for coming by, and all the lovely things you’ve said!!!

Thanks!! And I have to say, I absolutely LOVE your advice! I'm not sure why i just don't turf them!! I think I'm holding on to them so I don't feel like I wasted money...but I'm going to get rid of them!! hehe...I don't need the temptation! I'll break one day, blank out, and wake up with brownies all over me and an empty box! hehehe...that hasn't happened to me ever, but I imagine that would be the result of chocolate deprivation!!

What am I speaking about at the conference.....err....do you really want to know? hehe...um...it's about measuring air quality using mobile devices such as GPS, and then how to integrate that data into a land-use model (this looks at how air pollution varies based on how the land is being used- so residential homes, businesses, production plants, etc.) ...this type of data recording for air pollution hasn't really been done! So I'm talking about this new approach, it's application and utility....sleepy yet? WAKE UP :) hehehehe

As for the ski trip - I'mma make you the promise that i'm not going to come home with a cast....now...lets just hope I keep it!! hehehe ;)

Well, you can bake them, eat one and drop the rest of at a local shelter! there no money wasted and you will have put more smiles on people faces.

Actually that is interesting and impressive! A Love a smart girl. for me smarts and personality are tops.. your ex was a dumb shit for losing you thats all I gotta say.

I have to ask, do you mean you are using mobile devices controlled by GPS? like remote control planes that use GPS?
No I am not sleepy at all my interest has been peaked. I love to hike and im also an environmentalist. I like to see progress in this field of study.
We all need clean air to breath!
My hat is off to you, and I have gained a whole new level of respect for you.

*slow clap*

Yeah no breaking a anything! including hearts up there. hahahaha!

p.s. i am DEEPLY jealous you get to go to the UK.

your ex was a dumb shit for losing you thats all I gotta say.
Thank you! You totally got a big smile!! I have to admit, I sometime wish horrible things on him...like herpes...or the clap...but then I like to think that the worst punishment of all is the fact that he'll be living his life without me...(sigh)...that really is a tragedy hehehe ;)

Awesome question! So what we did, was give people both a device that measured the pollution in the air that they were in, as well as a GPS device! This recorded the air quality and their location! We can match them up, and then figure out what the air quality is across our province! It's pretty neat! the devices are fairly small now- so it's not too much to wear them :)

It's great that you're into nature! so many people have lost touch with it! And the wonders that it can bring!!

PS: Pssss...don't be jealous! Some day Tob...some day you'll go!!! Just like some day I'll go back!! hehehehe

there has to be a story on that one!! LOL

did it taste like chicken!? hehehe

Awesome photos!! You look great in them!
You must be a big camper eh? I loooove camping!!

I'm excited for the summer to come and actually be fit enough to go canoe camping with friends!! :)

Haha, Yeah we went camping and only took a little food so my best friend and i decided to go find some food. we caught crayfish, and a few rainbow trout. on the way back we ween a big snake on a branch over the lake. My friend tried to grab it but it fell into the lake and he dove in after it grabbed it and threw it to me. I finished it clean and fast then we cooked it. It was really good actually. I enjoyed it. and yes it tasted like chicken.

Not so big into camping as much as just hiking.
Thanks for saying i look great. i look fat though haha. im above 200 in them. my average in 08 was about 210lbs.

yeah, you will enjoy some time outdoors. I know in spring im doing a weekend on the AT again.

Hi Tik,

You are a busy lady. Maybe the ex couldn't keep up with you-lol? If a guy is with a girl that is that revved up about everything - he better just hold on or let go. Sounds like you are better off without him. I was just looking at some of your other posts and it is so nice to see someone so full of life. You have got the world by the tail and you aren't going to let go-lol. It sounds like life is handing you many new and exciting things. I am glad! It is great when nice things happen to nice people. Congrats on everything. How is the running coming along? The sessions with the PT and the running- you are going to be skinny in no time. I just started skiing about 5 or 6 years ago. It is fun to be out in the fresh air. Besides we live in Canada- there is nothing but snow up here-lol. Time to go to work. Have a great ski trip!!
