To anyone with knee problems

I've been having knee problems for quite some time, about 4 years now. Everytime I'd get back in to exercise after a break they would just kill. I would have shooting pain right up the middle of my knee and I felt like I needed to crack it. So, I went to the chiropractor and he adjusted my foot! Whatever he did made my knee pop and my back, when I stood up it was like walking on air! I felt so much lighter! Now when I'm doing my lunges and squats I'm pretty much pain free!!!

Sorry, I had to share, I'm so excited!!!

wow thats pretty awesome. did the chiropractor say what the problem was? congratulations! great to have such pain relief!

lucky. I have knee problems also, with my left knee, and it's very frustrating. I have to tape it every time I exercise, I have to be really careful with squats and lunges, I can't run, and I have to do these exercises which are very tedious. My patella doesn't run straight up and down and I have a really weak Vastus Medialis, and I have to strengthen up my quads as well. I wish it would just go away! grr

i started working out with a personal trainer to help streamline the HUGE amount of wierd exercises I was receiving from the doctor and the physical therapist which would take forever and make my workout super boring. i'm still going to physical therapy of course though, and reviewed my routine with the therapist there, she agreed it was a more streamlined routine. i do try and stretch the hamstrings, IT bands, foam roll the IT bands heavily, and do things as directed by the therapist and trainer to strengthen my vastus medialis as well. its _kinda_ helping a little, but this problem has gone on for months. no immediate fix as noted by the first poster, but a little improvement. hope that helps!

yeah. I just hope it's not going to be there forever. I do want to be able to exercise without strapping again some time lol!

they told me to do straight leg raises, one leg at a time, as well as strengthening the hip muscles by doing hip abduction, adduction, extension and flexion.

What exercises did they give you for your vastus medialis?
Um I have to stand on a step or something and tense up my left knee, slowly lower the other leg, then come back up, and do that heaps and heaps of times, then she basically said you just have to strengthen your whole quad muscle group, so she told me to swim and cycle and stuff, things that strengthen the muscle but don't have much impact on the knee.
