to all fat cells: i hate you.

my current goal is to lose 20lbs. (about 10% of my body weight) and i was wondering, is it too much to hope for to want to lose 10lbs by the begining of september? i know i want to get down to 160 in the long run, but for now i'll stick with small goals.

I'd say work it out on a max of 2 pounds a week, otherwise you'll be running more of a risk to put it back on!

So by beginning of September, one month from now, 8 pounds is doable. So is 10 and seeing it's your first month and most seem to lose a lot in the first month, so I say GO FOR THE BIG TEN!

:hurray:

you know what i've noticed? whenever i diet, i realize that i'm hardly ever hungry. i was so paranoid about being too hungry i bought a bunh of salad and fruit and other diet stuff, and i've hardly touched them! maybe my appetite with increase as i get used to the diet

No matter how tempted you are though, don't skip meals, and don't eat too little!

Just looking out for ya! :)

I was looking at your goals and I would suggest changing one word in all of them. Rather than the word want choose the word will.

Something about the changing of that one word will make your goals more powerful and gives your more of a sense of accountability.

Good luck with your journey.

thanks you guys for all the help and advice! i love this forum! i'm heading to karate classes, the test is the 21st!! i might get my green belt!! (the belt before brown and black) well anyway, i really posted here to say that i haven't gone over my daily points target once! i know, i know, it's only been like three days, but i'm excited! i've been drinking about five 24oz bottles of water every day! i haven't been forcing myself either, i've just kept a water bottle within arms reach the whole time. i've gotta go, talk to you later!

i would like to add that i had a mini veggie omlette for breakfast at the same place i got the giant german omlette. and you know what? it was really good!:Dalso, i have cut out all pop. i have nothing against it in moderation, but it's easier to totally cut it out instead of ending up drinking too much. (i tend to go overboard with the coca-cola!) and this isn't really a diary anymore. it's more like a notebook to write down my thoughts, which is pretty awesome!:willy_nilly:

As I understand, it's gets more difficult after 35.

You're still really young, so don't worry! Another alternative to keep track is to figure out how many portions of what kinds of foods you should be eating every day and creating a checklist... then you just tick off as you go along! I have a template I could mail to you...?

Really??? Damn that gym girl 4 years ago hehe.
I never really looked into when things will get harder as far as body change goes but I remeber her words " After you're 18, to change your body will be so much more harder so do it now".

Darn!! hheheh good to know I still got time.

you guys probably thought i dropped off the face of the earth! well, i haven't (yet), and as of last thursday, i have lost 5 pounds!

the meetings at weight watchers are awesome! there's always a couple funny stories that get told at each meeting, and lots of really good tips from fellow dieters. it kind of seems like the other mebers are helping me more than my leader. (but don't tell her that!) since thursday i've been dipping into my weekly points allowance, but not more than one or two points every few days, so that shouldn't make much of a difference. what's weird is that my normal meeting day is tuesday, but i was out of town last tuesdy. so intead i went to the tursday meeting. i'm thinking that extra two days, plus the fact that i weighed in the moring thursday contributed to the somewhat large weekly weight loss. i'm hoping for maybe another pound by tuesday.

Awesome! Well done!

Ye, those things could have made an impact... but so could a gazillion other things, so why worry?

Glad you are zooming along your path of weightloss! Keep it up! :hurray:

haha! as of yesterday, i've lost 5.6 pounds total! it wasn't a whole pound, but 6 tenths isn't bad. tonight is my last night of karate before the test thursday!! the only thing i'm not sure i'll pass is the 60-second sidekick. you have to hold your leg straight, and parallel to the floor, while hoding your foot so that the side of it would be the point of impact. you can't bend your leg or let your head drop to waist level, and you have to hold this position for 60 seconds each leg. i can do it with my right leg, but i can barely last 30 seconds with my left... i hope my judges are leaniant.

Hey! Well done, you're making GREAT progress!!!

Good luck for the karate test... and that (trusty) sidekick, teehee :waving:

I’ve been reading this book, “Tales From the Scale,” and I just wanted to post a few quotes from it that I love.

“Many of the most virulent stereotypes about women in general have not been discarded but merely transferred, so that negative qualities once attributed to all women are now considered the sole province of fat women.” - W. Charisse Goodman

“Eat… to live, and do not live to eat.” - William Penn

“I keep trying to lose weight… but it keeps finding me!” - Author Unknown

“According to diet lore, 'indulging' or 'giving in to temptation' is a 'sin'. Strangling a few people is a sin. Invading East Timor is a sin. Ethnic cleansing is a sin. Testing nuclear weapons in the Pacific is a sin. I'm sorry, but eating doesn't quite make the grade.” - Kaz Cooke

“My idea of exercise is a good brisk sit.” - Phyllis Diller

“I have to exercise in the morning before my brain figure out what I’m doing.” - Marsha Doble

There’s a lot more, but I’m tired, so I’m going to bed…
