This UFC was just downright disappointing and pretty boring, i thought it was gonna be something worth inviting a bunch of people over for, but we just eneded up making fun of the fighters, they were doing more hugging than fighting, and the ref just pissed me off in the tito shamrock fight, although im surprised shamrock, wasnt even trying to block him.

Agreed, best fight of the night was Stevenson vs Edwards - bloodiest fight I've seen for ages but, was a pretty good match. Thought Arlovski should have got the decision but, only by a whisker, I was disappointed with his performance, he should have worked the leg more early on.
Evo is right, Shamrock has saved face a bit. hope there will be a rematch though so Tito can do the job properly

I'm new to these threads, but I have to comment on the UFC and the Shamrock, Ortis fight!
Been around since the first Ultimate Fighting, and back in the day Shamrock was one hell of a fighter. But back then there weren't so many rules, quick stoppages and the like.
Ken isn't to old, he is not focused. I have been in the Martial Arts for going on 33 years now, so I know a little on the subject. Ortis is a different kind of fighter, and Ken should know that. If you throw two guys in a ring and have them drop elbows on each other, and then call that Martial Arts I have to laugh!
Shamrock would be better off to go all out right away, but he is a defensive fighter and thats hard to break. Ortis or Shamrock wouldn't last 30 seconds with a true Master of the Arts, but then again that will never happen!!!

What a huge disappointment the entire PPV was. I havn't seen a UFC PPV since UFC 52 and i almost felt sorry for Frank Mir. The guy just looks fat and really shouldn't be out there until he gets back into his best shape that he was prior to the accident. 2 years ago he would've killed this Dan Christoson. Both fighter just looked so tired by the end of the 15 minutes and looked very weak as well.
I've never seen that much blood in a UFC fight from Yves Edwards but i think they deffinatly made the right call in stopping the fight.
Ken vs. Tito - Huge letdown but nothing short of what i expected to see. I wanted Ken to win but realistically this wasn't going to happen and of course Ken's gonna pissed that Herb Dean stopped the fight but tito just would've kept on landing those shots and the it would've been stopped about 5 - 10 seconds later than it was anyway, but only Ken would be seriously hurt.
Josh Neer's a punk! I hate it when fighters pretend that they're not hurt and just leave themselves wide open like he did during this fight. Never the less even though he's a part of miletich i'm glad he lost.
The main event was just sh!t. This wasn't even an MMA fight this was just a boxing fight a few leg kicks. I guess you could say it was a kickboxing bout but yeah Sylvia won just as i predicted.....
Final note - How boring was the commentary on this show? Yeah fair enough Randy Cotoure was a great fighter and provide information on what they are trying to do in there but he just sounded so boring and you could tell that Goldberg wanted Joe Rogan to be there...Oh well, he'll be back for the next show.

I agree, the problem is the allure of "MMA." It's the kick it till it breaks mentality. We (most Americans) are consumed by instant gratification. We want to be able to compete or feel educated in a matter of months.
I see the problem as this: A guy wants to train, be fit, be a good fighter, learn to defend himself, etc. This guy goes and starts taking judo, or tkd, or jkd or whatever, and feels that after 2 or 3 years of practice, he couldn't hang with a lot of the MMA guys. This is probably true.
From scratch, you would probably be more able-bodied after three years of mma weighed against, say, judo alone. BUT BUT BUT (this is where the instant gratification thing comes into play.) No matter how long you do MMA, you will not progress past a given point. Martial arts offer an undefined amount of knowledge. I have known some greats, I'm mean wow! Some of them were 5o or 60 years old, and maybe 5'4", I'd put my money on them against Tito or Ken or anybody.
Many would not agree, these are people that have never met a true master. Everybody knows a badass or a tough guy. But, when you meet an 8th or 9th don master that’s been practicing for 25+ years, it is awe inspiring.

not that shamrock wasnt a good fighter, but every single match IVE seen of shamrock; he lost. Iv seen him vs tito, vs Royce Gracie, vs this random guy on PRIDE fighting...he lost em all. He just looks like hes in really good shape but to me, he fights like crap.
To be fair, i think that Ken's problem during TUF was that his head wasn't on the task at hand, training the students, as much as it should've been. To say that he doesn't train HIMSELF properly because of the way he trained these guys isn't really fair. And the fact that he hasn't evolved his fighting style since the 90's is another thing that lets him down in fights and yes, let's not forget the fact that he's 42!

Ortiz is more fit, he's more than 10 years younger than him. Tito is just like Ken said "A bully". He has had the bully additude ever since he joined UFC. I have been watching UFC almost since it came out. Though Tito won - he still doesn't have my respect. If you listened to Ken, and why he disliked Tito, it was for that exact same reason - He saw him as a bully.
The ref shouldn't have ended the fight, Ken was willing to take a beating.
I agree that Ortis shows no respect for anyone! He proved that by flipping off Shamrock right in the octagon!
His day will come, and then he will know what it's like to see the younger guys coming up, and him losing his abilities.
Shamrock has fought some battles. I have watched him since it all began in UFC 1....
To bad however that he doesn't change his attitude however, and just for the record 42 or even 43 doesn't have to make you less of a UFC fighter, you just have to change yourself to adapt.

Age isn't really the biggest factor; look at Couture.
