TipsyToes Weight Loss Mission

6 hours walking....WOW!!! The wind was SOO cold here yesterday, but it was sunny. How hot was hot? I'm slightly envious of warmth atm, but wouldn't be in the middle of Summer I know.

It was intense and I don't recommend it! I'll be sticking to 4 hours max in future... :S It was about 18 degree's, so the perfect temperature to walk in the sun, with a little activity I was actually getting very warm. Can't wait for the warmer weather!!

The Water Conundrum:
So I read an article on drinking water for weight loss... As I haven't been drinking much lately and was wondering if I was shooting myself in the foot. It said our body needs water for bodily process, including breaking down fat when you're on a diet. So yes, very necessary. Apparently even mild dehydration can slow down weight loss. Ugh and it makes sense. I need to get back onto the water drinking!

Managed to get in 8 glasses of water + 7 teas + 1 naughty Hahn Superdry. Hopefully I'm back to being hydrated. I also read something AGES ago from Karl Kruszelnicki, wish I could find it, about how tea and coffee still counts as an intake of liquid despite them being diuretics. Goes against a lot of "diet advice" out there. While it isn't as great as water, it is still way better than no liquid and shouldn't be discounted or avoided. The amount of liquid going in (and staying in) is still greater than the diuretic effect. Something else I read about tea is that it's almost as hydrating as water, so I shouldn't worry about tea so much.

Who knows! I'm going to stick to 8 glasses of water and top it off with whatever additional beverages I like.

Beer and Chocolate Everywhere:
Ok so. Days at home really suck for me. I spend the entire day avoiding snacking and eventually it wears me down. This is fine ususally, as I try not to keep things in the house I can snack on (EVERYTHING needs cooking! Yay!), but lately we have had cases of beers (low cal beers thankfully) and several large boxes of chocolates gifted to us. The first box of chocolates came from my brothers almost-girlfriend and the other was a thank you from my workplace for running a big presentation in front of our NSW branch (I definitely deserved the chocolates!).

I seem to be struggling a lot with it all. Just need to get back to sticking with the food that I have. :(

A lot of what those 8 glasses of 8oz a day people won't tell you is that a lot of our daily liquid intake comes from the foods we eat and even the "bad" things we drink like tea, soda or coffee.

People tend to want to just break something into good and bad categories, but even things we may consider bad for us can still provide some benefit (like hydration).

If you're getting in 8 good sized glasses a day, it sounds like you're doing fairly well on hydration -- I'd only worry about making up for the excess sweating you're doing during exercising.

It's a good point, but I was definitely getting worse. It was getting to the point where I wasn't getting more than 3-4 glasses of any kind of liquid, including from my food!

Today was good for water though! 3 teas and coffees, 5 glasses of water, 2 low-cal beers and a bowl of soup.

So today has been interesting - eating breakfast supplied on the plane on the way to a conference, networking coffee's left right and center, 4 free items from the hotel mini bar (amazing deal normally! Terrible for a diet haha), so many sugary conference freebies, packing my Jenny Craig lunches and dinners to get some control...

All came out on top today! My diet coffee choice is a long black with a dash of milk and two sweeteners, works out the equivalent calories of an instant coffee made at home. I also chose to take the pepsi max's from the mini bar, enjoy one beer and take the chocolate bar home to my brother. I'm also bringing home all the sugary freebies home for him.
