Tips?

First of all, I'm male, but couldn't figure out where to put this other than here. I weigh 133 lbs, but I would like to get around to 120 (hoping that will rid me of the small gut I have). How should I go about it (without really gaining any muscle)?

cardio is best

if your not lookin to gain muscle as well as lose weight, then you should stick with mainly cardio, maybe some low weight high rep workouts as well...

muscle burns more energy for weight loss and maintance. start lifting to boost your metabolism and keep the fires stoked. eat every 2-3 hours, clean diet and yes cardio, try hitt.

You mean hiit surely? High intensity interval training (I know you type-o'd ;)). I have recently started doing this (as it was intended to be done) and, by god its hard! But, I think it'll be worth it...

Just my opinion

Keepintime : Is there any reason why you do not want to gain any additional muscle. You say you weigh 133 lbs. and you want to get to 120 lbs to eliminate that small gut you have. As far as I know, there is no such thing as spot reduction, meaning even if you do get to 120 lbs, it doesn't mean your gut will be gone. As Jenn stated muscle burns more calories, so the more muscle you have on your body means you would burn more calories, even when you're sitting down. I would suggest that you weight train your whole body and eat 5-6 healthy smaller meals a day And drink plenty of water. It doesn't mean you have to look like Arnold, but some weight training, a bit of cardio and a healthy diet is the way to get to your goal of 120 lbs AND lose your "gut". Of course that is just my thoughts. Anyone out there agree, disagree or can add on. Anyway, I hope you obtain your goals.

Why lose 13 pounds to get rid of a small gut? I would focus on strength training the entire body and eating 5-6 small meals throughout the day. You can do cardio until the cows come home and you may lose weight, but I do not think you want to be a skinny fat guy, do you?

Lifting weights does not mean you are going to bulk up to herculean proportions. The post above asked how tall you and and I would like to know that as well. It sounds like you may be an ectomorph body type (skinny no matter what). If this is the case then I would definitely recommend getting on a good eating plan, hitting the weights- not to bulk up but to add some lean muscle mass which burns calories which will get rid of that pooch, and do a mix of cardio intensities throughout the week.
