5k just running? Not 'in my sleep' but not too hard. 5k mud/obstacle course? Prob not so much!

143.4 this morning.
Long day at work today. I was planning to go to the barn but when I only got off work at 5 (which is an over 9 hour day) I knew that by the time I went to the barn and worked out that it would be really really late by the time I got to eat supper. So instead I went home after work and headed out for a run (in my running skirt!).
I had planned to run 6k but I ended up hitting a red light and didn't want to slow down my run time waiting for it so just turned down that road and kept running. Unfortunately that ended up taking me on a perfect 5k loop. And when you hit 5k right back at home it's hard to turn around and run another kilometre.
Not my fastest time but decent. 5 k in 29:03
Pace: 5:48mins/km
Cal Burn: 446

I've gotten back a little into my 'grab an m&m as I walk by and not log it' tendency, also grabbing a quick slice of watermelon and not logging it. I gotta tighten my logging back up and stop doing these random snacks during the day. One little m&m or slice of watermelon won't add a lot of cals, but 3 or 4 a day for a week does add at least a couple hundred cals so I gotta stop!

Lunch: 1/2 Sandwich, watermelon
Supper: Broccoli Soup, salad, breadsticks
Snack: Jello, yogurt with raspberries, chocolate
Total Cals: 1435 (plus the random m&m's and watermelon)

That mud obstacle course sounds like a challenge, but a fun one :) And the scale is going back down again too!

Thanks.
143 this morning.
An odd bad eating day today. I usually don't have much issue eating under cals on week days. I think it mostly was due to stress and being tired from work this week as today was another 9+ hour busy day. Ate around 2700 cals. Which sucks because it's the day before my official weigh in and I'm going to be up on the scales due to water weight!
I also did no exercise today nor did I ride my horse.
If I eat under 1300 cals tomorrow the. I will have 1700 a day for the weekend which is not a lot for a weekend for me so it will be tough!

I'm in my phone in bed typing this so won't be going around to diaries today. I had to spend the evening cleaning my house because I finally have a showing tomorrow (and I had let my house get a little messy since I hadn't been getting any showings on it) it would be lovely if these people bought it because otherwise I am meeting with the real estate agent on Tuesday to likely lower the price or something since we haven't had any showings. Not gonna get near the money out of this place that I had hoped. I'll be lucky to sell it for anymore than I bought it for.

Thanks guys. They did actually come and look at my place, as the realtor left her card, but I have not heard anything from them. Still doesn't mean that they won't take it but I sure am not holding my breath.

Official Weigh in Today. Not too bad considering my over eating yesterday.

Starting weight: 183.5
Current Weight: 142.4 (-1)
First Mini Goal Weight: 160 by March 27 *Accomplished March 20th*
Second Mini Goal Weight: 144 by July 3 *Accomplished July 3rd*
Third Mini Goal Weight: 133 by September 4
Final Goal Weigh: 125

Finally got off work on time today. It overall was an ok day but I did have to deal with the most aggressive puppy I have ever seen. I can groom almost any dog no matter how aggressive but I sent this 5 month old 10 pound puppy home without being groomed. It was so aggressive just getting the noose over it's head that it bit it's tongue multiple times and spat blood up everywhere! It honestly should be put to sleep imo. No need for such a dog when there are so many nice dogs. And you could tell it was born this messed in the head. And it was owned by an elderly couple to boot. It had already bitten 2 groomers.

I felt really hungry near the end of the work day. My soup just doesn't seem to keep me feeling full, plus I had a lot of cravings left over from yesterday's bad day of eating! So at 4pm I ended up going to a vietnamese restaurant and picked up food, and as I was driving home I knew that I would also be eating chocolate and having a bad eating day.
Ate the vietnamese then immediately had chocolate, then had a pizza pretzel, then had more chocolate and watermelon.
I was finally able to convince myself to stop and convince myself that I need to go for a run with my 5k 'race' tomorrow. I got up and got dressed for the gym. I sat down on my bed to put on my socks and instead of getting up I just laid back onto my bed... and then I stayed there for 2 hours haha. I fell asleep then when I woke up I stayed laying there for a while. Finally got up at around 8:30 and headed to the gym feeling quite groggy!
But I pushed myself and managed to do a 5km run in under 30 mins (and that 30 mins included my 2 min walk warm up), then did a 5 min cool down.
Total Distance 3.44miles (5.54km).
Cal Burn: 431
Speed: 6.0-7.0 with 1 min sprint at 9.0

I then decided I would not eat anything else for the day and have been successful.

Lunch: Soup
Supper: Vietnamese
Snack: Chocolate, watermelon
Total Cals: 1633

Though it wasn't the 1300 I was hoping for I'm happy it was within my 1700 daily cals.
If I can keep to 1700 cals for each day on the weekend I will finish only around 400 cals over my weekly goal which is only like 60 cals over my daily cal goal if divided among the week.

Mystic, no matter what happens from now on, I'm confident you are killing this. No one is perfect, but you are on a set course, & you will be fine, xoC

Oh Mystic love, I do feel for you. We moved house 3 yrs ago after 37 yrs in the same, very large, house. It's not just keeping it tidy is it? It's wondering when the heck it is going to sell, and why the heck the folk who look around it, don't want it. Then you have a lull and go back to leaving it untidy, and someone wants to look around and you are all day getting it ready for them. Just when you think why bother to put ourselves through all this? it sells.
We are in a much smaller house and snug as bugs in a rug. Best move we ever made and well worth all the hassle

Thanks guys. I am moving to a bigger house, but it's not hard to beat my current house size wise as it's under 600 sq ft!

144.4 this morning. My scale did a weird malfunction the first time I stepped on it, not sure what that was about. Will have to see if it needs new batteries or something.

Had a great time at my first ever organized run! 5kms, 25 obstacles!
Waiting for the race was a little boring as I had no friends around and my mom didn't get there till right before the race. They had stuff going on so there was some stuff to watch, plus watching the racers in earlier waves start and finish.
I was worried about doing the race alone but in some ways that was great as I could do the course at my own pace, no waiting around for slower friends or pushing myself too hard to try to keep up with faster friends (though I honestly don't know if many of my friends would be faster than me).
My goal was to complete all the obstacles AND to run/jog the entire course. I didn't care how slow I was jogging if I was feeling tired, but I had to keep running. I completed both of my goals and finished the race in 45 mins!
I was so surprised that I was passing all these fit looking people, and was able to do the obstacles faster too!
Some of the obstacles were:
Climbing 8-14 ft walls and rope 'ladders'
Scrambling over large, steep mud 'hills'
Crawling under barb wire, both on dry land as well as in mud/water
Climbing/sliding through pipes/tunnels
Hanging rings (so many people couldn't complete these yet I found them easy!)
Balance beams
Jumping trenches (probably one of the most tiring due to how many big exertions it took) and fire!
Walking over big teeter totters
Carrying 50 pound sacks
Trampoline jumps onto rope ladder covered walls.

Coming to the finish I encourage some guys that were just slowly walking it in and we all sprinted to the end.

Here are some pics, and one video of one of the more tame obstacles

On top of a great race, I also had a pretty good eating day!

Lunch: Omelette
Snack: Salad
Supper: Sweet and sticky chicken, mashed potatoes
Snack: Yogurt with raspberries, chocolate
Total Cals: 1493

Fantastic work Mystic! You must be sooo proud of yourself. At least I hope so; don´t go looking for excuses why it wasn´t that big of a deal young lady! You did great and deserve to cherish that feeling.
I was so surprised that I was passing all these fit looking people, and was able to do the obstacles faster too!
And that one. Want to know something? Judging by both your accomplishment and your awesome pictures you ARE one of these fit people. I´m not surprised those guys were motivated by a bit of attention from a pretty girl like that!

Thanks guys. Not sure why the video didn't work.
I guess I don't see myself as a 'fit' person yet. I see myself certainly is 'fitter' than I was before, but not necessarily 'fit'. Also, I'm sure a lot of the guys I passed did more weight training and not as much cardio which made a difference.

142.8 this morning at 9:30

Today had some ups and downs but I think I'm ok with it.
Started my day with a 12km run! My longest run to date! And it wasn't even that hard! I kept trying to slow myself down because I knew I was trying for a longer run, but I would just keep speeding up again! I aimed for 6:30min/km or a little slower, but ended up with an average of 6:08mins/km and was getting faster with every km!
My race yesterday both helped re-ignite my excitement for my race, but I also looked online looking for other potential races I could do and when I saw one that was running just a couple weeks before my Tough Mudder, then saw that that race was only 3 weeks away it made me realize how close I was to my Tough Mudder and that I really needed to up my long distances NOW to prepare for it!
I ran through a provincial park we have and as I was on my way out I saw a sign that said "Warning! Cougar in Area" Glad I didn't encounter it!
Time: 1 hour 13 mins
Cal Burn: 1077

I then showered and went to my mom's house as we were having a joint Bday party for my sis in law and my nephew. We had a picnic at the community lake where I ate too much. I was really hungry from my run in the morning and most of the food was fairly high calorie. Played on the playground and at the beach/in the water for a bit. I certainly didn't look great in my bathing suit after such a big meal! The kids are all young so not a lot of calorie burned running around with them (not like if they were 13+ years old and could be doing a lot of actual swimming or such). Got a bit of sunburn on the legs.
Afterwards we went back to my mom's place and I ate 3 more of the little cinnamon roll things my mom makes. Spent some more time outside as the kids played on their bikes/scooters while us adults mostly sat around. We then had BBQ'd burgers for supper. I couldn't even finish my one burger I was so full (I also had half a can of coke). We had cake but I had a pretty small piece and no ice cream with it.
So a higher cal day than I was initially planning.

After I came back home I ended up signing up for another 5k obstacle course race. It's in 3 weeks and my Tough Mudder is in 7 weeks. The one I just signed up for is a Spartan race.

Lunch: Piggies in a blanket, egg/potato salad, small handful chips, Cinnamon rolls
Snack: Cinnamon Rolls
Supper: Burger, 1/2 coke
Snack: Cake
Total Cals: 2226

I had 2 high cal days, while keeping a few other days a little lower in cals. Finished up around 550 cals over my weekly goal, which if I divide those cals among the days of the week it's actually still under 1800 cals a day which is definitely below maintenance, especially with my race and my 12k run so hopefully won't affect my next official weigh in too much. However I have had a few weeks with days of overeating when it wasn't planned so I want to buckle down a little more on that.

144.2 this morning

A day of rest today after my race on saturday and my 12 km run on sunday. Had a lot of cravings and desires to each which were hard to fight but managed an ok day calorie wise. I did go to the gym and used the foam roller on my legs as the running is really causing tightness in my calves especially.

Lunch: Soup
Supper: Pizza Pretzel, Salad, Breadsticks
Snack: Yogurt with raspberries, chocolate, popcorn with sugar/cinnamon
Total Cals: 1497

I wanted to finish under 1450 but I had to add 50 for the sugar/cinnamon in my popcorn and a couple random chocolate pieces. I initially was going to be bad and not log it, but the only one I'm lying to is myself, and I really need to tighten up my logging if I want to make my mini/challenge goals.

Jeez you're smashing it Mystic!!! You're ticker has changed heaps since I last caught up on your diary, well done!!!!! Also the pics from your run are great, looks like you had fun! :D
