Time to get off my butt

I had lost fifty pounds two years ago and have now gained it all back - plus an extra ten pounds!

I was supposed to go on a trip down south this past December and had started to diet like mad. When the trip fell through, so did my diet. The holidays quickly followed. When I split three pairs of pants in a row (that's right, 3 pairs - and one while at work), message was finally received.

I am, once again, a fat chick.

And so the painful (and often hilarious) journey will commence again. My goal is to lose 60 lbs within the next 4.5 months.

Step one: Throw out all remaining Christmas chocolate and cookies (damn that's tough).

Hi Kayak! Welcome to the forums!

First off, try not to think of it as a 'diet' - it's a lifestyle change. Diets come and go, but readjusting your lifestyle and making exercise a regular habit is really the best way to make sure you never fall back into old habits. It takes time, but after a while, it actually feels weird not to exercise and eat right. It becomes something you look forward to!

You already lost 50lb once (nice job btw!), so you have the ability for sure!

The main thing to remember is to just never give up. No matter how difficult, discouraging, or frustrating it becomes, as long as you maintain your focus and have the support, you will reach your goals.

This forum is awesome support, so now just utilize it as often as you can and best of luck with your weight!

You may also want to include a little more about yourself, like height and current weight (if you're comfortable that is). I only suggest that so we can get a little more info and try to offer more specific advice for your regimen

To echo what frogged said, you will get so much support on here, ask as many questions as you need to.

Also I'm not a fan of the word "diet" either, to me it just make it sound like...a diet haha and by that I mean that it seems like more of an effort rather that it being a lifestyle change, and to be honest a lot of people that I speak to say "I am on a diet" usually(not always) want to lose a weight but they sometimes do it for a quick fix, where as a healthy lifestyle change is more long term to me

There is nothing wrong with having goals, but honestly try not to focus on losing it in a certain amount of time, just do it pound by pound, every pound lost is a step towards your goal, but if you concentrate to much on doing it in 4.5 months you may find that you will beat yourself up if you are not on target, and this is when a lot of the time we get frustrated and give up.

I am by no means trying to make you feel like you are going about it the wrong way as we all do things differently but coming from myself and frogged who have both been there, we are just giving you the knowledge of things that we had to learn along the way

Anyway enough of my rambling haha

Good luck and if you have any question please ask

So I might have gotten off to a slow start, but I'm back on the wagon now. And seriously committing to the "get that ass back in shape" agenda has made me think....

Top three not-too-shabby things about having more cushion for the pushin':

Big boobs. The boyfriend likes 'em.

Too heavy to knock over during hockey games - meaning I'm one of the baddest chicks on the ice.

I have the softest belly skin on this entire damn earth right now. That's how long it's been since it's been exposed to anything resembling the elements.

Top three things I am looking forward to about losing weight:

Smaller boobs. Man, three bras just to play a little soccer is ridiculous. Also tired of the unasked for commentary on my cup size. It's like the male population feels that any cup size D and up is communally owned and is free for both viewing and open discussion.

Being able to actually skate during hockey games. And to take less than 5 minutes to get up after falling down.

To wear a bikini this summer!!! Let's freckle that damn belly.

So I have an ipod and use it religiously at the gym (don't know what it is but I can't seem to really pay attention to the TV when I'm working out. Also, it's embarassing when you laugh out loud at the sitcome in a crowded gym - particularly when you have earphones in and can't modulate your weird, high-pitched chuckle...). So I'm doing hills on the elliptical, level 10, and I'm working it. Like, the machine is going to have be HOSED down by the time I'm done with it. And it feels great!

And then....horror of horrors.....a Sarah McLaughlin song comes on....

Now don't get me wrong, I love Sarah. I also like pretending I can sing like her (also, not an activity for the gym - more of a car/shower activity). But she is a debbie downer. And man, your legs just seem to automatically respond to whatever beat is driving them. And Sarah made them want to take a nap.

So obviously, I came home and immediately tried to organize a workout playlist to avoid future workout fade-outs.

I've decided that these are the three best songs currently in my collection to keep me moving:

1) "The Bad Touch" by the Bloodhound Gang. amazing.

2) "Strong Enough" by Cher

3) "Stronger" Kanye West

After that, it's slim pickings. And so, I'm hoping to do some research and find at least 10 more fast-paced songs since Sarah and the rest of the indie rock girls are just not cutting it. Suggestions welcome.

I have some uplifting christian music I listen to lol.

My totally 'wtf' moment of Triumph song - The Climb yah from miley cyrus. Tell anybody i told you that and ill sit on you!

Lucenzo ft. Big Ali - Vem Dançar Kuduro

Pitbull- shake senora feat. t-pain & sean paul

HABA HABA- stella mwangi

Bohemian rhapsody- queen

Teddybears sthlm- heyboy (allot of sailor talk but great beat!)

Martin Solveig - Big In Japan Lyrics

Some of my fav work out songs, let me know what ya think!
