Time to get fit!!!

Hellloooo Everyone

Day 1 of my weight loss diary! Probably mostly going to be a food diary but we'll see!

I write super detailed weights and measurements of foods in an actual diary but now I'm going to summarize and copy it onto here every single night because I'll feel more accountable for what I'm eating if its public! haha

Anyway here it goes...

Day 1

Breakfast: Vitamin, blueberries, fat free cottage cheese, bran cereal, milk, tea, water
Calories: 261

Lunch/Snack
: wheat bran, one egg plus three egg whites, apple, water
Calories: 312

Dinner: veggies, wheat bran, one egg plus two egg whites, tea, water
Calories: 327

Total: 900 calories... a little low but I woke up late and I'm going to bed early so less time to eat I guess! Also, I guess I didn't eat too many carbs so my appetite was way down :)

Weight: 139.6
lbs to lose: 34.6

Welcome to the forum. Yea make sure you up those calories. Speed up that metabolism. How tall are you?

Thanks! And yeah, I didn't actually mean to eat so few calories... I'm trying to stick between 1000-1500/day depending on how hungry I am and physically active I am. I'm around 5'4"/5'5" but I have a very small bone structure so bmi doesn't really represent me well... which is why my goal seems low. I'm most definitely chubby now even though my bmi is "normal."
 
My husband is like that, a normal guy his height would have a higher BMI than he does, but he weighs the right amount for his bones.
If he puts on any weight at all he just gets a pot belly, despite being within normal weight range!
 
What kind of tea do you drink?

My husband and I love tea from Teavana and we also get tea from our local Korean market.

Peppermint (Herbal), Earl Grey (Black), Raspberry Black (Black), Matcha (Green) and Strawberry Paraiso (White) are our favorites from Teavana.

We usually get Sencha (Green) from the Korean market.
 
I'm into normal black tea (strong!) but i do admit to drinking Red Bush (south african) tea which has a sort of honey taste
 
What kind of tea do you drink?

I have so many different kinds... I always put 2 bags into my huge mug get a nice strong flavor, so I tend to mix and match a lot. I never add anything to it except the occasional slice of lemon.

One of my favorite combos is 1 bag of black, 1 bag of green, and a slice of lemon.

I also love the aroma of any flavored tea like vanilla, cherry-almond, peach, basically any flavor that Dilmah makes (I probably own their whole line of teas... haha). A bag of green tea goes fabulously with any fruit flavored tea I found :)

I also have been drinking a lot of Indian Chai lately because something about the spicy cinnamon flavor is just so perfect when it's cold out.

hmm, yum, your tea selections sound really good. I used to be a huge tea drinker, and come to think of it, it was during the time of my life when I was so much smaller. Reading about your tea faves are definitely enticing me. Keep up the good work. How much weight have you lost thus far? Good luck on your weight loss goals.

Lunch: wheat bran, 1 egg + 2 egg whites, cheese, water, tea
Calories: 310

Snack: cheese, strawberries
Calories: 341

Dinner: 1 egg + 2 egg whites, wheat bran, mixed veggies, cheese, tea, water
Calories: 295


Total: 1209 calories

Weight: 139.0

How much weight have you lost thus far?

I actually just started so no weight loss really yet (hence only day 2 of my food diary/weight loss journal)... haha but with my lifestyle change hopefully I will see results! I've been around 138-140 for the past several months at least with eating anything I wanted and not working out (but I am quite active in life and I walk a ton on a daily basis).

I'm sure by day 7 of my diary I'll have noticeable results! :)

Yay!!! Congrats on starting your journal. I'm going to check it out every day and keep track of how you're doing. It'll be good motivation for me haha

Oh and congrats on medical school! :) I did a BA in soc. and now I am in the last couple months of my BSc in nursing. I think it's important to be healthy while working in the healthcare field...haha or else it seems a little hypocritical to be giving patients advise on healthy living, when you can't do it yourself!! haha

Snacks (study party the rest of the night... mostly junk food!) chocolates, popcorn, nutella, cookies, crackers, milk, tea, water
Calories: 1720


Total: 2821 calories

Weight: 139.0
lbs to lose: 34.0

Also, pretty active day so hopefully not too much of a problem with the high caloric intake... we'll see!

And I completely agree with your view on being healthy, but the lifestyle of studying and classes really makes it hard sometimes! (Hence my day three junk food study fest... haha)

Oh well I just know I can't eat stuff like that regularly... back to the plan of 1000-1500/day!

Dessert: Ice cream

Then my friend came over with wonderful cheesecake! Had a nice big delicious slice and a latte...
Calories: 789

Total: 2511 calories (way over my 1500 cal limit 2 days in a row now)

Weight: 138.0
lbs to lose: 33.0

Man oh man I guess it's the weekends that really get me! haha gotta watch my intake a little more on Saturday and Sunday I guess.

I love that you went over, but that was ok it didn't blow your whole plan :)
I think thats probably one of the key things thats really hard to get, just because you stuffed up one day or went one one night and partied, doesnt mean the diet is blown at all!

I completely agree... I look at it more of a "weight maintenance day" than a "weight loss day" because realistically I'm not going to gain weight from a couple of days of eating in the 2000s, especially when I'm active.

Just gotta remind myself to stick to the plan. I can definitely learn from my diary thus far though that the weekends might be a problem for me so I have to watch it!
 
I agree totally! Try telling my brain that sometimes though, the whole disappointed with myself garbage that i get lol :D

Total: 2390 (little high but I've been eating a little low recently so I got extra hungry today!)


WEEK 1 AVERAGE: 1679 kcal/day
I'm supposed to eat between 1000-1500 so gotta work a little harder.
