Tight Throat

Hi,ive been sufering with anxiety and my throat feels like its closing on me, and I find it hard to breath :( , I feel like my esophagus is closing up, and theres a pain in my throat, my docter siad that theres nothing to worry about because its in my head, but im really scared sometimes I cant get to sleep with it, and it just feels like its going to close up :( , how long can this last?, please reply
 
Personally I wold reccomend some breathing exercises and meditation. You might want to even try yoga either in a class or at home with a dvd, I always found this to be a great stress buster, cause if this is all caused by stress then you need a way to calm down. If it doesn't improve I'd then suggest some therapy to pinpoint and treat the cause of your anxiety. If however your really feel that this isn't in your head perhaps then by all means get a second opinion, at the very least if that doctor says it's the same then you can get a referral to a good therapist. oh and I highly suggest either chamomile (mild sedative) or valerian (stronger sedative) tea to help you relax enough to sleep. Both are all natural w/out any side effects and the valerian tea helped me out when I went really bad with insomnia when I moved to the UK from the states and had jet lag that lasted for 4 weeks.
