Awww you look gorgeous and so happy in both hon!

Hey i've been meaning to ask ya'...Whenever I'm on the recumbent bike (I know, lame) or any bike for that matter I get a bubble in my left knee. I thought it was because I was at an incorrect distance away from the pedals, but no amount of adjusting the seat gets rid of it. It doesn't really hurt, it's just annoying, and doesn't go away when I extend fully.

Got any tips? :)
a bubble ? as in physical lump? or need to click ?
First of all check position most of all, feet should be straight up and down with the toes and front part of your foot on the pedal (NOT the middle part or heel like most people seem to think).
Knees should be going up and down motion rather than out to any one side, so feet parallel to the bike (no heels facing inwards or outwards, though a couple degrees wont make too much difference).
Ideal seat distance from pedals is so that at the furthest stretch your knee should be just a tad bent still, it should never fully extend straight and your knee should never be hitting your tummy (unless you are particularly fat, which used to happen to me when i started!)

Wow the "good" photo is awesome! The "Bad" photo is in your head. ;) I don't even see belly skin. I see skinny arms!! You look awesome:)
...
I am with mishi, I don't see anything bad about foto nr.2! You rock girl!!
Camy

You guys must be blind lol. Its clearly thicker through the middle, that spare tyre is horrid, i want a nice thin pic.
The first pic looks freaking awesome, my arm just sits in the right place and hides all the bad parts!
Funny thing is that i dont recall that photo being taken at all, or posing for it. Kinda funny , i must have been tired!

Wow what a great race! Awesome that it was easy-breezy for you relatively speaking, and DAMN that's a lot of hours! Congratulations!
Watch this space. Last year a bunch of girl only races, usually attracts women who are slightly on the tubby side, not as quick. Last year i was in the front bunch for a good part of the race, this year i believe i can do better!

hmm so Ive been reading a book written by a local hero Steve Gurney (google him, hes an amazing athlete).
One of the key things he states repeatedly is that hes not a natural athlete. Hes short, hes bow legged. And hes won more races than the average joe of all kinds. It had nothing to do with natural ability but determination and hard work amoung other things.
The whole positive thinking theory has reminded me that you forget things.

If i say 'Dont think of a pink xmas tree' you immediatly think of one - its human nature. Hence why they say use positive thinking.
So now im changing my thinking. Im not thinking 'im going without food and starving!' or 'im not going to think about that yummy cake down the road' etc.
My thinking is now 'I am going to be a super athlete and win bike races'. This means i need to eat like the athlete i want to become. Im not denying myself anything at all, but rather 'my body is a temple i need to feed it necter of the gods'.

Ive booked an appt for assesssment at the gym, im going to listen to the trainer who is a top NZ body building female, and do whatever is asked. Im going to go out and bike as many days as I can, and eat as healthily as I can.

Oh yeah, on a side note, i was 1.7 or so lb down in weight. Unsure if thats diet or other related so i wont change the ticker just yet, however psyching out T2 is always a fun idea considering we have a personal challenge of -30lb going now :)

went to the gym today for a fitness assessment.
She gave me the advanced test for fitter people, and apparently my VO2MAX was 49 which is considered 'Excellent' apparently.
That basicly means im uber fit - which i knew. Im happy with that! :D

hehe i can sense the positivity in your diary Liz :D you found motivation and that's awesome. positive thinking is so important, and you have the goal you want to accomplish. i truly believe you can and going to become one of the best bikers out there.

and watching your and Randy's challenge is gonna be fun. plus a little push for me too :D

Challenge started, let the smack talk begin :)

Did my 40km. Was noticing the top of my thigh was still sore sunburn from saturday which i thought odd, also it seemed hard when i ran my hand over it, but i decided that it was just because it was mildly sore still.
Tonight i went out for my 40km bike ride (1:40 - not feeling 100% yet after the weekend!), got back, jumped into the kiddie pool with my cycling gear all still on (its lycra, no point filthying up togs just for a 5 min cool down). Then i pulled my shorts up a tad because they were rubbing on the sore bit.
I got out 5 mins later and was drying off when i noticed bubbles! BUBBLES! I had been burnt so bad i had blistered, though i suspect it was antagonized by wearing shorts which rubbed that exact spot, as well as the pool water.
Anyway, cleared it up, put stuff on it. Feeling knackered tired. Tomorrow is my first gym session with a new routine - or rather a set routine. Ive been doing only cycling and no weights for some time now. But ive realized the fat is definatly holding me back on my cycling now.

ate about 1500 cals, though ill probably eat some more before i hit the sack. Burnt about 4000 or so being alive and my cycling. Drank bucket loads today so no doubt the scales will go up tomorrow, though they have been looking remarkably good lately!

Glad to see that you are tackling those last 30 pounds full on now... you know you can do it, don't need me to point out the obvious.
I am prone to injuries no matter what I do (for instance I sit around and breath and I am bound to get injured at some point ;)), so I just do all kinds of sports and wait for the injury to come (they always do). At the moment I have one giant foot (woohoo!) probably because I was limping from the surfing injury and that gave me an inflammation in the foot... lovely!
Anyhow, you just have to dress the wounds and keep going! Maybe use more "airy" shorts while you wait for the blisters to disappear.
Have a great weekend, Camy

Self forfilling prophecy?
If you expect something, then it will come!
Its one of the key things about that book im reading. The guy is no athlete, hes short, bow legged, and not naturally gifted. Hes won numerous races all around the world over a 20 year period, purely based on hard work, and a LOT of time spent doing mental focusing and NLP stuff.
Rather than thinking ' its going to hard ill have to work ' or 'what if i trip and hurt my leg' he thinks 'im going to win, my legs are going to work harder and stronger than ever before' etc.

Went to the gym, did weights this morning. I could lift heavier weights but my support muscles were all fubar, i was shaking like a leaf in the arms.
It was kinda comical and yet somewhat embarassing. Its been too long :/

So i heard the spin class going on, realized it was my mate Ian (task master! hes the guy who dragged me into the spin class the other day!), so at the end of the spin class i poked my head in the door and said 'oh darn, i missed it!' in an exadurated way.
Anyway we had a chat thing, turns out he does spin classes over the next town over also. Hes the fella that was only 30 mins faster than me in the Taupo race. I feel doubley good now that i was only 30 mins behind him considering he much more practice he has had!
Tomororrow i have people over for a BBQ, so probably no cycling going on.

the good, the bad, and the ugly!

Just to show you the difference of a great photo!

The Good! (I love this photo!)

and the BAD! Belly skin hanging out everywhere!

Belly hanging out??? Girl, you look HOT!! Give yourself some credit!!

Liz, no question, you seriously trumped us all on the trash talk, just by putting that vid together. Nice work!

I't will make it feel so much better when I beat you, knowing how much effort you put into...

losing.

oooooooo them theres fighting words!

And on that note, my day today - Sunday
Up at 5:30am
Out the house at 6am for a bike ride, Got back at 10:40 (yes 4.5 hours cycling 100km)
Made coffee, made pancakes for breakfast for family and lunch for me (with just fruit on em)
videoed the last of the video footage in pool and skipping and the rest, put it all together, uploaded it.
Had leftover BBQ for dinner (aka steak sandwich)
Was gonna go for anotehr 1:40 bike ride (my usual 40km ride) but husband was feeling down and didnt wanna be left with the kids. So unfortunatly i didnt get the 140km i wanted in (6 hours cycling! read that and weep ya c*^%^s :p), but ill make up for it tomorrow.

Also theres another reason.
Ive aquired a cat. Not a kitten, but a cat. Now i have a cat already but its an outdoor cat. It was wild when it adopted us years ago but now its attached itself to my husband. Im allergic to cats.
But the new one is low allergenic, short hair, pedigree. Was supposed to be a breeding queen but failed, even though she was the breeders best female.
So i got a pedigree 3yo cat cheap as chips, and shes really beautiful! ill post pics asap.
Shes just re-adjusting so feeling really scared atm. Need to settle her in some.

I love Cats... the musical that is not the actual animals... no joking, I would love to have a kitten, but we are away every weekend and for christmas and kitty would not be happy.
Anyhow yours has a really strange face, not ugly, just remarkable! Never seen a cat like that before! Is Persnickety it's name? That is a great name!

I wish I had your drive, I woke up at 9 and have been sulking ever since... maybe I could try and put the sulking energy into workout energy. Nah, I think I'll just sulk some more!
Have a great week, Camy
