oh oops, i had visitors and work and stuff

a week went buy without a post - eeek!
No exercise and bad food for the most part. but yesterday i put in 135kms of cycling, it was meant to be 170 but i was up against nasty headwinds and gave in 35km from the end.
Lost like 2kg just during the day lol - but most probably water weight. Boy am i sore today however.

Only a mere 84 miles against headwinds. That's it nothing more??

I genuflect in your presence woman, you are my hero...
(maybe next spring)

not all of it was headwinds, but i think a fair portion more than i originally thought :O

Boy im still sore, still 2 days of rest now, tomorrow ill be back on the bike again. Then this weekend ill be doing another long 100+km ride.
My theory is that if i do 150km rides most weekends then when it comes the end of November and the 160km race, ill be sweet as, and not entirely written off afterwards :)

arg
i hate halloween! its evil.
I have tons of lollies i my belly, and tons left in a box calling my name.
To top it off i didnt go cycling this morning, i guess ill have to hit the gym tomorrow :/

Figured I'd reply to your PM in here seeing as your inbox is full :D

Oh, and I know what you mean about Halloween! :D

Just make sure you get pics - lots of them incremental
its worth documenting and cool to look at later :)

If you ever come past the Cambridge area gimmie a yodel for a coffee :)

Id stop by and visit you but i heard you live in south auckland *G*
Oh definitely :) I started taking them in the beginning :)

Cheers for that! Will do :)

Haha, yeah. I completely understand :D

I know, I have already hit the box containing the Nestle Crunch bars...

They'll all be gone tonight... hopefully by other people than me...

oh inbox full?
hah considering i never send or recieve mail thats funny. Im guessing its from all the spam warnings sent.
Ill go clear it out now :/

Was gonna do my 'long' ride today but lack of sleep, early morning horse riding lessons (daughter), shopping, rain and everything else is conspiring. Its frustrating because the gym is closed at 1.30pm weekends and i dont even get to use that.
I only use the gym mostly for spin classes and the spin bikes to be fair, so im looking into buying one of my own for at home to counter act this.
Ate the most disgusting burger from McDs today, wanted to bring it back but it tasted bad enough going down the first time let along comming back. Some 'The Boss' burger that tasted like pure cheap shit mince and nothing else. like swollowing fat. I just thought id give it a try pfft!
Curry for dinner tonight - i know thats fatty and yum but im so friggen tired from lack of sleep i had to suck back 3 coffees at a friends place in hamilton before driving the 20min drive home, and even then i took the wrong turn off and a ticky tour home 3 times!
There is supposed to be a guy fawkes display (fireworks) tonight but im thinking the weather is gonna pack it in and im too tired, and too new to the area to even bother finding it.
Its pretty flat and the display is only 20-30km away so should be able to see it from home :D

Thanks for stopping by the other day. Wow I just looked at your pics for the first time in a long time and there are some new ones I hadn't seen. Plus the one of you with your daughter and the orange shirts. You really look amazing and inspiring.

I live in a McD free country now!! Woohoo! Not that I almost ever went and I can't even eat burgers etc... but it feels good not being on the McD map ;)!!

You seem to do as well as ever, exercising like a madwoman and all. I am jealous of your strength and discipline. I swam 600 m yesterday and was shattered, you bike 135 km... :p

Anyhow good to read how you are doing! I didn't have time to go back a few weeks in your diary but could you maybe update me what happened with the kidney and your brother?
Thank you, have a great week, Camy

i cycled all of 175 km for the week and ate about 4-5 packets of lollies, KFC and McDonalds over the weekend.
Erk!
So although i did cycle tons i also ate metric tons of calories - seriously. Ill be lucky yo stay the weight i am. Feeling mucho better from the cold though today, so im gonna give a small bike ride tonight of maybe 40km or a couple hours at the gym. Dependant on weather and how i feel

Dang, 175km! That's like from Auckland to Otorohanga :D

Good to hear you're over your cold. Colds completely suck. I had two in a row, just 3 days separating them, a few weeks back.

yeah colds suck, on the plus side psudoepidrine based cold pills definatly help weight loss along *G*
On the downside you cant exercise much. Went to spin class tonight, did 20 mins before class started on my own, then did 45mins with the class, and then another 20 mins afterwards.
I ate well today as well so im pretty happy with the effort. I booked in for tomorrow mornings lesson as well so i better head on to bed.

How goes the battle today Liz? Still killing the KM's? Stupid ass daylight savings time killing my cycling right now, might be mostly done for the season now. By the time I'm up in the afternoon its getting close to dark dammit. Gonna have to figure out how to stay motivated on the trainer. Maybe look into a spin class if I can fit one into my schedule somehow.

Spin i the next best thing to cycling. i lived for them during the winter. it kept the basic fitness up if nothing else. We had rain for 2 months solid at one point!

So diet is been good all week so far except perhaps the pie i ate today at lunch, but that was mostly protein (hey i gotta slip some good thing about it in there!) and i was starving and craving. Im heading out for 40km ride in a moment after i finish dinner.

I set the alarm for a spin class yesterday morning, and woke at 630am and it hadnt gone off, turns out i got the wrong day.
Ive been wakeing up every hour on the hour so this morning i didnt go riding either.
I have sat on the wind trainer however, and been to spin classes at the gym. Tonight im on the actual bike providing the weather holds out until after dinner. If not its back at the gym again.

Tried intervals at home today Liz, kinda liked it. Kept me interested at any rate, even while sitting on the trainer.

typical, just finished dinner and the rain bucketed down. so went to the gym and sat on the spin bike for an hour with my spin class teacher walking past tweaking the load up everytime he went past :)

Heres a good workout for you Kyle (and anyone else) if you have a exercycle or spin bike at home and get bored. Throw on some music, doesnt matter what, so long as you get into it.

First song, make it high RPM (revolutions per minute) and nice and easy. If its a slow song then 2 revolutions every beat, if its techno then make it perhaps 1. Either way flying feet with very little load. As fast as you can without your butt bouncing off the seat. This is warmup/recovery.
Second song, up the resistance so the point that you do 1 revolution every beat for a slow song, or every second beat for a techno/faster song. You want to keep cranking it up every verse until you can barely keep up with that beat and the sweat is dripping off you. Just when you are about to give up you will hit the next song,
Repeat - use the faster spin to give the muscles a rest,

It leaves you being a lot less bored because the workout changes, and you can taylor it to suit whatever level you are up too. Its somewhat similar to HIIT in places so great fat burning, and it really gets the heart working.

I have a seperate playlist for cycling, its funny how some songs you can listen to on the radio but just cant stand em when you are doing exercise, and vice versa!

Anyway my legs are super dead, i did 55mins tonight. I wanted to go longer but id really given it my all and put everything I had into it for those 55 mins.
I have an 80km race on sunday so tomorrow and the next day i take it easy (horay!). Besides, its raining anyway :(

okidoke, did an 85km bike race today, only had to stop twice - one when chain fell off, and once when i needed to pee really urgent. Total riding time taken was 2:44min which was an average of 30.5km/ph. It was a fairly flat course hence the decent speeds, only a couple hills, and considering the extra weight im currently still carrying i really kicked mega ass climbing those hills!
I was most happy with the hills climbs which is anyone whos heavy (with muscle or fat!) problem. And to realize i bet a lot of the thinner fitter faster people on those hills was fantastic.
Finished fresh as a daisy and probably could have gone faster or better fairly easy. Got a bit of sunburn at the same time - i forgot my sunscreen :(
Anyway we liked it so much a bunch of us are going to do an Auckland to Coromandel 205km ride next weekend, then get a ferry back.
Gotta work out the details but it will be excellent workout and leave us totally shattered :)

Wow

Hi Liz; I've just been reading you diary and when I left this site a year ago you were just getting into cycling but look at you now ! Holy hot legs Wishes!! You are so dedicated and totally into it. You've always amazed me, 4 kids, work full time AND devote so much time to fitness. It's very inspiring.

Me, I'm kind of anti-exercise right now (lol) because I joined the gym a month ago and have only been once. The weather is still nice enough in Canada to go jogging outside. But most I seem to be able to do is walk my dog ! :blush5: I keep saying one of these days I'll get bit by the exercise bug again. Until then, I'll post my food intake and read your journal for inspiration/motivation.

Great to see you in such excellent form!
Cheers,
Lili

P.S. OMG I just looked at your pictures from December 2005 to December 2007 and you are stunning. You are the poster girl for proper fitness and weight loss. Liz's Weight Loss

Ahhh guess whos back! Heya Trouble!

So ive been having issues with some shoes i bought online for my bike. These guys are complete cocks. Ive been shopping at this online shop since forever and bought most of my gear online here.
So i bought shoes, put them on and tried them on the bike, they fit all wrong, they sit all wrong, absolutly shitty make and design.
I went to return them having only worn them the once, and got told 'sorry cant take em back if they are used'
Im like 'hang on ... consumers act ... these are utter crap and not worth the money spent'
If anger burnt calories id be skinny!
