I was glad that she rode today even though it was wet, i was glad i rode today even though it was wet!

I cycled to and from the office in pouring rain today, too. It still feels better, flying past all of the sad motorists stuck in a massive traffic jam.

Good news about your friend.

hehe SS, good to see you again! and the Mrs! Oh and yeah i used iMovie :D

Thank god the sun was out today - and apparently should be for the next week! Those last 10 lb must be gone, and gone soon!

Have a nice day --- oh yeah so far day 2 of the Nutrigena system has my skin feeling smooth,as for lines that takes up to 4 weeks for gr8 results, but my skin feels gr8,Tammy

I read somewhere that your metabolism is highest between 10 am and 2 pm, so it probably is a good idea to eat more earlier. It's always good to change things up...although I am usually the last person to do so...I hate change!

I can't wait for the weather to warm up, I love biking and so do the kids. We live pretty close to some nice parks and a pool so we love to go out for bike rides in the spring/summer.

I dont think metabolism has much to do with weight loss, the speed up and slow down arnt that significant (all of maybe 100 calories a day?). Im just doing it to not be hungry all the time.
My girls both like cycling also and we go on some 40km rides on the weekends and sing whilst in the middle of the countryside :D

thanks guys. Unfortunatly almost doesnt always cut it, ive grown rather slack lately because im fairly content. Its not that i CANT loose the weight, but more than im fairly happy with what i look like now and probably the compliments have gone to my head somewhat lol.

i *WILL* get down that last 10lb fine, and maybe a few extra also. However im in no major rush to do so, so im not denying myself a whole lot. Im trying to re-instroduce pleasures ive forgone for so long without going overboard and eating a normalish diet. Im trying to make the cycling a hobby and habit for even after ive hit the goal weight.

Speaking of cycling though. I did take friday off cycling which was great but it would have been a very nice day to ride. Then saturday i did about 1.5 hours. and sunday i have plans for 120km which should take about 5 hours or so.

We got a new tv not too long back, but never got a stand for it. So its been sitting on a stand made for another tv. Anyway, ive wanted a particular style of stand which is fairly simple box style, but lower and not as deep (its an LCD, it hardly needs to be 65cm deep!)
So i got a piece of paper and pencil and rubber (which i used a lot), then sharpened up the old tech drawing skills. Rang up the local hardware and asked what types of wood would be suitable and what size sheets they have and the cost. Then did a scale drawing of what i wanted. I adapted the design twice, once to make it 10cm wider (it meant less wood cutting) and once to add an overhang and adjust the shelve sizing.

Went down to the hardware place, bought a sheet of wood for $40, some castors, shelve pins, screws, paint etc. Total cost of $80.
I took the sheet of wood to a friends place to get cut up into the sizes i want (I had even drawn the sizes/shapes fitted into the 1 sheet so there was no wood wastage). Turns out his father was a builder and cabinet maker. Not only did he cut it but he said the wood i got was slightly to thin. It would do the job fine but i coudnt screw it together, but hey he has a whole workshop with nail gun and glue and stuff. He ended up making the entire darned thing! He was most helpful and loved my rusty tech drawing steez and that i had worked out everything which made his job HEAPS easier.

Now i just have to paint it, attach the castors, and i have a new cabinet for $80. The similar ones in the shops cost about $350-$700 at least!

Will attach photos when its finished anyway. The main purpose to having a custom one is that we have 'different' things to put in the shelves. ie a Media PC would be the bulkyest one. plus the 2 PS2s and all that kinda gaf. Typical geek household :D

Will you please, please, please side-by-side the pictures I put in my diary???

Please, please, please???

THANKS!!!

:D

Awesome job on your carpentry skills! I could never build a tv stand!

DA: done.

so last week ive done a total of 250km. 80km riding to work and back, 50 for saturday ride, and 120km yesterday..

I have the coolest cycling tan - will have to take pics.

Hi Wishes!!!
Amazing amazing progress you have made.
Someone here reccomended I check out your diary since I too will be a kidney donor. Well, I read a few pages, but honestly it would take me days to read through all the pages here, lol.

Anyway, I'm stoppin in to say hi!!

Do you ever try to convert your kms to kg? I just tried. Too many variables really - but I'm thinking, if your calories eaten were maintenance level, you'd have managed about one kg there last week just with riding?

So I'm probably way off as usual, still a nice week, wishes. :)

ok well just plugged my cycle computer in to download the data.
Sometimes i havnt logged the heart rate (cant find the strap half the time lol).
I got the gadget in 5/07 apparently so this is the stats since then.

Max HR 196bpm
total distance 1393km

Will edit when i get better software to add up the calories burnt etc

Holy sh*t! I mean wow, you are a cycling freak! How do you sit on a bike for 5 hours? You are such an inspiration. You totally deserve cudos for your killer attitude toward fitness and having fun and living life to the fullest.

Also you put me to shame for getting out the door in five to ten minutes. I need to try that with my power walking.

i often wonder that myself, its probably the hardest part of cycing to be honest. The boredom sets in a fair bit - thats why i tend to not push so hard and ride a little slower and chat to the friends with us :)

ok heres some funny websites

- last requests of inmates , with such things as "Wheres a stunt double when you need one?"

- baby wigs!
- kitty wigs! pink!

I have tried too but its pretty darned hard with all the variables.
I did find a cool chart for walking though (its in american lb) .
The gist is "Your weight x distance = energy used walking". so if i am 165lb x10km walked = 1650 calories burnt.
Time does not matter as much as distance. If you speed up to walking a mile in 13 minutes or less, you will be burning more calories per mile.

For cycling (for me, dunno about others) i think it works out to be approximatly 39 calories per km. which is about 100cals per mile give or take a bit.

Hey your only 10 pounds away from your goal weight!!!!
I hope you plan on sticking around to motivate us all after you reach it:angelsad2:
