This Trucker Fights Back

Ugh !!

Sleep demons be gone !!

Oh well, make the best of it, right ? I'm on a fast since 5pm since it was pasta night and not to mention I had meat mixed in. I averted self-destruction today after cooking up my old style portions (half a box of penne) and had every intention to cram and jam all of it - I really didn't give a rats ass.

After the first (and only) bowl of the penne I was very full and wrapped up the rest for tonight. I just couldn't wreck myself willfully and knowingly. On top of other issues, I have been having trouble keeping out of the cupboards since the sleep pattern took hold of me. You start eating an extra 2 rice cakes, a handful or 3 of the diet chips or even make a salad at 2am, you're asking for trouble.

So it isn't showing around the waistline - yet - but how long before I go completely bananas ?? I'm tellin' ya the change of weather and the absence of my daily walk is just something I haven't mastered yet. It was easy to eat less when it was hot out and much easier to sleep when it was cool at night and certainly a much better pattern to uphold when I had my regular exercise walk, so tonight I said no snacks, no nothing and that's what I did.

I finally broke 30 minutes on the bike in one sitting :) lol these 3am rides are just too fun :p but be it as it may, exercise is exercise. I think the thing here is since I can't have it the way I want it right now, just adjust and stay disciplined and catch the signs where you're slacking and deal with it. It's still me on the same mission, I just need to remind me from time to time that it's not over yet,

Better days ahead. :)

You did very well. I go through those phases too, hungry all the time it seems. I eat more than I normally would, within reason, and don't beat myself up for doing it. The way I look at it, my body needs the cals for some
reason:rolleyes: .

Thanks for making me smile hf, your timing is dead-on.

I would send you and anyone my easy button if that's what it would do for you. Push it and let me know if did anything :p

So when I first saw your easy button avatar I immediately pushed it!! No luck... :( Oh well, I guess I will just have to tone up the old fashioned way! Great job on breaking 30 min on the bike!!! :D

T2- have you ever tried popping a Tylenol PM, take a warm bath, and then try to go to bed. Works like a charm. (Though, I dont recommend doing this all the time, for a while I couldnt sleep without taking a TPM) But it could certainly help get your sleeping pattern adjust to "normal'.

Sometimes when I can't sleep I gulp down some nyquil or take a unisom.

Some of my other 'get to sleep Kaitie' tricks:

*Picture everything as going to black. (sounds weird but it works)
*Get super comfy and then force yourself to breathe deeply.
*Read a book until you fall asleep.
*Watch a movie that you've seen a thousand times. (usually only works when I'm sick)

Keep workin' hard!! This tough spot will pass soon! You're progress has been amazing and you're so close to reaching your goal---you can do it!! :)

I battled insomnia this summer, tried herbal supplements...didn't work. I bought Tylenol's Simply Sleep...2 thumbs up!

Also..someone on here gave me an idea about a bed time ritual (can't remember who right now) and it was very helpful. I'd take a looong, hot shower, slather up with a lavendar baby oil afterwards and drink some hot tea (chamomile lavendar). That was helpful too!

Best of luck to you. Insomnia sucks...I know. I was at the point of tears at 4 and 5o'clock in the am when my body was so weak and tired and I couldn't get to sleep. :(

It's still me on the same mission, I just need to remind me from time to time that it's not over yet

You got that right :D

It's just one day at a time.
Good luck with the sleeping issue T2.

I deal with really bad insomnia as well. Back in Texas, I used to take Tylenol sleep aid. It worked wonders! Now, over here in London, all they have are herbal supplements--they stink and don't even work that well. grrr...Hope you find something that works.

Great job on putting away the rest of your food when you got full!!

Hello fellow insomniac! I have what the doctors (sleep doctor, thats what I want to be...I'm not sleeping, I'm studying...) call early wake insomnia. I can go to sleep just fine, but wake me up, even a little in the night and I'm SOL on sleeping again. It wasn't till I had my son that it really started bothering me and I saw a doctor about it. When you have a baby you need all the sleep you can get, and getting woken up at 1am after going to bed at 12:30 and not being able to go back to sleep can really really bring you to your knees fast. My kid still manages to wake me up, and I still have no control over it. I recently found out that it may be hereditary because my grandmother has the same kind of insomnia.
I'm never late for work though. I've never been late for a day of work in my entire career. Even being a parent I've managed to be on time for everything. I guess it's good for something.

hey i can relate, i get this way sometimes, such is the nature of the beast!!! Just try to do something else, deep breathing, delaying and drinking water always helps me, but do not beat yur self up over it, its just a glich and you are still doing good brother;) with lots of support sent yur way.......STAR

Insomnia is an awful affliction. I’ve been hospitalized because of it. I was hallucinating and completely disorientated. It really messed with your head.
My heart goes out to you. Well done on your eating however.

so a lot of us having something else in common besides our need to lose weight...our insomnia! I've got it bad as well...and I totally know what you mean about it making you want to munch. I get the same way...I wish I could tell you what I do to help the situation, but I don't really have anything but support to give in this case.

If you're open to the idea of sleep aids though, Tylenol sleep aid works really well for me. I just can't get it over here in the UK. :(
