The ultimate compliment ??
I just returned from taking care of business with my new classes - really nothing more than taking a check up to the admins office and 'getting to know them'
The admin remembered me and knew my other brothers forever, not so much me, but was acquinted with family fairly well. He was insistent on hearing my weight loss story from beginning to end. The standard story ensued, the usual compliments were levied.
Sure, this is what we come to enjoy when we lose bunches of weight but what happened next I was totally unprepared for.
The admin said he needed to take leave from our convo as he goes out in the hallway to be visible for controlling the departing morning class. He also said this would be a good time for me to scat before the parking lot becomes a fustercluck.
I take his advice and with a handshake I'm out the door and well ahead of the big student surge. I hop down the steps and a school bus is in between me and my car so my intent is to cross right in front of the bus. I hit the last step and the bus door swings open.
I'm like 'huh' ??
Without hesitation I jump up on the bus steps and get greeted by a pleasant smile from the lady driver and I plop my ass in the first seat.
5 seconds go by and she slowly turns and looks at me in a kinda puzzled look and my eyes never left contact with for one second as I boarded.
She grinned. I said "Is this the bus for 47 year old students ??" We both broke out in a good laugh and she said "you looked like a student to me".
I said "I know, you made my day"
I was still beaming as I pulled out of the lot in my car. I don't think anything can ruin this day
