This Trucker Fights Back

Thanks again, Randy. We have fires every year, and usually with no loss of life. I believe it's all about the conditions - extreme heat combined with wind, and then once the fires are going they make their own wind and develop extreme speed. Often they can't be outdriven, their direction is unpredictable. The day this started it was known that the conditions for bad fires were there - but over a large part of country - which spots would burn wasn't known. In the event there was little notice for many people, and trying to leave at the last minute often leads to more deaths. This is unprecedented though so there will be a lot of investigation and maybe the advice people are given in future will change.

On a brighter note - what a score - Florida while it's still winter at home. Enjoy!

I dont understand why they have fires every year but they still dont do something basic like including a concrete bunker with an air filtration unit in most houses. Somewhat like a tornado bunker. Small cost to save so many lives.

As usual, I do my best thinking while I'm walking. Time to look deep into my soul.

Careful, don't fall into the abyss! :smash:

I'm glad you lost the three pounds, but sorry to hear about the school funding fiasco. Hope the outcome is satisfactory!

Here is a silly video done to Wu Tang Forever's disc 2, the song Dog Shit. . ODB was SUCH a crackhead, but his lyrics DO crack me up :smilielol5:

I would be a terrible walking companion for anybody. I'm a 'volume up', 'don't break my stride' walker. If I stop, I'm sick about it. I got the timer running, too. I think I wear it on my face strong enough that the regular walkers don't bother to slog my agenda - not that I intend to be a meanie, I just get in a zone and it's probably pretty visible. A nod or a wave is good enough for me.

OMG, that is me, too...I walk solo--Years ago, I had a neighbor who wanted to walk with me(and her dog and take my dog), and that was fine for a social walk,(IN ADDITION TO MY EXCERCISE WALK) but yikes...honestly it would just annoy the hell out of me to stop every 30 seconds for the dogs to sniff or pee or... and talking is out of the question when I am in the "zone".

Have a wonderful time in Florida. My son is in JAX...he loves it there. Enjoy every minute!

Hiyee! Was the trip as wonderful as I expect it was?

It was a great time! I did my best to adhere to all things weight loss-related, however..

Florida is a stunning reminder of how a weight loss like mine is ok if you're into wearing a shirt on the beach and how short I've fallen since I can't shed my cotton garment.

Anyway, that first thought doesn't diminish a wonderful trip. Only re-entering Pennsylvania and its snow flurries did  I got treated to gorgeous weather, plenty of sunshine and ankle-deep salt water on my bare legs. We drove the length of Daytona Beach, visited all the places I listed earlier. I got my 2009 Daytona Bike Week Shirt, which I was thrilled to get. Other than that, I didn't really blow a bunch of cash on material things. Most of my disposable income was spent in The Shark Room and Lollipop's :)

I ate seafood three day while in Daytona. I refrained from eating fast food and all race track foods, too. My weakness was drinking at night. Every night a party (except travel nights).

All in all, a trip too short, a nice place to visit but the too crazy of a place for me to want to call home. And home is where I need to get busy finishing off a good year of weight loss so next year I can take my shirt off on the beach :)

*reality crickets chirping*

wow

Hi everone! I am so excited about this site. It has so many resources. I used to be overweight and unhealthy until I decided to take charge of my life and my health. Since then I have lost 60lbs and am well on my way to my goal.I have so much more energy and wish I would have had the motivation sooner. My trainer stuck with me through it all and she was absolutely amazing. Now I just use her for tune ups here and there when I need it. I am heading to the doctor today to see if I can stop my diabetes meds. I am hoping for the best. Look forward to getting to know everyone.

Thanks
Tammy

Nice to hear about your way to avoid the junk. I guess the party drinks are left behind in partyland so you should be safely getting on with accomplishing your goals now.

Nice to hear that the trip was so good. A little Florida sun would have to be an ideal winter tonic. :D

Well put, Kerry A. No alcohol here anymore and I have no plan to buy any soon. I felt I did my part in Florida ascending my currency from pocket to G-string for those girls who can barely afford food let alone clothing :toetap05: A rather pious feeling I left with from the Sunshine State. I hope to return next year to see if those pretty girls accumulated enough revenue to better themselves in proper attire and nourishment. I feel almost obligated for follow-up work :)

I type this while looking out my window and seeing fifty cent piece size snow falling :(

After a day of decompression and a return to normalcy, I feel a bit fluffed so I have a date with the treadmill after supper. Looking at the calendar, (and I know you and I have an opposite look, seasonally) I take great comfort knowing that the harshest of winter has crested and it will soon be total outdoor-ness here soon :willy_nilly: The containment is brutal, tho.

Did I mention it's great to see your smiling face back in here?

Much thanks :) Forgive me for not remembering the particulars of the message but I'm sure I meant it whole-heartedly!

Peace, love and happy weight loss.

HAHA! "Support single moms!" :rotflmao:

Glad you had fun :) I hear ya on the bathing suit shit, it's really fucking wack that the second beach attire comes to mind, some of us don't feel adequate. I'm hoping to get to a point where I'm like "I can't wait to show off my bikini!" I think I'm almost there....

I think I'm almost there....

If I know you like I think I know you, I'm sure you want zero doubt in your mind for that glorious unveiling because that's how you roll. Unfortunately not all people live inside your conscience. I'd say I saw a 3 to 2 ratio of "Girl, you shoulda re-thought wearing that here, today" on the beach. At least I know when I'm conquered. Man guts were rather commonplace, too *shudders*

IMHO, I'd say you're there. I can't imagine you creating any collateral retina damage to anyone, at present. Gospel.

So being a glimmering WLF Starlet is satisfying enough, I trust ?? :p

I'd hate to sacrifice all those dimes on lipo and have to skip out on damn fine vintages. Hain't right :toetap05:

:biggrinjester:
