This time success

Honestly, that's what I'm already doing. I haven't been adding salt to my meals for several days now. That was my big problem. I'd take that salt shaker and just start smothering my food with it. It's horrible! Today's going to be a bad salt day though because I'm fighting a sore throat and will be eating some of those cup of soup things which are pretty high in sodium. :(

Yes Mandy they are high in salt...but i love them too, see how you go.
I am a salt addict, but trying to replace it.... sometimes I have a dish with no added salt and then at the last 2 spoon fulls I add the salt.
It makes me feel better.

Well today is week 12 and am 163.8 pounds = 74.45 kg. Down 2 pounds this week.

Have been eating really healthy and low carbs. I even made zucchini spaghetti yesterday with my new Julienne cutter.
It was very nice with a little grated cheese. I am trying to buy some Spag squash but here (down under) it could be hard to find.

Thank you Mandy and icychic, love that name.

Doing good but I know there will be those weeks where I wont drop anything.
I remember years ago when I stayed at the same weight for over 11 days....but my scales were very old and rusty (at least 10 years old), so when we moved I got rid of them and got a new set with the .2..4..6..8.
Last scales did not do this. Still even with the old scales it did drop 3 pounds eventually, so we just have to keep going.

When we have put on more than lets say 40 plus pounds, our body has it hidden in so many places and you should never underestimate that.
It goes on your ankles, feet, hands, face, arms, fingers...back fat (had and still do) but do we measure all these....maybe not, but it goes down and I think that that is why we look in the mirror sometimes and see no difference, yet your body is still getting rid of fat.
Just saying that it's not just your waist, hips, boobs,.....it's all the other bits, and they usually come off first as they went on last.
lots of ox mrs woods.

Mine is a cheap Wal-Mart one, digital and a pretty red, but only 0.5 lbs. I'm OK with that though cuz I can't obsess over every 0.1 or 0.2 gain.

You are very right about measurements though. I had measured my neck, wrist, bicep, forearm, above my bust (basically under my armpits, this is too see the back fat I want to lose up top), bust, under bust, smallest part of my waist, largest part of belly, hips, thigh, calf. I figure with all of that I will get a pretty damn good idea of if/what I'm losing. haven't measured since Aug 23rd and really should, but I don't see much progress yet, and haven't done enough in my opinion to see much change so I'm not bothering just yet.

Well had silly day as I went and got my prescriptions at a chemist not far from me.

Then had to go to Aldi's which was only 2 more kilometers away, but on the way there my car was making the most horrid sound when I tried to turn.
I parked...in the best place I could and only shopped for the basics as I had no idea if I could get home.
Then I remembered that the power steering fluid could be low, I had some in the boot and put it in.....praying it would work.
It did, thank god... as there are buses but I have not gone on one for at least 15 years and have no idea how to pay to get on (pre paid ticket etc) also have roadside assist but no phone number for them and only had about $5 left on my prepaid mobile.
Silly me. Will learn from this.

So just on another note and please correct me if I am wrong..as I know a lot of you are exercising and need carbs etc.

1 thin slice whole wheat bread: 115 calories; 20 g carbs (divide by 4) equal 5 tsp of sugar. Two slices equal 10 tsp sugar.

"Consider carbs and sugar as the same thing. Because ALL carbs become blood glucose. (Try to stick to low-sugar fruits & *non starchy* veggies.) Even “good” carbs metabolize into blood glucose, maybe not immediately like “bad” carbs from white bread, white rice, and sugared sodas - but the “good” carbs will also metabolize into sugar in about 40 minutes.

How much sugar? How many teaspoons’ equivalent? Easy: Divide by 4.

That is, divide the number of carbs you’re eating by 4, and that’s the number of teaspoons of sugar those carbs will metabolize into: in about 40 minutes if they’re “good” carbs, faster if they’re “bad” carbs...but it’s still the same divide-by-four.

Because 4 grams of carbs OR 4 grams of sugar = 1 teaspoon of sugar."

I knew carbs for me were not to good, but had no idea it was this bad.
Just today I really felt like I needed some carbs and had a half whole grain wrap with tuna, low fat cheese and heaps of salad....felt so much better. Have not had bread since my pig out....that was not just a little extra, it was a full blown binge.

We live and learn.

I’m still learning about nutrition myself so I can’t really answer your carbs question, but wanted to say that I agree with you 100% on the body fat issue. I realized a few weeks ago that my watch was fitting looser than usual as was my ring. Seems my wrists and fingers were losing fat too. Odd place for sure to be losing fat, but it has to come from somewhere right? :)

Hi anyone..
All is going well and have been eating good food, just don't seem to be very motivated and have not had much exercise at all.

I think since Son moved back home full time, I find it a bit hard with his clutter, but am slowly getting that in control.

Son is going away for the weekend, water skiing with friends.
His Dad was living with his parents for a few months as his 2rd marriage broke up and today he moves back into his house which he has been renting out of the last 5 years.

He wants son to live with him...Son says he will do 50/50 which is great, they are only about 3 kms away.
We will see as I am prepared if he lives with dad, as it is so much "cooler".
(But mum does the cooking, shopping, washing...and loves all his friends):beating:

We live very near to the beach...and I love to walk down there, cannot wait for the weather to get better.

Christmas, when son was younger we always had Christmas eve together, the three of us which was good (even when I had a partner ..Man.) but after his dad got remarried that stopped, which is good.
Now I bet he wants to come over....but I don't as Son is older now and has his own life.

Christmas this year will be with a neighbor and even son wants to come as he usually has it at the exes grand parents but..Grandma always cooks a spag with gravey for lunch, (no roast anything) and he hates it.
I will tell you one thing...come Christmas day, I am not even going to think of my weight....mmmm Roast potatoes, melted Camembert herb bread, Roast Turkey.....here I come....YUMMMM.:drool5:

We all have times where motivation is lacking. For me personally, when I'm feeling like that, I don't think about not wanting to get up to workout. I just get up to do it. Once I get moving I get into it. The hard part is the getting up to do it. If you're under stress, it's understandable that you're not feeling it. At the same time exercise is a great stress reliever. Try to get back into things and you'll see that it makes you feel a lot better! :)

Christmas day is hard for me too. So many good, tempting foods. I have no intentions of holding back either. It's one of the few days where I can get certain foods and just enjoy being with family so I intend to enjoy it. I can't blame you there. :)

I just noticed your weight loss updates from a few days ago. You're doing amazing! You just have to keep it up! :)

PS. I'm very envious that you live near the beach. I LOVE being around water (notice my ticker... lol), especially the ocean. I'm land locked though. At least 50 miles from the closest ocean. :(

Very nice progress Mrs. Woods! I'm happy for you that you can spend more time with your son. As long as you are eating right a period of low motivation for exercise won't hurt you.

I giggled a Mandy being "landlocked" because she is 50 miles from the ocean. I drive 60 miles (round trip) a day in my commute. I'm hundreds of miles from the ocean and that is tough. I used to live an easy walk from beaches on the Puget Sound. It's so nice to be that close to the water.

Thanks Mandy and Quercus....I went and did a lot of house work and gardening, killed 2 birds with one stone. You are both right..I just have to be careful as I have very high blood pressure.

Yesterday my ex hub sent me an sms, it read..."Mum gave me a lasagna to take home. I stopped at the chemist for a script , when I came back to the car MR. DOG had eaten the lasagna...with his ears down and wagging tail" You know that look.:drool5:

MR dog is a shih tzu and he is soooo cute, I love dogs , am so glad he is back at the house where he was when he was 4 months old, and can now sleep on the exes bed. He is now 12 years old.

Told ex to keep an eye on him as the laz most probably had onions in it..a no no for dogs.
Had friends come over last night and we had bubbly...week 14 weigh in is on Monday...fingers crosses.

Son comes home tomorrow, not sure if he is staying here or his dads, but I don't mind.

When I was young we has to drive 2 hours to get to the beach.. we always went to Wilsons Prom a lovely beach, I still remember the feeling of seeing the sea as we drove up the road, it was unreal. I need to live near the beach now... 1 km away.

talk soon ox mrs woods.

Wow you are doing great!! I laughed at the dog eating the lasagna :) Hope it didn't upset him too much if there were onions in it!

You have been steadily losing weight since week 9!! YAY!

I need to take this advice. Stop thinking about the workout itself and if I want to do it or can do it or whatever and just DO IT. If I start it and get a minute in and feel like I'm going to fall over I can slow down or quite then, but I at least need to start it and go as long as I can.

Mrs Woods, every pound lost is a pound lost! It all adds up in the end. Congrats! :)

Q, I'm obsessed with the ocean so being the 50 miles away really does feel like I'm land locked. I might as well live in the Midwest. LOL

Thanks Icychic,
Mr. dog is good, he is finally back at home with the ex and Son said he is runny around the house, and is so happy, back where he was for 4 years ago since he was 4 months old.
He has been moved so many times (in his 12 years ) it made me cry, as he was used to sleeping in exes bed for years and then to be put in the garage/laundry and not allowed in the house when ex moved home to his parents house.
I love dogs so much.
The lasagna seems to be ok with him....I am always careful as I put 4x the onions in my sauce, and exes mum does not. All is well.

Thank you Mandy, you are right 1 pound is good for me and I will not complain, as you said it all adds up.
I totally understand you being obsessed with the ocean....I am the same.
That's why coming from the country and moving here since I was 16....I can not leave.

Take care, mrs woods ox.
