Well, I just recently got out of a relationship. So I feel like to help keep things off my mind, and boost my confidence i'll make this journal and lose some weight.

Starting weight 290lbs.

Height is 6'3

My ultimate goal would be 240lbs.

Welcome to a fellow canadian!!!! Are you going to be counting calories or exercising or both???

Thanks guys.

All im going to do is just eat better, and exercise. I've tried counting calories before.. Many times, and it just dident work out.

My starting weight was actually wrong. I am currently 270lbs.

Hey canadian guy,

Welcome. When you decide to make a change like this, it is very good to detail out specifically how you will be keeping track of your food intake, to how many calories you will eat and what you will eat. Food is the big deal. Exercise is in a supporting role.

Tell us the plan that you will follow.

Ok, my scale was giving me such different readings, so I went out and purchased a new one. One of the nice glass ones, which tell bf, bw, and bm.

So, when I bought the scale a week ago today. I was exactly 290lbs.

Today, I currently sit at 281.6lbs.

My plan is to just watch what I eat. I never ate breakfast before, so now I do. I keep my portions small, etc. I know what goods, and how much is too much. I've dieted before.

Im also drinking crap loads of water through out the day.. Which I believe is the major supporting factor.

Hey CanadianGuy,

I can tell that you do not want to list your food and assess calories to them, but it is the sure way of losing weight. I would never have guessed this before, but it is the revelation of this year and I will likely use it throughout my life.

I always wanted to believe that I could just "burn off" the calories doing a lot of exercise. The thing is that this does not work and you end busting your neck to lose weight the hard way.

List your food, count the calories. It is the only way.

You will be amazed

Thanks everyone.

Frank - I just don't count my calories on paper, I count them in my head. I know how much I should, and shouldent eat. As far as exercise, im not relying on that at all. I go for a 1 hour walk each day. Thats it.

Heres an example.

Breakfast - Bowl of cereal, and some juice.

12:00, Apple

2:30 - Tuna on whole wheat bread with light mayo, veggies, and a diet coke.

Unfortunatley, im at work after this time. So I drink water like mad, and have an orange and maybe some almonds.

8:00 - Chicken breast, with rice and veggies.

I know it's not enough meals, but with my work schedule its really hard. Any ideas to fit some more small meals in, that are easy and quick?

How is this diet working for you in losing weight? If you are getting the results you want, then you should be fine. It does not look out of line in anyway, but without calorie counts, I could not advise anything.

I eat oranges and yogurt for snacks or I use them as desserts when I get a sweet tooth. I keep my calorie count per day under 2,000 even though with my activity level I need about 2,600 calories. that 600 calorie deficit is what burns the calories for me. And I am never really hungry. I eat carrots for lunch sometime, they are easy to put in the computer case.

Well I bought a new scale a week ago today. When I bought it, I was 290lbs. This morning I was 181.6lbs.

I know it's my first week, but i'd say its working. :)

lol, im just eating "better". Smaller meals, more often. No junk food, no cola (only diet, and one a day). And im drinking a crap load of water!
