This is the time

Hey Felici, WAY TO GO on that 1 kg. loss! And good for you for exercising even when you didn't feel like it. That's what really makes a difference in the long run.

Thanks kezzy. It's lovely to see you here..

Tom. Thank you. But...umm. Officially I lost only 0.1 kg though. Perhaps you have actually seen through that to the genuinely better loss I believe I have really had! :D I did weigh myself this afternoon on the gym scales and they showed a much bigger loss than yesterday's scales!

Breakfast 9:00 2 weetbix, 1/3 C diced peaches, C low fat soy milk. 1 slice wholemeal toast with minimal margarine and marmalade. Boiled egg. 1/2 glass tomato juice. 2 C coffee with 40 ml Hilo each.

Lunch: 12:30 2 slices wholemeal bread. 100 gm low fat cottage cheese, tomato.

Snack: 5:15 10 almonds.

Dinner:7:30

1 fresh carrot, handful sugar snap peas.
100 gm grilled lamb steaks. 3/4 C boiled potato. Microwaved carrots and broccoli. Gravy. ~ 1 C rockmelon.

Exercise:
3:25 Gym cross trainer. 35 min. 1.5 km. Patches of level 1 and level 20. HR mostly 155 - 160. Occasionally 170+. It did vary. I tried about 4-5 times to really push it. For some reason it felt like it was too hard to get it right up there today - maybe the fact that the heart rate never seemed to be a good reflection of my effort interfered? or my muscles were tired? or I was just too wimpy? (No opinions required there. :D) I did get some nice feedback on my effort from the young bloke at the desk.

4:05 Walk by the beach. 3 km.
This was exhilarating. I missed coming here when I had hoped to yesterday in the beautiful sunshine, but I think today was even better. It was windy and overcast and even rained a bit. I love the beach like that. There were few others on the path. Afterwards it turned out that I hadn't walked a long way in the time - enjoying myself too much I guess. There wasn't much beach - maybe high tide, just a lot of waves against the limestone rocks, and spray I could taste. We had a patch of rain and it stang - quite hard. It was great feeling my body warm from the walk despite light clothes, while the wind was chilling my face. Godda do that again! :)

Maybe you have a mild virus, that can make effort really hard, but otherwise you feel fine. You did keep trying though, well done. I would have thrown in the towel (and got on my lovely new bike!).

Pumpkin seeds, yummy! Your eating and exercise look good...maybe the weight loss is just reflective of the fact (and I'm quoting Steve here!) weight loss is not linear. You've got some great habits, Felici and that's what is going to bring you all the way!

Are you familiar with "planking"? It is where you assume a pose like the top of a Pushup and just hold it. You can also do it on your elbows, instead of your hands; it's a good core exercise and will really give you a good workout. It's also really easy to do at various times throughout your day, if you just want to work your muscles for a couple of minutes :D

I'm always happy to read about your progress, even when it doesn't always look like progress ;) Just remember; it's not always about the pounds, the inches matter too! :p

Hi! Thanks for the kind words. Fortunately I am really healthy just now. When it comes to bikes I really am a wimp!! I reckon they hurt. I love the concept though. I hope you have lots of fun on yours.

aaaah, nature inspires :)
Absolutely. I love that I am so much better able to enjoy it these days.

Thanks Skinny. I have been fortunate in that mine has been a gently waving line so far, but I have come to expect that high loss weeks will be followed by low loss weeks - and vice versa. I will be ticked off it that doesn't happen this week though!! Yet I'm sure if next week's loss is also not good, the company will be be. I realize this is an issue that's bound to come up eventually.

Thanks Qjay. Planks are in my new exercise list. I do them on my elbows. They look easy and feel very difficult to me!! It was when I got up to this exercise on my first try and realized that I couldn't manage to get into this position that I put this whole batch of exercises on hold.

Popping some of them in throughout the day is a good idea. I still have to look the names up to remember what to do but once I'm more used to it I think I will try spreading them out some of the time.

:) You know I love to hear about your progress too. :)

Good morning!! Congrats on the lb lost!! You are doing well!!:)
Good day to you. Thank you. I expect I did lose a pound. I feel great. :)

mmm your dinner sounds yummmy!!!
I enjoyed it. Luckily for me I was never verboten (instant) gravy because I love it!! :)

Hey felici...just wanted to say I hope you have a great week! Thanks for coming bye my diary and making me smile:)
Ta. I hope you have a great week. I have to go to your diary now and see what could have made you smile!!

Hi Felici. Hope you have a great week and enjoy ALL your exercise routines!
Thanks Tom. I do have fun playing around with it all. :D

Breakfast 9:00 2 weetbix, 1/3 C diced peaches, C low fat soy milk. 1 slice wholemeal toast with minimal margarine and marmalade. Boiled egg. 1/2 glass tomato juice. 1 C coffee with 40 ml Hilo each.

Lunch: 1:30 2 slices wholemeal bread. 100 gm low fat cottage cheese, tomato.

Snack: 4:15 1/2 Salada cracker.

Dinner:7:00

Carrot, sugar snap peas, mushroom, capsicum, celery, 1 tspn french onion dip.

11:43 70 gm low fat hard cheese mixed with 100 gm corn.

Exercise:

9:37 50 minutes trampoline. Intervals. No music, jogging, running, trying to get some intense bursts in there. Managed about the same as for the cross trainer. Adding weights, and increasing the sprint times to 70 secs helped but didn't feel right. I reckon I am going to have to bite the bullet on early morning runs if I want to get the feeling I used to get from the night time sprints. Being able to see the seconds from the trampoline would help. I really do not like how this sort of exercise feels while I am doing it and I need some numbers (ie times, distance, secs, heart rate) to motivate me and give me something to push against. I did manage one set that made the dog come running up to see what was wrong with me!! Then again maybe I will make do with the feeling of having pushed to some limits that I feel after the bodyweight exercises.

10:50 40 minutes. Body weight exercises.

-Wall sits - 20 (waiting 10 secs for each)
-Superman's -20 (ie each 1 is 10 secs on each side)
-Push ups - 10 (8 with same elbow movement as before, 2 with much more and maximum noise!)
-Chair dips -10
-Bridges - 20
-Planks - 3 @ 20secs (These felt equally as bad as last time).
-Planks with leg extensions - 3 @ 20 secs (Felt better than last time).
-Lunges - 10
-Squats -10
-Step ups ~10 (box is about 16 ") These were easier tonight - because I went straight on from the squats I think - my knees were less gritty).
-Diamond push ups 10 (with 2 " elbow movement each - this was easier tonight for some reason)

WOW...looking at those workouts made my legs hurt even more! Sheesh I think I am feeling lazy now about my day off:eek: OK I am gonna go at least work in the garden...Your making me feel guilty!:p

Noooooo!! Enjoy your day off!! It is only ok to get motivated by other people's workouts when you need one! Not when you need a rest!! Have the nap!

Breakfast 9:00 2 weetbix, 1/3 C diced peaches, 1C low fat soy milk. 1 slice wholemeal toast with minimal margarine and marmalade. Boiled egg. 1/2 glass tomato juice. 1 C coffee with 40 ml Hilo each.

Lunch:4:00 2 Salada crackers. 100 gm low fat cottage cheese, tomato.

Dinner:7:30

Spaghetti 3/4 C and sauce - 140 gm tinned red salmon, 1 tomato, ~5 green olives, spring onions, parsley, EVO oil.
Celery, carrot, capsicum, sugar snap peas, mushroom, light french onion dip.

10:00 Banana

Exercise:
10:30 am Walking, sprints (from fast walks), at the oval. About an hour all up. 25 minutes sprint/walking.

6 sprints. At first I thought even these weren't feeling like they used to. I had a couple of times of 57 secs which used to be fast, (heartrate, 156 ) and one of over a minute. By the fifth go I had worked out that maybe I just needed to go faster and managed 53/54 secs and a heart rate of 174. That finally felt right! I was pretty happy. I tried one more then but I couldn't do it again. I felt I had pushed myself to the level of effort I'd put in there before, and I was happy.

I still didn't manage to get up early to do this. I might never manage early morning exercise, but I felt comfortable doing it in the middle of the day as it was cool, and there were no school age children around to break my concentration or give my kids a hard time.

My daughter wanted me to buy her a biscuit (fresh baked cookie) this afternoon when I picked her up from dancing. Without thinking I opened the airtight container they were in which was about two feet from my face. Wow. The smell!! I told her she would have to get her own cookie out seeing as I am trying to tell myself I don't even like that sort of food!! That was too much of a good smell. On the way home the subject came up again and she said "Do you think you need that easter egg now Mum." I thought that was kind of cute and understanding. I still wasn't interested in the egg though...
Mmm... cookie...

Right now I'm feeling off. I fell asleep after dinner (bored because I couldn't get on the computer?) and woke after half an hour or so. I was cranky, unsettled and hungry though I believe I've had enough food. I'm pretty sure this is just to do with feeling sleepy. I don't know why this is the time I should feel like this but the feeling and the connection to eating seems rather familiar. It's not hard to deal with just now. I just wanted to identify it. It used to do me such a lot of damage.

Great work on the sprints, Felici. As you keep doing them, you'll get better and better at it.

Have you thought about what a great example you're setting for your daughter?

On thing I learned raising our two kids -- they follow what you do, not what you say. This is especially true in the teenage years. So as you continue to exercise and eat healthy, you will imprint this message on your teenager's brain, and that's a gift that will last them a lifetime.

Hey felici-

Your workouts are really great. Don't you love doing the bursts of high intensity in your cardio workouts? It has made such a difference for me. Sometimes, it'ss exhausting, but it sure feels good.

You talk quite a bit about the pulses you reach, but I bet you've seen an improvement in your resting heartrate, too (which is the real measure of cardiac fitness).

Keep up the amazing work!

Jen
