Thanks Qjay. I keep wholemeal crackers, almonds and water in the glovebox of my car and that has made a happy difference to me quite a few times. You're right, there are occasions when it would be a good idea to keep some on me. I do have a new roomy handbag available!
I might not need to go out tomorrow, after all. My husband has a swollen foot. The doctor’s not sure why. For his sake I hope the anti-inflammatories he’s been given work quickly, but I would not mind skipping sitting around outside tomorrow afternoon.
It is too hot. It was 38.8 C today (102 F), which is a bit much, but worse is that now at midnight it is still 29.8 C which is 86 F and too hot for the night!
I walked late but it was still a bit too hot. I saw my son walking home from the movies with his mates as I headed the other way. I did slow down for that! LOL! I’m not sure how my walk looks and I don’t care too much but my kids have their tweenage straight jackets on and have to obey many more social rules than I do. I can’t worry too much about them though because there are more rules than I can keep up with. I took my girl and her friend to this new thing this afternoon. It is attached to a waterplayground next to the beach. They call it Jungle Mountain. It has 11 big metal circles stacked up about 3-4 foot apart and each circle is criss-crossed with giant rubber bands. There is netting all round it and a bouncy thing at the bottom. I took the girls and said, “I’ll just sit here and watch for a few minutes.” “Okay, Mum. But you’re not allowed to say anything okay? I mean like don’t yell out, ‘Woohoo!’ or anything.” So I sat mostly quiet. Except for trying to encourage the friend, who kept trying to give up. (Also I talked to the young guy who had the job of sitting there keeping an eye on things, which my children would not have approved of – “Why do you talk to him if you don’t know him?” LOL.) My daughter got to the top and then when she got back down she said, “You know, Mum there were only teenagers up there - and then you called up, “Hi! Honeybun!” However after a while her friend had a few victories and they both got so excited that I was allowed to cheer a bit! Lucky I have pre-schoolers to look forward to soon – I am allowed to be excited when I work!
I liked the time there though, and the girls went for a swim afterwards and jumped off the jetty. I’m not really ok with swimming around other kids yet, so I watched. Really I should be I think. If I get to anywhere with water tomorrow I am NOT watching.
Because I hadn’t remembered that today was the end of the working week it really did end up too crowded. I didn’t eat till 10:00 and by then I was feeling a bit put upon. (Despite that being mostly my own fault.) So I am up too late again. For now going to bed late is still the least of the evils I am trying to avoid. It is hard to drink enough. I drank a lot but was still thirsty all afternoon and all evening – at least I can tell that it is water and coolness I need though! I don’t know. I felt no guilt about not going to bed at 11:00, which felt like 8:00, but when I try to explain it, all my explanations sound pretty weak.
