Let's start w/ the wonderful stats.
Age 39, Ht. 5'7, Wt. 173lbs. Clothes size, tight 12's.

Make sure to read my diet at the end - prettyfunny and soooo true.
I will write everyday in my diary here.

My typical start to a diet - this is pretty funny, make sure u read the snack part and dinner.
THIS IS A SPECIALLY FORMULATED DIET DESIGNED TO HELP WOMEN COPE WITH THE
STRESS THAT BUILDS DURING THE DAY.

BREAKFAST-

1 GRAPEFRUIT
1 SLICE WHOLE WHEAT TOAST
1 CUP SKIM MILK

LUNCH-

1 SMALL PORTION LEAN, STEAMED CHICKEN
1 CUP SPINACH
1 CUP HERBAL TEA
1 HERSHEY'S KISS

AFTERNOON TEA-

THE REST OF THE HERSHEY KISSES IN THE BAG
1 TUB OF HAGEN-DAAZ ICE CREAM WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS

DINNER-

4 GLASSES OF WINE (RED OR WHITE)
2 LOAVES GARLIC BREAD
1 FAMILY SIZE SUPREME PIZZA
3 SNICKERS BAR

LATE NIGHT SNACK-

1 WHOLE SARAH LEE CHEESECAKE (EATEN DIRECTLY FROM THE FREEZER)

REMEMBER: STRESSED SPELLED BACKWARD IS DESSERTS.

Hey! Congrats on starting your diary. "The rest of the hershey kisses in the bag" that cracked me up. Sounds like you may need some help with the whole stress thing.. sometimes conquering things at the source makes things on the surface seem much more feasible. Keep updating your diary and working towards your goals!
 
Managed not to eat the donut

K, went downstairs for round 2 on the tea and yes the damn donut, but saiid no. and i was finally feeling a little hungry. So, it was close to lunch, (know, know, should of had a breakfast, but really wasn't hungry) had fresh pork w/ fresh cauliflower & apple sauce. Boy the taste of the apple sauce got the taste buds flowing, the sugar. yikes! K, now i just need to get to the water today and make sure i don't eat after 8:00pm.

Okay, had a banana and more tea. this is when I would of had the cookiies w/ the tea.

so, yeh, I am happy about it. Also, trying to understand the workout thiing here in regard to zone heart rate. Think I've been a little confused. Still am.

Hey, it's 2:00pm and haven't ate any crap today!!!! woohoo. Miight not sound like much, but usually would of had that one cookie and then added another 5 more. Plus other crap.

Okay, let's see if I can manage not to emotiion eat once dh returns home and annoys the crap out of me. I know, only i can allow it.

Need to get more water going here.

Hope you don't mind me posting but I can relate to your first post. I am also married, but unlike you, no kids. I am 37 in December. Got married at 27, was not overweight. Came off the pill at 30 thinking will fall pregnant. 2 years later, still no period, and diagnosed infertile. Could not believe it. Saw tonnes of 'specialists', tried different things, including IVF, gained tonnes of weight, cried when all my friends had kids (we are the only ones with no kids), suffered major depression and agoraphobia. Hiding at home in my bathrobe all day after being made redundant. Finally started studying naturopathy in the hopes of understanding natural ways to fertility and becoming healthy in myself, and have started this weight loss journey. And OH doesn't find me attractive overweight either - who can blame him. I don't find myself attractive either.

So if you want me to share in your journey, I would love to.

Boy, that stuff was hard for me to say. I never talk about my stuff.

You are on. I might be a pain in the ass but u will have to deal.
We should write as often or when needed as possible.

Also, i don't know where u r w/ ivf, but if you want to talk about that, have no problem w/ that. It is a freaking emotional rollercoaster and not easy. I was married before most of my friends and planned on being the first pregnant but that ddn't happen! Friends were already on their second when II couldn't have my first.

PM if u want and we can even arrange a chat .

Screwed up a little, but not tooo bad.

Had a lean cuisine at 2:30pm and then at 3;30pm went for the snack, peanut butter on crackers, had about 8 of them.
Though, had two 12 oz glasses of water w/ lemon juice, whiich is more than i ever really would have had in the past couple of months.

So, now want to make sure i have at least 2 more full glasses of water and a light dinner. will not eat after 8:00pm

Frankie, let me know what u ant to do as far as support.

Okay, did it, so far. No food after dinner. Wait, take that back, had 8 mini pretzel stixs, kind kids get n the box, but they were before 8:00pm. Okay, but drinking water right now.
So, this is the best day I've had in a while. Oh shit, that's right I had one of those mini choc donuts before dinner.

Okay, but really, for me, thiis is the best I've done in a while.

Actually, since i didn't have wine w/ dinner stayed focused and switched my summer clothes w/ winter clothes. Even went through stuff and threw crap away. It's a start in the riight direction.

Okay, yeh, been in a funk for some time now and i know once i get my weight going down and the exercisiing back, the endorphins will kick in.

11/27/07 - Breakfast

Okay, never really stepped on the scale Monday morning as I had a horrible binge over the weekend. So, just went w/ my last weigh in, before thanksgiving of 172.

So, this morning, hoping that oh maybe since, i did drink a lot of water and by my standards was kind of good yesterday, that my wt. might have been under 172.

Well, it was over by 2 pounds. Now, usuallly, would of probably been upset as hell as that would be my highest wt ever. But for some reason knowing that I am working to change this, I wasn't upset! Go figure. Come on, I mean I am a woman, we gain a pound and it's like bad pms emotions flung everywhere. So, I guess I am serious about this wt. reduction. About time.

Look, I am going to need help here doing it.

So, this morning, had my tea, splenda & half & half, yeh u heard me half & half. I can break the habit. But the good thing is I made myself a Whey protien shake, EAS 42 grams of protien, 260 calories. But I actually like 'em and figured it's healthy.

Okay, question, somewhere I am reading about muscle building/toning and it sounds like on this forum that people r saying u don't build muscle unless u have protien and enough calories???? What I find weird about that is, I know for myself, that my muscles, arse muscles, buttocks, lift once I start doing lunges & squats. Always have noticed that as my skirts, even if the scale says I am going down, fit a little more snug in the derierre due to this.

I'll have to post out there again.

Okay, thinking spinach salad for lunch. Must make sure not to have a fat dressing. Hey you know what, still happy about the fact I am having this shake instead of a chocolate chip scone!

Great job on the morning shake. What are you putting it in? I hate protein shakes but I know I need one for breakfast but they taste so icky!!! And I am so glad your not upset over the 2lbs. Remember your weight will go up and down.

You do need muscle to really burn the fat. REMEMBER that for every pound of fat you lose, you GAIN two pounds of muscle. Also lunges and squats are great for building muscle in the butt area. I love lunges but I am not a fan of those squats.

as long as you're not putting in a cup of it - it won't hurt you any - just factor those calories into your day... I cannot give up real cream in my coffee -i don't use a lot -but skim milk is just nasty in coffee -turns it a horrible shade of gray.. so all things in moderation... no reason to give up the good stuff...

Goal1: To lose 10 lbs by January 1st. - 35 days to go - 2lbs a week.
Goal2: To make it to the gym at least 4 times a week.
Goal3: To drink 64 oz of water a day.
Goal4: Not to drink wine during this time. except for a couple of glasses at the few Christmas parties - one of them is our wine tasting xmas party, come on, can't expect me not to have that then.
Goal5: Get off the half & half.
Goal6: To keep this journal going.
Goal7: To be honest about my food consumption and write it ALL down.


Goal8: Work out 4 times a week.
Monday morning be at the gym by 5:00am
Chest - 3 diff excercise of 3 x10 reps
Shoulders - 3 diff. exercises of 3 x 10 reps
Back - 3 diff exercises of 3 x 10 reps
Cardio - Run 3 miles on the tread in 27 mins.
Situps - Crunch away.

Tanning - 15 minutes, screw it, it will help me to feel and look better about me.

Wednesday be at the gym by 5:00am
Biceps - 3 x 3 x10 exercises
Triceps 3 x 3 x 10 exercises
Legs - 6x3x10 excercises love working my legs - great thing is I do them in between the biceps & triceps
cardio 30 minutes on the elliptical

Saturday morning be at the gym by 7:00am
Chest - 3 diff excercise of 3 x10 reps
Shoulders - 3 diff. exercises of 3 x 10 reps
Back - 3 diff exercises of 3 x 10 reps
Cardio - Run 3 miles on the tread in 27 mins.
Situps - Crunch away.
Tanning

Just protect your skin... and use lots of moisturizer... what looks great now -in 20 years looks like leather :) but if it makes you feel better about yourself - have at it :)
 
Your workout needs a bit of a tuning...

You don't want to be exercising the same muscles multiple days in a row, even if you vary the exercises you are using to hit them. Read through the stickies in the exercise forum to get a better idea, and post any questions you got there or here, and someone will be able to help you figure out what you need figured out.

Yes, not a big believer in tanning beds, but right now, it helps me to feel better about looking at me. Never been an avid tanner and always stayed away from them.

I am not one of those that puts makeup on to go to the gym but yet I can't go to the gym and look in the mirror and see myself looking like shit either! So, yeh, put my hair up and might put mascara on, but trust me, this is for me, no one else! I sweat like heck at the gym when i do my cardio. I wear t-shirts, not looking to attract any attention negative or positive. But need to feel good about me, always helps me w/my workout. Same w/ songs on the ipod, disco,pumped songs, when I am running, makes me that much faster.

For starters:

Are those days (Monday / Wednesday / Saturday / Sunday) are the only days that you can work with?

Having three days straight of lifting (Sa, Su, M) is going to be really rough on you, and that third day (monday) is going to be a bear.

However, if that is the only way it can fit into your schedule, then you work with what you can.

Usually, I try to do it every other day.
But I have to be in work early and trying to get to the gym at 3:30 am, is I know for me, toooo much.

Really don't like to work out at night,but it might change. But night for me, would be about 9:30.

The only thing that will get me is the shoulders as u still r working some of them on the bicep/tricep days. But I am ready, love the feeling of working w/ weights and feeling strong. Always had strong legs, great calves and muscular thighs. Love doing squats w/ the smith machine, think that's the name of it. Love the leg day, as I never stop w/ wts. go from a bi to a leg, continuous right thru to the end of triceps. Saves me time too.

oh and James ... Tomorrow, soy is bad for ya. lol
 
WTG on the water... I am down 45 ounces of water and started on my next bottle. We can do it - just think of it as your favorite drink. :drool5:

Your definitely having a great first week and right on track. Is your hubby supporting you in this or is this your only support? Right now this is my only support but I am hoping after he sees me changing that he will join in. Although he really needs to just tone up as he is not overweight for except may 10 pounds.
