Thigh Emergency!!!

Hi! I need to fit into a costume VERY quickly (a week or two), and due to a design change, my thighs are now too big. I desperately need to lose at least an inch from each thigh. I have quite muscular thighs but a certain amount of fat as well.

Ummm... 25 year old male. I know it's a bit of a beauty question as well as fitness - but would you say that a body wrap might do some good in the short-term?

Any help really appreciated!

Cheers,

Phil.

a body wrap might help a little how much depends on the wrap and how much water and fat your thighs are holding. what kind of costume is it??

From the wording of your question I would assume you are fitting into a costume for a play or recital of some sort?

If that is indeed the case and your thighs are your only problem area I would wrap them up about tight enough to fit your costume, it shouldn't cause any problems for as long as you need, male and female actors have been wrapping up areas for about as long as there has been theatre. I'm sure everyone has heard of girdles for the abdomen, pretty much the same thing for the thighs, might not be comfy but you gotta sacrifice for your art sometimes. Just make sure to practice wrapped before you go on as it will likely change the way you can move a bit.

Your only other option really would be to dehydrate before the performance ( suck a lamon or one of the other tricks boxers use to make weight limits), no guarantees on losing in the thighs only though and it will make it very hard on you if you need to do anything physical at all and leads to a dry mouth if you need to speak or sing that can be a problem.

Oh yeah and wear the wraps for about as long as you are going to need before hand a few times, make sure its not going to start to hurt or impede your circulation, nothing will ruin your day faster than having to take them off half way through and not fitting into costume anymore since then it is far too late to do anything else.

There are also tight shorts like the type women wear to "conceal" areas (they have many devices like control top pantyhose and stuff that they use to lure us) that might work even better than a wrap for an inch or so since they would be even in their pressure and so on. They do make them for men as well if you shop around a bit.

Good luck anyways.

Thanks all, I'll go in order...

Thedevil, It's impossible to redesign the costume, it's cast from a mould and cost a lot of money.

Jenn, think of a robot. Imagine I'm wearing drainpipes on my legs... It's THAT kind of a costume! lol

blackedout, unfortunately we have a layer on underneath which is already very tight, and we have considered the option of wrapping bandages round my thighs to make it even tighter. That would lead to circulatory problems, seeing as I'd have to be in the costume up to about 12 hours at a time. It's for a TV show.

I'm assured that body wraps work pretty well, there are numerous reviews saying how they did wonders and held the inches off for a few weeks (up to 8!). I don't need it off long-term as I don't have fat thighs... Just a little too much for this job!

In the mean time, I am doing exercises at the gym to help tone myself. Which exercises would be best? I'm usually doing 20 minutes on a cross-trainer, 20 minutes brisk walk (6km/h) (occasionally breaking into a jog (10km/h) for a minute), followed by some work on the abductors and adductors, and finishing with a cycle for 15 minutes. This is a daily routine. Fat is all but eliminated from my diet.

I know some say it's unhealthy, but would a week or two on the Atkins make a difference, just to kick-start the loss?

i know the wraps work well and will probably do enough to make a difference for you , hhhmm robot eh? interesting now i'm interested in the whole thing!
