These last 10 pounds...

How's the medicine and symptoms coming along for the hypothyroidism? Obviously when it comes to setting calories and judging weight loss, a hypothyroid condition can make things rather complicated. When your hormone levels are really out of whack, it can be REALLY difficult for anyone to lose weight, particularly when you're not that heavy to begin with.

If your hormone levels have responded to the medicine, you may actually be able to bump the calories up a bit and still lose weight. Because of your condition though, it's really hard to give accurate advice on calories.

Hello, the symptoms I faced before I finally fully tested and got started: always cold, fatigued, easy weight gain (SUPER easy weight gain) would need to keep at 800 to maintain. That's not even losing... Tired all of the time. Constant naps. You could say a bit depressed as it messes with mood. However, my home situation is causing some bad thinking too. Getting it checked out currently. I'm a bit worried to up calories with the fair of it slowly piling on.. especially since I would like to lose just a few more pounds then be set. The hypothyroidism is a huge obstacle to sneak around/ try to experiment and work with. Thank you for your understanding comment!

Wondering if your school has a dietician? Or even a RD (reg'd dietician) program looking for guinea pigs? My sister-in-law is an RD, and when she was in college, they asked me around for a couple of experiments.

I'm afraid that would lead to unwanted weight gain depending on the little diet.

You probably wouldn´t be eligible as a test subject because your hypothyroidism would mess with the results. But a school dietician might be helpful. I hope you are feeling well and doing awesome.

You're very right about the hypo. Something is still wrong with it and my gynecologist will not do the full thyroid test (tsh, t3,t4,...) So guess who has a new Dr and appointment on Monday? This girl. Back onto the eating well again, been a few minutes. Weighed 116.2 yesterday, feeling good being back with healthy fullfilling protein foods and such.

Keep weighing in at 115.4, I think my scale is refusing to go any lower ha...(help me) ha... Watching what I'm eating quite well with wide variety of everything (good kind of everything) we'll see what tomorrow brings.. Appointment tomorrow, yee!

Good luck with your doctor´s appointment. I hope you get a change to talk about your diet/weight.

This doctor also told me that the only part that needed testing at this point is the TSH. I went ahead and got blood drawn so I will get results likely tomorrow in the afternoon. The last time it was tested (he showed me) it read 2.9 and the "good" range is between 3-4. Mayyyybe it has dropped.. It feels like it, so quite possibly he will let me up the dose. You never know however, I did like this doctor plenty more than my gynecologist trying to run things her way without giving me much of an informative explanation as to why or why not do something a certain way. Also, weighed in yet AGAIN at 115.4, (52.3kg) at least I am not gaining during my hard work of very thought up healthy meals. Will update once I receive them!

Have been very busy, sorry to have kept you waiting. Dr. refuses to bring mg up for thyroid medicine so bleh. I guess I'm sitting at the correct range according to their scale.

Congratulations on not needing more meds! What did he say about your food trouble?
He just mentioned to keep eating the well proteins that I have been, also a wide variety too and just to mess with the calories a bit along with the medicine and see what happens. Also, just clearly feels like the scale is lying, feels like I haven't lost a single pound but it's going down itself. Just frustrating, but I know the weight comes off so slowly that of course you wont notice in feeling.

Hi Brooke. It sounds like you are doing well. It's good that you don't need more meds. Keep doing what you are doing & that weight should come off slowly & surely.Cheers, Cate

Tell me about it. But that´s two months of the year, which is one sixth or almost 17%. That´s too long to let things slide. You don´t have to be perfect and you certainly don´t have to lose any weight during the dark months but make sure you get enough healthy stuff into you and to not gain uncontrollably.
