The sound of my bones cracking....why???

For so long now everytime I train whether I do shoulder press or chest, back or anything involving heavy sets I always hear a bone or 2 or joints make a cracking sound. It doesnt hurt but I know it happens to no one else at the gym except me. Is this normal? cuz ive never had bone problem and my joints are just fine.Could this be bad in the long run? and is there anybody else here thats felt this?

Jenn - Like the new avatar!

I would say that you should see a doc or a sports injury specialist.
It could be nothing. But then again it may be something.

If in doubt - check it out!

thanks manofkent. i had an appointment with my doc so i'll ask him then, just it never hurt so i never thought much of it. chaulked it up to aging i guess lol. not that i am really old. haha

so dante 1 i guess you need to go to the doc to. i guess we should both report back when we find out the answer could be an interesting comparison of what two different doc have to say!

If its a popping sound its fine. Its just a build up of gas.
But if its acctual friction of bones then it may be a problem. You could be wearing down the bone by grinding.

This usually happens if you are not very strong as your muscles cant hold the joint in its optimum position.

Jenn - bin looking thru the CDs you send. Thank you very much, There are very interesting. I have learned a lot already. Im trying to remember the respatory path as thats the 1st thing I'll prob need to know.

Snap Crackle And I Hope Not Pop!

Thanx guys, before going to see a doctor i will ask some trainers and people who are in the industry.

I get it too, like when your chest just kind of pops? I get it when I haven't stretched or worked out for a while. I'm 99.99999% sure it's nothing, but I'm not a doctor, hence the .0000001%. If you want to check it out then fine, but if you have what I have, it's a waste of money.

Hmm... this happens to me too sometimes. Often the first couple reps on my bench press I may hear and feel my elbows pop a little bit but it is gone by the time I finish my first set. Does anyone ever have any kind of wrist pain just after letting go of a curl bar after doing bicep curls? For some reason it hurts a little bit throughout my sets and then right when I let go I feel a little pain on the outside of my wrists.

Thats the good thing about living in England. Free GP. We can pop down to the docs for free any time we like.

Just out of interest, how much do you have to pay in US and Can for a docs apt?
