The ScaleHo Diary

I did very well yesterday, and was quite proud of myself. I had 1,299 calories, and my macronutrients were great - 25% fat, 38% protein, 37% carbs, 15g of fiber, 11 cups of water. No exercise. I'm finding it hard to believe that last summer I was walking and jogging 3+ miles a day and now I just fight with myself every day to do anything. Boy, those habits vaporize quickly!

Today was not a great day, food-wise. Had a light breakfast, and a huge lunch (brunch) out with my husband. We shared a crock of chili and tortilla chips, and I had a spanish omelette with hash browns and wheat toast. BAD! 1,600 calorie brunch, near as I can figure. This evening I stuck to a little fat-free bologna and some low-fat string cheese and a clementine, plus a Skinny Latte. But brunch pretty much killed the entire day. 2,088 calories - 46% fat (ouch), 25% protein, 29% carbs, 18g fiber, 6 cups water. And still no darned exercise! Tomorrow's an all-day shopping day and it doesn't look good for tomorrow either.

3+ miles of jogging!! That makes me so jealous :) The other day at the gym I tried running/jogging, and by about 1 minute I was puffing, lol...hadta quit that noise...

Patience patience is all I can scream here! I know how it goes. I ran a marathon two years ago. Now I can just do 3-4 miles. Let alone beyond that! So its always a gradual process regaining your lung capacity to run/jog again!

My Goal

This is my eventual goal:

Probably not in 2006, but for sure in 2007. I want this SO BAD! I just have to stop making these stupid choices! (And get my keester up off the sofa, too -- LOL).

Thanks for the responses, you guys! You have made me feel SO welcome! :)

Hey there! Just wanted to welcome you to the group! The main thing is not to get discouraged with the scale!! I was getting about to give up until I seen that even if I'm not losing the weight I'm still losing iches!! If you need anything we are all here to support you!

Didn't have my shopping day as I planned. I got sick during the night and spent the day with the flu bug.

I've drank a ton of Diet Sierra Mist. I normally drink A LOT of water, but just couldn't do 'er today.

I couldn't do breakfast, but I had two whole wheat pitas for lunch with peppers, onions, laughing cow cheese and turkey. Plus a 1/2 cup of low-fat cottage cheese and 6 oz. of grapes. The grapes were WONDERFUL!

For snack I had a couple of low-fat cheese sticks and fat-free bologna.

And still no exercise, unless you count running to the bathroom.

Just not hungry for supper. I have a meatloaf in the oven for the family and potatoes peeled but don't know what I want to eat, if anything.

Well I just proved that some people can never be too sick to eat. I didn't do too badly, though. Supper was 7oz. of meat loaf, 4 oz. of boiled potatoes, 3 oz. corn and 1/2 cup of peppermint stick ice cream for dessert. I normally don't have dessert, and so supper was pretty high-carb, for a diabetic. Macros for the day are great, though: 25% fat, 31% protein, 44% carbohydrate. Too bad most of the carbs were for supper. They should have been more evenly spaced throughout the day. *sigh* And only 10g fiber. That's way low, for me.

1,627 calories for today, which is great. But now I need to STOP EATING FOR THE DAY.

I've gotten quite a few messages from people on the old site wondering where I am. It makes me really sad, and kinda lonely here. But there were too many MEAN people there, which I'm sure there are everywhere, and I was so tired of everyone fighting. I rarely got involved in the arguments, but just got tired of everyone screaming at each other. It seems peaceful here.

SH, hey doing great today! I know what you mean about stopping eating for the day! :) But you're on a good roll so far. :) Sorry to hear you were feeling sick.

Sorry you feel lonely here, but don't leave us! :) We're all here, just hard to keep up with everyone with all the crazy holiday stuff going on! But we'll be on track come Jan!

Oh no! I didn't mean that I wasn't being treated well -- I've gotten a very warm welcome! But I was at my 'old site' for 15 months, and had gotten comfy there even though it was starting to be an ugly, ugly place.

I'm feeling better this evening and am going to go walk on the treadmill and do some elliptical for a while.

I'm trying to take it slow here, and get used to things. Where do I look for any challenges that will be starting up for January? I'm not ready for anything until after Christmas, I just hope to get by without gaining.

SH, I think you'll maintain just fine through the rest of the holiday. Really there are only two more weeks to go roughly, less than that actually. (That's if you include New Years Eve parties as temptations). You know I always maintain you can have the goodies at these gatherings just, not as many. Instead of one the usual two cookies you're tempted for, grab one. etc.! :) Easier said than done though I find.. Once I start, stopping is always an issue.

I'm glad you feel welcome here! And its okt o visit that old site, right ? :D

As for new year challenges, well I think if you look under "The Club" section they'll be sure to be arranging new groups and challenges come Jan. I hope at least!! Alot of people have "mini-goalS" until Christmas. I personally just want to maintain or lose a pound or two through the holidays. Just not gain! :)

I had a good night because I managed to not eat for the rest of the night. I feel better, especially since getting a good night's sleep. I have the iPod charged up, and it's time to hit the treadmill. :) I'm going to work up a good appetite, then come home and eat breakfast.

Thanks for the invite

;) Hey Scaleho! Hope you had a great treadmill! Thanks for sending me here - looks like a fun place to be!

Having a great day! Had an omelette for breakfast with Canadian bacon, ff cheese, peppers and onions along with a mug of skinny latte. Lunch was a South Beach pizza and a clementine for dessert. I love clementines -- they are easy to peel and only 40-50 calories, depending on the size. I've exercised 350 calories and eaten 650 so far. I've got plenty left for a nice dinner and a couple of snacks. Water is going well also.

YAY ME!! :)

Now if I could just FINISH THE STUPID CHRISTMAS CARDS....and yeah, I know -- it's so late it's almost pointless now. :(

Had pizza with the family, and ate 3 slices. With the exercise I've had today, I'm within calories, but the fat was high. Before pizza, I had eaten 650 calories, and very very low fat. The pizza was 1,020 calories (OUCH) and put me at a total of 1,670 for the day. No snack for moi tonite! Again, I need to be spacing my carbs out better to be controlling my blood sugar lows and spikes. My macros for the day were 37% fat (AND NOT GOOD FAT, YIKES), 25% protein, 38% carbs. 25g of fiber - good - and 9 cups of water - also good.

I'm going to start recording my blood sugars also so that I can track them.

142 8:18am
145 9:25pm

Still slightly high, especially the morning reading. I'm pretty sure that getting back to regular exercise will take care of that.

One good thing was that I had to get up in front of a crowd this evening at a Christmas concert to help with a door prize drawing. I know I would have felt better if I was at 191 like I was a couple of months ago, but I also know that if I was at 267 like I was a year or so ago, I may not have even BEEN at that function, much less stand up in front of everyone. YAY!! :D
