The Rotation Diet 2013 My Journey- by Sunnyside!

Hey Sunnyside - good work on the 7 lbs. down - ...

~ good reflection on being sensitive to your husbands mood and it's effect on your eating .... it's hard not to take our spouses moods personally, and hard to "unlearn" turning to food for soothing mood ...

.... I work hard at remembering that sometimes my husband has other stresses in his life, that are not my fault, do not involve my doing, I just try & be supportive, give him his space ...

~ a nice cup of tea , or a bit of time on the treadmill can be a good low-cal alternate for myself/my own stress, over my old habit of turning to some food for a quick mood boost...

~ keep up your good work - this "healthy" trail can be a challenge on some days...but it is so worth it....each one of us is so worth it ~ we deserve it. ~

Thank you all for the support! Today was wonderful. I had so much energy I was able to take an hour brisk walk and lift some weights. I read that lifting weights is the only way to change your body. If you are an overweight apple shape and you lose weight, you become a skinny apple shape. Makes sense to me.

jjjay- I found the old one at a garage sale and bought the new version on Amazon for $8. I have about 4 friends who are interested in what i'm doing, so I can pass around my copy.

I woke up this morning with another 1 lb weight loss. Which surprised me. I'm expecting to only lose 2 lbs this week since i'm on the 1200 calorie week. When I was just counting calories last year at 1300 calories I averaged about 1.5-2 lbs week. So, i'm assuming that's how it's going to be right now. But, i'm REALLY cutting back on salt -like the book says to do. I like this book because it gives me practical advice that i'm always going to remember. Butter and salt are my major downfalls. The thing I used to do is melt like a half a cup of butter and pour it on popcorn, then sprinkle a ton of salt on it. This is probably why my weight has been falling so fast. I haven't done that for a week. I've been experimenting with coconut oil. It's super tasty and good for us. Great for weight loss too. Anyone interested should do a google search on it.

Today, I will continue with 1200 calories. It's my turn to cook for our youth group tonight. I think I'll serve healthy sandwiches with avocado, tomato, sprouts, and such...I won't even buy chips for them. Maybe a salad and fruit. (This is a healthy vegetarian group of kiddos)

Just when I told you about my butter and salt addictions, I watched a Dr. Oz Clip on Breaking certain food addictions. Pretty awesome stuff! I'm so excited to try the products for salt and butter. Let me know what you think...Here's the link:

Good work on the walk & weights Sunnyside.

I like watching Dr.oz too - I'll have to check the clip/link - dont' think I've seen that one yet.

& yup on Katahn's book - U really do learn a lot of healthy-habits u can keep for good , long after you've gotten to goal weight.

Good luck with the youth-group meals - sounds like U have a great plan...

cheers, keep on losing gal,
Maryann C.

Man that Dr. Oz promotes some expensive things. I'm sure they could work for some people, but I just can't afford to spend that much money on things, even if they are healthy. I'll just reduce my portions of the bad things.

Good point mrxian! I know I can't either! But, it's good info anyway. I have a ton a citric acid (sour salt). You can buy that anywhere for cheaper then the health food store. The butter, well, i'm just going to stop eating it for awhile. That is my weakness. I have been using coconut oil instead and have really enjoyed that. I don't over indulge on it because it's so powerful. (It's even good on popcorn). As for the rest, I can take it or leave it.

Yesterday went really well. My hubby has started walking with me - which is wonderful! He is one of those people who still weigh the same as in high school. He's almost 40.

I'm really excited about The Rotation Diet. I think that it's perfect for me. I don't feel like i'm deprived. I still have tons of energy. (I am taking a one a day vitamin) . I have a picture of myself back in high school. I don't think I want to look like that again because I was a child. I like women curves, but, I still look at it for encouragement. I really don't have any pictures in between. I was a super fit teenager, but starting in college and getting married at 20. I just became an overweight adult.

Well, then now it's time to become a healthy weight adult. And you are on the right path for that.

ps. I almost said 'normal weight adult' there. Then I realized that in a lot of countries, overweight would be the norm.

Good point mrxian. :)
Today is my 14th out of 21 days on my diet. I wouldn't say that I followed this diet totally. I had a couple of weekend nights that I overdid the sweets. But, i'm still down 10 lbs. I hope to be pretty on spot for my last 7 days. I'll then take the rest of the month off to practice not gaining my loss. Then back to my 21 days at the beginning of Feb.

yay Sunny ! Great work on 10 pounds down ...U are rockin' !

... I find weekends I "relax" a bit too - I still do healthy-choices, but don't log my food in my little note-book as religiously as weekdays... gotta have some balance in life too - ...I figure "too strict" is just not realistic to stick to & so nice to hear that hubby is joining you on the walks - so great to have family support your healthy.

So happy you are feeling great & having success - enjoy "maintaining" for a bit 'til your next rotation in Feb....

Thank you Maryann. I've been enjoying reading about your journey. Today is my last day on my low calorie day. Still at 10 lbs loss. Which for 17 days isn't bad. I've been finding it hard to try and cook on my low day. I have been visiting a JUDDD forum. They are kind of similar to The Transition Diet. Anyway, they have a thread that lists "DD (down day)" menu. Very good ones. I tried one today where I cook a quiche that is 600 calories and I eat it throughout the day. I love it. I don't have to try to make something when i'm starving. It's healthy with veggies and protein. Very smart indeed!

Woke up with a pound loss. Yes! It's been a few days since a loss. Today was an up calorie day. It's been fun eating more. Tonight for supper I had a slice of pizza. I don't like cheese so I took it off. I wonder how much that saves on calories...I love the taste of pizza without cheese. I guess it's just like a glorified bread stick. Just softer.
My 21 day rotation is coming up at the end of this weekend. Excited to see how much i've lost. So far it's 11 lbs. I would be happy if that's all I lost.

Wow. It's been 3 weeks already! Today is my last day on The Rotation Diet. My review is that it works!! It really really does. My end results are great. I started at 196 and today I am 184. So, I lost 12 in 3 weeks. I would say that I went over my calories about 3 times. Not too bad. I found this diet really easy and would do it again. I'm really wanting to try the JUDDD diet. I may try that next and see how I like it. But, all and all I would recommend it. I hope I helped someone out there. I would love to answer anyones question about this diet. I have 28 more pounds to lose before my 40th birthday in May. Thanks for everyone's help and encouragement!

That's awesome SunnySide!!! Way to go! Congrats!!! I know how good it feels to have that little kick start for motivation and 12lbs is awesome! I often cycle my carb days. One higher one lower, and that tends to go hand in hand with the higher calorie days when the carbs are higher too and it does work wonders! Keep going girlie! I'm watching you and rooting for you!!

I live in California too! <3 Sunnnnyside. Where you talking about Cali? ;) Or just you being so cute and sunny!? <3

Nice to meet you!! xoxo

Well, it's great to meet you too!!! I live in Sonora. About 45 minutes from Yosemite. Love it here. I just moved here from South Dakota about 4 years ago. Watching me huh? I better kick it in high gear then! LOL. :) Thank you for the encouragement. I thought about cycling my carbs too. I struggling with wanting to do another Rotation or try JUDDD. Anyway, see you around.

Hi everyone! I'm back to report in. It has been 2 weeks since I did my last Rotation from The Rotation Diet by Martin Katahn. I'm happy to report that I have maintained my weight thus far.
A few tips i've learned and something little things i've done.

I stopped eating at dark. This has been amazing for me! I don't feel sick anymore from having a full stomach at night before bed. I tend to make really healthy choices in the daytime, but once it's gets nighttime, I tend to overeat. So, I decided to drop my nighttime eating. If i'm hungry i'll eat some fruit or tea. But, honestly, it just took a couple of days and my body got used to not eating and it wasn't hungry.

When I was about 25 I went to a health school and they only served 2 meals a day there. They said it was good for your digestion and lots of other reasons I don't have time to go into. Anyway, I lost like 45lbs in 3 months while I lived there. I ate whatever I wanted during my 2 meals. They were big and very healthy. I just wasn't hungry for dinner.

I chose to eat fruits and veggies daily. Usually, a big Kale salad in my lunch and a big fruit smoothie along with my breakfast. I tried to get some exercise of a sort everyday.

So, today i'm starting a new rotation. The book says to do a 21 day Rotation after a week to a month off from the last. It's been 2 weeks and i'm ready to drop another 12 - 15 lbs. We'll see how it goes.
Feb 4 184 lbs

My first day on my 600 calorie day was not bad at all! I split my 600 calories for my 9:30 breakfast and 3:30 lunch.I'm still not eating after dark. I ate a HUGE Kale salad for lunch filled with tons of veggies and protein. I also ate some safe fruit. The author says that you should not let yourself be super hungry. It kept me full until about 9. So, I was tired and just went to sleep. I woke up this morning feeling great and slept through the night. (I never slept through the night when I ate a big dinner or right before bed)

This morning was a neat surprise. I woke up and weighed myself still at 184. The neat thing is, is that I got my "friend". The scale usually has a good 5lb increase during that time of month. So, it was a nice way to start my day.

Today, my plan is to drink more water. And, I started drinking this herbal tea called "Good Times- sweet and spicy" Oh man, it's so good. I don't even usually like tea. You can get it caffeinated or non. Mine is non. But, I made the mistake and got caffeinated once. Couldn't figure out why I wasn't sleeping very good. So if you look into it, just remember that.

Anyway, have a wonderful day everyone. Remember to make healthy choices and have some fruits and veggies today!

Woke up today feeling great! I'm down 2 lbs and I have a healthy appetite. Today is my lost low calorie day. I will increasing my calories for the next 12 days. So excited!

I hope everyone is doing good today and making healthy choices. I cut up a lb of kale on Sunday night. I massaged avocado on it, sprinkled it with lemon juice, and added a little bit of herbs called Herbimere. It has last me 3 days. Kale is great because it doesn't get soggy like lettuce. So, it keeps crisp for days. Just a thought for someone who wants a salad on hand at all times. Kale is a super food! It packs on more protein then beef, and more calcium then milk. The fiber is high too. If anyone loves kale like me, i'd love to hear some recipes!

I'm ending my first week of my new rotation. I'm down 3 lbs this week. I did not follow this round perfectly. I had too many unexpected social activities come up. I would say the first 2 days were followed. The rest were not. But, I still stuck to my not eating after dark and it still allowed me to lose my 3lbs. We'll see what next week brings. So exciting!

I have 25 more lbs before my first goal of losing 40 lbs by my 40th birthday. My birthday is in 3 months. I know I can do it! I lost 15 lbs last month. Anyway, have a wonderful weekend!

Hey Sunny - nice to see you back posting & U are doing so great !
3 lbs. this week - woo hoo gal !...

your 25lbs. over 3 months should be doable ( seeing how you squeezed off 15lbs. on the first rotation)...

..keep it coming - U are doing fantastic.... & I like your idea to not eat past dark...I've been avoid any eating after supper this past week - & it seems to help "shrink" your stomach/reduce hunger over-all....

cheers, Maryann C.
