The road to getting faster.

Sunday October 1st, 2006 weigh-in
----------------------------------
My previous weight was 167.6 pounds (my new scale can do decimals  ) and this morning I was 164.2 pounds. Thats a lost of 3.4 pounds. Thank god! I haven't seen an improvement fitness wise in a long time. This really got me motivated. I also started drinking LOTS of water, to make sure the weight dropped was indeed fat and not just water (that explained why my weight bounced up and down). It really seems like I learn something everyday. My target weight for next sunday morning will be 162.2 pounds.

I may do wrestling, though I'm not sure (in the 141 pound class by November 15 becasue no one wrestles in that class at my school because wrestling not big down here so I will automatically start varsity). In wrestling comming the practices end at 5:00 (1 hour and a half earlier then my football) and a entire HOUR is donated for the wrestlers to lift weights and work on speed. It will get me in better shape for football next season. I just feel kind of odd thining about it because I never have done wrestling before, but I should give it a shot because I could be missing out on something that I would have liked (like my freshmen football season)

I find I have less headaches as well when I drink enough water. And it's good for your skin.

Grats on the loss, always feels good to move closer to your goal.

And wrestling is the bomb. I did it for a year way back when in high school and I really wish I had stuck with it. It's an even better full-body workout than football, and you get to learn all kinds of ways to mess someone up.....mmmmm double chicken wing submission ftw.

I agree with both of you, water has just became my new best friend. I will no longer drink soda, not even diet soda.

I was searching the HIIT forum and found a post. It had the beginner, intermidiate, and the advanced. I decided to jump to the advanced one. I got threw 12 minutes (out of 20) and my legs could not move man. As im typin, sweat is rolling down me, my arms are completely wet and i gotta wipe my forhead every 2 seconds. now my shirts getting wet....

The HIIT confused me a little. I can get threw all 20 minutes of the intermideate one, but with the advanced one I get threw 12 minutes but I am sweating more then the intermediate. I think I will just stick with the advanced one and try to add a minute a week. Sounds like a good plan to me.

This has been a terrific day. I lost some weight and now I just started getting back into HIIT (which I haven't done for a while).

Can't wait to see my progress next Sunday!

woa, here we go changing things again. I didn't think it would come to this. I am the new starting defensive tackle! I am very happy about this, this is what all my hardwork has been focused to. But now I gotta focus on keeping my weight, you don't wanna drop weight when playling d-line (I'm already to small as it is). The reason I am starting- I had 15 tackles and 2 sacks in a offense vs defense scrimmiage in practice. I was on a role! Now I can finally prove it into todays game. I can't wait.

Last night, we won our game 24-0. That was the first day I started. I played Defensive Line and got 1 tackle.I had to do good in order to keep my starting job, but I really don't know how I did. I didn't go to school today, I woke up this morning really sick in the stomach.

Wrote up a article, it can be found here. Credit to some google searches, a chart, and t-nation.

I keep getting the feeling that I didn't perform well enough to keep my starting job. The person I took the job from has just about recovered from his sprained ankle and will probably push me out of my job. That sucks coz hes bigger then I am..... Height and weight wise. ARGH.

I can't wait till the season ends. I want to bulk up so BAD and buy a digital fat caliper.

Well, I was right. Today the new Defensive Line was annonced and I lost my job. I started D-tackle last night for only 2 plays, made a big mistake, and got taken out for the rest of the game. Damn, and I was looking like a beast to. this sucks, I do so good in practice but I can't execute in the game. I can't wait till the season ends GOD I wanna come back next year and surprise everyone with my new size and speed!!! That would feel so good.

My long term goal, Be like 190 Pounds with a low body fat % run under a 4.8. OMG I would be made.

WEll enough dreaming, I'll start wrting out a plan of action.

Things haven't been going well. Last Friday I started getting sick and found that I had a stomach flu. I haven't eaten since then, everything I eat gets vommited. I have a really terrible stomach pain. I checked my weight and I was 157 Pounds which is about 7 pounds lower then last wendsday. (probably all muscle and water :( ). I feel really weak and my stomach is killing me every second. I probably won't go to school tommorow either. Doctor told me something about I had more white blood cells then usual now that I am sick....so I don't know. I can't wait till I am better.

Yeah, I'm still messed up. I missed school for 3 days and haven't eaten since Saturday! Though, I don't seem to have an appetite. My weight was 155. My weights just dropping lower and lower. I going to try to eat regular food today but hopefully I won't vomit.

Its Saturday I have gotten PLENTY of food in me. The weight just seemed to bounce right back on. I'm going to get back into lifting today. Hopefully none of my numbers dropped.

aww.. monday 4 days of makeup work :(

Workout
Well, I tried a full body workout today, lots of numbers went down and then a surprise.

Bench: Overall went down
Set 1- 100 x 8
Set 2- 100 x 6
Set 3- 100 x 1

Press: Overall went down
Set 1- 55 x 8
Set 2- 55 x 8
Set 3- 55 x 5

Deadlift- LOL
Set 1- 140 x 8
Set 2- 140 x 8
Set 3- 140 x .580023 Vomit!!

I vomitted on the last set on the deadlift halfway through the 1st rep. I'm going to remember this forever. I always have memories with deadlifts. Last summer I tried my monthy attempt at 200 pounds and I dropped it on my foot.

Ouch, 200 pounds on your foot? Sounds painful.

Keep working hard man, you'll get strong :) Hope your feeling better.

Thanks. I already missed 2 practices because of make up work and still being sick. I can't run or lift weights or else I'll start vomitting. Flu sucks! I'm definetlely going to get a flu shot after this is over. And I found this new routine on getting your deadlift up. It includes lots of single repetitions, and I like it. :
Deadlift
Set 1- 25% of 1 rep max, 10 reps
Rest 3 minutes, stretch
Set 2- 50% of 1 rep max, 3 reps
Rest 3 minutes, stretch
Set 3- 85% of 1 rep max, 1 rep
Rest 1 minute
Set 4- 85% of 1 rep max, 1 rep
Rest 1 minute
Set 5- 85% of 1 rep max, 1 rep
Rest 1 minute
Set 6- 85% of 1 rep max, 1 rep
Rest 1 minute
Set 7- 85% of 1 rep max, 1 rep
Rest 1 minute
Set 8- 85% of 1 rep max, 1 rep

Barbell Shrugs
Set 1- Heavy 10 reps
Set 2- Heavy 10 reps
Set 3- Heavy 10 reps
Set 4- Heavy 10 reps

Adominals Crunch
Set 1- 10-25 reps
Set 2- 10-25 reps
Set 3- 10-25 reps
Set 4- 10-25 reps

When the season is over, I'm gonna bulk up 10 pounds and then start cutting. Want to get my body fat like 6-7% and then work on my speed. I'm thinking about doing corner and possibly reciever next year.

Friday October 27
---------------------
I went to the weight room today, and I had problems benching 95?
Set 1- 8
Set 2- 6
Set 3- 1

ARGH! I guess the season, with all its running and "catobolism" really takes a toll. You learn something new everyday, next year after practice I'm taking a whey protein shake.
After the season, I'm going to bulk 30 pounds. I decided to say the hell with cutting, I'm only 158 Pounds so therefore I don't have enough mass to cut anyways. (learned something else). I had problems thinking about this before because of my gut, but its winter so its okay for now.

I'm going to start a new diary after the season on my goal to bulk 30 pounds. I can't wait to bulk up. I'm going to use Bill Starrs 5x5 linear intermediate version for my lifting.

Well, the season isn't over just yet. Tommorw is our last game. And then on Saturday I can get my 5 rep maxes for the all the exercises and then begin Bill Starr's 5x5. I also signed up for the teams Sparq Training for speed. If I am lucky , they will put the training days on Tuesday/Thursday like they did last year so then I will have a perfect scheldule:

Sunday: Rest
Monday: BS program
Tuesday: Sparq speed training
Wednesday: BS program
Thursday: Sparq speed training
Friday: BS program
Saturday: Rest

Of course, I will be doing all this while bulking.

edit: actually I found a few problems with bill starrs program, that makes me want to do something else. For one, bill starrs program needs 2.5% increases every week and the plates at world gym don't go below 2.5. And 2, my main goal is power and this doesn't focus on the big picture. I'm searching for another program right now.
