The Post WO problem for those of us less experienced.

Hey all

Good weekend?

Im about to bulk buy my next protein and i just need to post wo carb advice.

Should the post wo spike be used no matter what your aim? ive been trying to shift some body fat before i look to bulk a little but have seriously noticed muscular losses in around 3 weeks. ive never used a post wo spike so maybe i should be?

im confused though as taking in 50g carbs post wo (is that about right) is going to knock my kcalorie intake right up.

also (and this has to be the bain of my life) i get to the gym around half 6 to 7 for around an hour a time. therefore ill be having a whey/carb shake at around 8 ish and then a meal at 9. now i understand i wont be storing the shake but the meal? should i just forget a meal and have more whey?

i have serious sensitivties to carbs (forgetting fat storage, if i eat late i wake up feeling bloated and groggy) so need a balance between building muscle and stroring what im no using up.

whats the general guidelines for post WO nutrition and later in the day workouts?

thanks

ben

You should be consuming meals as frequently as possible.
Do you know how many carbs you need to consume in a day?

If you dont then use the caloire calculator in the nutrition sticky (link in my sig)

If you do, then dived up your carb intake and split it accross each meal as evenly as possible.

so yes, have your shake and dinner, but workout how many carbs you need.

What protein shake are you buying thats so high in carbs? Not a weight gainer is it?

the carbs would come from adding dextose/malto to basic whey.

i know how many carbs i should be taking in but have been considering carb cyling so to minimise fat gains, something i seem to do very easily. i know i need to avoid late night carbs as much as possible as ive noticed greater results in definition when doing so in the past; just concerned the dextrose would be too much too late on in the day.

thanks

Well if you know how many carbs you should be taking then you tell me if
"the dextrose would be too much too late on in the day."

If you have worked it out, and its right then, yes its right.

just for a reference in case you are still worried, i'm cutting at the moment, 190 lbs and ~10% bodyfat. My PWO shake is 40g protein and 80g carbs, then i have another ~25 carbs in my PPWO.
