The pain day after?

Hi, I'm new to weight training. I have tryed in the past to keep in shape but it was on an off, due to college. I am more of a runner in the past.

Anyway is pain, discomfort normal after weight training? I did 3set of 15,10,8 rep of biceps curl (dumbbell, and other training but since my arm is the only thing in pain...). I was fine after the last set (fine as no pain) and the rest of the day. sure my arm was limp and I felt good for working out. but next morning my arm is stiff and very uncomfortable.

I warmed up for 5 min to get my blood to flow, and even strached. Did light weight 10 rep for the start. And strached evened after.

I am not sure if I over pushed my self or if this is normal...

Any help or tip would help me out alot!

LOL, you runners are a great group :D You're fine, just a little sore. As you keep lifting you'll become less and less sore each time, so don't worry about it. Oh yeah, make sure you're getting proper PWO nutrition, and have good eating habbits in general.

MR Eik! is right on (as usual). This might help while you body adjusts to working out:

Stretch after your workout for 30 seconds on each of the worked-out muscles. Never bounce or stretch to the point of pain. You can also stretch between sets.

After your workout, try a little massage. I find that sport specific deep tissue massage works nicely. And, you can perform this yourself on most muscles worked. Get a girl friend or spouse for back massages.

(-:

Oh yeah, the most important thing is to not give up because of some pain. It will get better!

I love that feeling the next morning. Roll out of bed and stretch everything out...feels damn good. In the beginning it hurt more but now its a good pain (not that im into that kinda thing).
