The New Me, miracles of modern science...

245????? WOW! Congrats on the new number. I love the days when I get to see old numbers from way back when. Do you think you'll go much lower than that? Do you feel you are at your ideal weight now, or do you feel like there is more work to do on your body before you are finished? I'm always curious to know how people decide weather they are 'finished'.

First off, thanks to everyone! I really appreciate it.

Tig, I'm not sure yet. Once upon a time I figured that I woul dbe happy at 250, since it seemed so far away. Now that I'm actually lower than that, I'm re-evaluating. I used to weigh around 230 lbs, back in 86-87, when I was 20-21 years old. I was "skinny fat" though. No muscle tone to speak of. Now I'm more muscular, and getting moreso. I still have the sloppy skin around my belly that makes me crazy so... we'll see

Wednesday workout
Squats 5x5x190

Bench press - 5x5x125 again no problem, could be 130 on my next bench session

Inverted rows 3xF (10/8/7) +3 reps. I'm dropping the bar on my next session since these went well

Reverse crunches - 3x25 (+ 15) reps

Push ups - 3xF (8/7/6)

Cardio - 11.3 miles spinning

Stretching 10 minutes

Okay, cool stuff. I was walking down the hallway and caught one of the teachers at the fitness lab. Asked to use the body fat monitor. Last 2 times I used it , say, a year ago, I was around 33% Today I was 21%... that's normal kids... considered good even for a 45 year old male. I think, I'm going to shoot for 18% as a target, much better reference than BMI in my opinion.

Oh yeah... the new number is 243...

Lookin great cabbie! (no homo! lol)

Just scanned back a couple of posts and you look to be on track. Congrats.

Catch up with ya in a weekish!

Cheers bud!

Hey Cabbie - looking GOOOD!!! Nice to see that belly going!! And the body fat number is fantastic - really shows the different when you do things right i.e. lose weight and aim for building muscle. I think we all get focused on the lbs number to start with because we are all just so overweight and that seems the big obviously problem, then when you start to really really drop the lbs, theres a refocus to which bits are saggy, which bits are fattty, where the muscle is going on, how clothes fit, how fit you are etc... which is a step to being far more healthy long term.

Great pic and great body fat %!!! What kind of machine do they use to measure it at the fitness lab? I have a scale that measures weight, and also if you are barefoot it sends some sort of current/signal thru your body to measure % body fat and hydration levels. I've been wondering really how accurate something like that is compared to something professionals might use?

thank you for sharing the old and the new. i have not quite come up to date on your history, but enjoying your journey.

oh btw, hello mr cabbie i'm moonbeamish:waving:

i have not quite figured the site out, i will be starting my own journaling

Make sure you let me know when you get yours going. I'll be right over to say hi:waving:

Tig, the one that I used at the schoolgym is the same type in th esense that it uses electrical current, but its hand held. The best measurement is DEXA, but hardly practical for anyone but a pro athlete...

Calipers in th ehands of a professional are probably more accurate, but they neeed to know what they are doing, otherwise there is some subjectivity,. Th eBIA, current type still have a measure of error, but they are probably the best value out there.

Just jump in and tell everyone a bit about yourself by starting a new thread in the diary section. You've already done the weight loss part of your journey, now see what you want to set as a goal. Maintenance, improved health, exercise.. all good stuff, and you can rant, ogle, flirt...

BTW, kids, anyone in my diary here, this lovely lady is a personal and dear friend of mine that has joined up here so once she starts a diary :toetap05: I'd love it if people would swing by her place too.

Just been over to introduce myself to your friend :)

That challenge sounds like an interesting way to motivate people to ride. I sometimes wish I would have kept track of how far I've run each time to add it all up. Would be interesting to see what it comes out to. Guess I could always start now, right?

So what have I done today?

Pretty much nuttin... I've watched my football team lose... Ate chicken marsala.. Did get some homework done, but mostly... nuttin'..
