The New Me, miracles of modern science...

LOL!!!! This really made me chuckle as its exactly how I feel about tax! OMG I am such a geek. But to have a problem, have to take it apart, fiddle with all the bits and put it back together again to get a solution, well...what can I say...its FUN!

See, I'm that kind of geek too, but I do it with my hands (okay all you pervs... I don't mean like that). I like figuring stuff out, taking it apart, putting it back together, improving it, building it, whatever. I can see the way things work in my head. There isn't a concept out there I don't get when it comes to that kind of thing, but occasionally, advanced math, particularly in the lecture of someone difficult to listen to, ends up just flying by me. My brain kind of shuts down when I'm listening to the professor ramble on.

Moving on...

So I made a comment o Flumes about snow, and sure enough, there was sleet out there on my ride home yesterday morning. Fortunately my new snowblower was delivered today. At least if it snows the week I'm enjoying the sun in Jamaica this year, my kids will be able to clear the driveway :smilielol5:

Saturday I have to go remove the powered awning from my MIL's front porch and put it away for the winter for her, then start mulching leaves. Most of mine are finally coming down, still have a few stubborn oaks, but I can get started anyhow. And... sigh :(... it is soon going to be time to put the motorcycle away for the winter... so sad...

Cardio - 11.5 miles spinning. Jumped on one bike the same time as a student got on the other one. He asked me if I wanted to race. We started the same time, went for 25 minutes, I beat him by just under a mile. I rock! showin' up kids half my age...

WAY TO GO!!!! Isn't that a great feeling??? Whoop them young pups!

LOL at beating the student .
I'm another geek that loves maths :)
You should come and live in Mallorca. You'd get to use your bike all year. I've only known it to snow enough at sea level to settle once in the 30 years that I have lived here and it was gone by the next day. We can drive up the mountains only half and hour away to see snow but don't get it ourselves.

Hi Cabbie,
Your before and after photos are amazing! You must be feeling so much better health wise, that's a huge amount to lose.
Well done!
I read that you're into kayaking - my hubby and I are about to buy one, and I can't wait! :hurray: We have so many choice areas for kayaking around here.
I'm also a fellow rider, but just sold my ER-6 (Kawasaki).

Jess :)

Thanks for stopping by Jess!

Guess I might as well post this. It's a shot of my home made 18' kayak on top of my little nissan.

Ha ha

Great photo, and lovely looking boat.

We've got a plastic fantastic we kayak around in. Have had some great camping trips with it.

Every time I see that picture it just cracks me up. The boat looks HUGE on top of that teeny car!

So you have to put flags on the points when you are driving around with it so that people don't run into you and get a surprise?

I love your new profile photo. I don't usually like beards on men but you are definitely an exception. :D

That is one beautiful kayak, Cabbie. I am so jealous that you built it yourself - I would LOVE to build a kayak or a sailing boat - if I had the space/garage/workshop, I'd go right out and start one....

Had an outstanding work out today. Got to the gym and expected to be kicked out by the football goons, but hey, it was cardio day for them. I had the freeweights to myself!

Squats 5x5x190 (+5)

Bench press - 5x5x125 (+5) okay, I wasn't sure, because last workout I did struggle just a bit on my last rep at 120, but I figured I'd try. I did them all wihout any major issue. Go figure.

Inverted rows 3xF (8/8/6) +1 rep. As soon as I get a 10 rep set, I'll drop the bar for more resistance, not quite there yet.

Reverse crunches - 3x20

Push ups - 3xF (8/7/6) +1 rep

I followed the workout with a number of stretching exercises (pushing aside the scatter cobwebs in my yoga memories).

Thanks ladies for the compliments! I had a pretty good day today. After the workout, I went home for a shower, stood on the scale.

245... a new low, and a place I haven't ben since probably 1987.

Lol fantastic picture! Handmade? That's awesome! Now I feel like I'm cheating looking at the Australis catalogue :)

The one I'm looking to buy is a 3 metre long sit-on-top. Just a little bit more saving (dang they're pricy!) and it will be mine *rubs hands together in vulturous fashion*

Congrats on the new low Cabbie - 1987 seems like a thousand years ago to me!

Hey cabbie! Don't know why but this is my first time seeing your Diary. I must be blind because I actually looked to see if you had one. Your story and your photos are truly inspiring. I am so happy for you and your wife for making changes that will ultimately lead to a longer life lived together. Jamaica sounds interesting... hope you have lots of fun!
