Boo on sink clogs, but welcome to home ownership! Fun fact: don't put potato or carrot peelings down the dispose-all in large amounts. I learned that years ago, shared that knowledge with my wife, who immediately wrote it off as me being anal, until she tried it. Now she won't touch the dispose-all!

Thanks LaMa and Cate! Everything is fixed now, although we've got some deep cleaning to do. It ended up taking three hours for the plumber to clean out all the clogs, although we got sidetracked a bit when the toilet started spewing some really unpleasant stuff. Silver lining, the clog was in the kitchen/bath pipe, so what it was spewing could have been a lot worse.

LJ we've got a septic system so no disposal for us :( We also don't have city trash pick up so we have to take our potato and carrot feelings to the dump every Saturday. Life in a small town, man. We must have dodged a bullet in our last place because I had no idea those things cause problems!

LJ, I PMd you!

Haha, Hana, that's where all the feels go, right to the dump where they belong :) I've actually done that with the potato peels before on your recommendation. The first ones I burnt horribly but the second ones were delish.

LaMa, I'm sure we were overdue for a deep cleaning anyway, and now we're better prepared for the next mess that strikes, given all the new supplies we bought.

Well, the long weekend went much differently than expected. I did make sure I got in a run today (Monday), 3.1 miles on the treadmill. Tracked my post-dinner alone time and was either on the phone with family (Sun), cleaning (Mon) or treadmilling/letting the kitchen flood (Sat). No jump roping, but I'm not going to beat myself up about that one. I just checked and I didn't set myself up with a food goal. I got a little sneaky with some candy on Sunday, but just a piece here and there, no binging. I'm not as good about tracking my treats on the weekends, but I do know I had two drinks each of the past three nights. It's late, so I'll check in tomorrow morning for some weekday goals.

Well, it's Thursday morning and I'm not doing awesome this week. I'm in a bit of a funk and it's showed in my food choices. Tuesday night I snuck a piece of candy and a few wafer cookies and then last night my sneaky treat consisted of 870 calories worth of coconut biscuits and chocolate covered popcorn. I did measure the popcorn, so I guess that's a step up from what I used to do, but I gotta nip this in the bud now.

Thursday goals:
-20 minute walk at lunch
-Stretch/foam roll tonight (my quads are on fire from Tuesday's Cross Fit)
-Journal to my heart's content. Journaling helps my brain.

Probably not, LaMa. I take in a couple hundred calories extra right away but that's about it. And now that I'm thinking about it... I ate less than usual this weekend because of all the house stuff and then went for a run Monday night, CrossFit Tuesday morning, and a decent walk with a friend on Tuesday afternoon. Thanks for pointing that out, I'm going to try and pay more attention to my activity levels.

We have a couple boxes of Oreos in the house right now, but I'm hiding them for my own purposes. Out of sight, out of mind. Not sure if your home settings are conducive to that sort of hiding, or do you need them in the house at all?

I would expect workouts to be more efficient and recovery to be easier if you ate a bit more the last meal or two before going to the gym. Afterwards is nice but you want your body to be ready to rock.

LJ there is zero need for any of my trigger foods in the house. It's just me and G and he's a salty dude while I'm a sweet lady. I was just thinking the other day about how I buy a lot of new-to-me treats... Actually I can only think of one sweet treat that I routinely buy, and that's sweet and salty kettle corn Smart Food. Perhaps that's part of my problem, everything is always new and exciting but then I end up plowing through just to have it be done with. And then I move on to the next new treat and plow through that one, too. Interesting thoughts you've stirred up, sir.

LaMa, great point, when I was training for long distance runs I ALWAYS considered what I was going to eat the day and night before. Even though I'm not running for hours at a time anymore, I should still be thinking ahead.

Testify, sister, that's my problem, too. Not the only one, or even the worst one, but it's definitely part of problem. Gotta try a little of everything at the buffet... three plates later....
