I understand you completely. The post-dinner treats is something i have to cope with continuously. Some days i manage it but others i can't really forget these. I think that these calories are really useless and a setback on diet plan but sometimes it’s the way we are feeling maybe stress, tiredness, annoyance that lead us to post-dinner treats. However, the next morning is another day and we start again for a better daily diet program!

20k!? Well done!! that is an amazing effort!! I am knackered just thinking about it!
Ah yes, the cramps. They suck. I've been hospitalized a few times because of pain (and I have a high pain tolerance). My o/h has (quickly) learnt that to get anywhere near me at that time, to be armed with 2 hot water bottles, chocolate (sugar free), a good movie, and the strongest pain relief he can get.

Have you tried making your own icecream? Frozen bananas wizzed up are delicious! Bit of honey, dash of cinnamon = yummm! Or throw in some coconut milk, strawberries/berries. Mmm. No unwanted sugars :D

Thanks for checking in, Cate!! I'm still lurking around.... September has been a crazy busy month full of things that have thrown my eating way out of wack. I'm trying to get back into the swing of healthy routines but it's been a slow process. Today, for example, I had a carefully measured 200 calories worth of m&ms for a dessert and then was told they were giving away free ice cream in my building and all my co-workers were going to get some. I couldn't say no to that! Well, that's a lie, I could have said no... But I didn't want to :) Weight this morning was 158.8.

Hi Oaks, this is Mark. I'm new here as of yesterday and am trying to meet a few people. I wish you the best in your weight loss efforts.....feel free to visit my diary should you wish to....take care.

Hi Mark! Thanks for popping in, I'll have to go check out your diary and see how you're doing.

Well, my crazy month of way too much activity is finally DONE. Between September 6 and October 4 I had:

20K race - Slow and hilly
Overnight relay - I ran 4.5+8.9+3.4 miles for 16.8 total miles in 24 hours
Marathon walk - Walked the Boston Marathon route, which took 8.5 hours with breaks
Half marathon - Average pace of 10:25 and finally some perfect running weather

The half marathon was yesterday and I have no more events on the calendar. I'm going to give my legs a much-needed break. But now here comes the problem, I have to make sure I stop eating like I'm training for something! The drinks and desserts need to calm themselves down immediately. And there needs to be more yoga and strength training. I held a 3 year old for a while on Saturday and my arm was SORE the next day, haha. Gotta work on that arm strength for sure.

Thanks Q! I was happy with how I did, especially considering all I've put my legs through lately.

LaMa, it's been way too much, and given the chance again I'd definitely eliminate something from the calendar. But I survived!

Oaks- that is awesome! I'm amazed by how much you have done! Glad things will settle down(for a while)

Thanks Cate <3

Came home from work last night to G cooking up 3 sausages. Was a little confused because we had decided that dinner was going to be a lasagna that I had frozen some time ago. Apparently he didn't think the lasagna was going to be enough so he was supplementing. And you should have seen the amount of cheese he had added to it!! Long story short, my dinner wasn't quite healthy but man oh man was it delicious. We split a bottle of wine as well. But I had absolutely no desire for an evening snack so that was good.

I made up a couple of smoothies for today and tomorrow. Raspberries, blueberries, banana, unsweetened soy milk, and a little bit of oats and chia seeds. Now that it's fall I've been wanting to make pumpkin steel cut oats, but I need to make some room in the freezer so I can make extra. There is a LOT of fruit in there, so I guess I'll be eating lots of smoothies in the near future. That's not a bad thing!!!

Whoops! You may have to have a bit of a chat to G about trying to lose weight. Is he slim? There's a few of us living with a G. Mine loves to cook, but luckily healthily. I'm glad as it takes away a lot of temptation. The smoothies sound like a great idea. YUM!

I'm definitely that girl who will say she needs to lose ten pounds but then will go out for beer and nachoes on a Wednesday. There will always be another caloric temptation in life, I've gotta figure out how to deal with them even when they are right in front of me. Last night I could have (1) politely declined the sausage (2) taken half the amount of lasagna and (3) supplemented MY meal with the carrots and peppers we have in the fridge. But as we all know, knowing what to do and doing it are entirely different things.

:D I like how candid you are, no use lying to ourselves. If you think it´s worth eating: enjoy it. Otherwise: take the carrots :p

:iagree: I like the fact that you are honest too, but ...sausages? Sausages are not real food.....xoC

Sausages are a food group to themselves! If you want to get to know a new cuisine the things you want to know is what they can do with veg and what kind of sausages they make.

It's a beautiful Saturday here in New England. I'm drinking a pumpkin spice chai latte with soy milk, at a total of 130 calories. Coffee is one thing I'm good about keeping plain and simple, so this is a special treat. It's also a long weekend for me, for Columbus Day. As a Native American I'm not really supposed to celebrate Columbus but hey, I'll take the day off.

I've taken quite a few days off of running but I'm ready to get back into it. And I'm starting to feel the aches and pains associated with inactivity which is BAD. It's really bad when you're sore from doing nothing. I think some yoga will be on my schedule for the day.

And wow did the yoga show just how tight my shoulders are! I'll be doing some extra stretching tonight for sure. And icing my foot, I've got some recurring pain there that had eased up for a few days but came back to say hi. I'm quite the Saturday night party animal, woooo :)
