Alright, how did I do with my Friday through Sunday goals?

-Make an attempt at P90X yoga Fail. I put it off until Sunday night and by then I was exhausted.
-Do pushups one day Success! Did them on Sunday afternoon.
-Only alcohol allowed is a lychee juice with vodka to go with our planned sushi dinner on Saturday Technically a fail, but I drank much less than a normal weekend. I had two drinks with lychee juice and vodka on Saturday, and two shots (hours apart) on Sunday of a liquor that you top with cream. We rarely have cream in the house, so we took advantage of the fact that we did.
-Run a total of 9 miles, in any combination I choose Success! 1 + 5.75 + 2.25 = 9

Day 14 - 2.25 miles in 24:53

New week, new goals. Monday through Thursday this time. Here's what I'm thinking:

1) Record everything I eat and drink
2) Do pushups one day
3) Stretch 3 out of the 4 days
4) Make it to work on time twice

Regarding number 4, I'm almost always 10 to 15 minutes late to work, and it's not a trait of mine that I'm particularly fond of. I am energized in the morning and tend to try to fit in chores before heading off to work, which means that I could wake up at 5:30 and still not be able to get out of the house before 8. And trust me when I say I'm not spending that time on hair or makeup!

Monday Recap:

Breakfast: Smoothie
Lunch: Salad with chicken, and some dried persimmons
Snack: Almonds and a banana
Dinner: Salad, with 2 glasses of sangria
Snack 1: 1.5 oz of Goldfish crackers
Snack 2: 1 cup of ice cream, 2 oreos

Exercise: Day 15 - 3.35 miles with the co-workers in 37:13

Snack #2 was emotional eating that occurred after midnight. Did it make me feel better? Not in the slightest.

Tuesday Recap:

Breakfast: Grape nuts and a banana
Lunch: PBJ + 2 oz Cheez-Its
Snack: Dried persimmons
Dinner: Tuna sandwich with cheese and mayo
Snack: Mochi (200 cals) (sneaky)

Exercise: Day 16 - 2.75 miles with the co-workers, in an unknown time (Runkeeper says 27:05 which is way too fast. I think because of the "auto pause" feature that I turned on recently. It's off now.)

I am SO happy that today (Wednesday) I will only be running ONE SINGLE MILE. The past 4 days of running really took it out of me. Over 14 miles in 4 days. But the very last bit of yesterday's run was awesome because my faster-than-me co-worker, who runs farther than the rest of us and times it so she can meet us at the end, passed me with a little more than a 1/4 mile left so chasing her gave me a good reason to finish hard.

Wednesday Recap:

Breakfast: Smoothie
Lunch: Overnight oats and a banana
Snack 1: Roasted seaweed, cheese stick, and a tiny brownie (bite size)
Snack 2: Boba tea (from a food truck... so disappointing)
Dinner: Pulled pork with a side of cucumbers and avocado, with one glass of sangria
Snack: Dark chocolate covered almonds (sneaky)

Exercise: Day 17 - 1 mile in 10:17

The sneaky eating seems to be creeping back in, so I need to focus on getting rid of that habit. I was pumped when I took a little detour on the way home from work and stumbled upon a bubble tea truck. Unfortunately, I didn't really know what to order because I've only had it when my Vietnamese friend has gotten it for me, so what I got was just blah. No idea on the calories, either, hopefully it wasn't too bad because it definitely wasn't worth it.

Thursday Recap:

Breakfast: Grape nuts and a banana
Lunch: Pulled pork with saltine crackers, with homemade fruit leather for dessert
Snack 1: Chocolate covered almonds (roughly 250 cals)
Dinner: Tuna steak with broccoli
Booze: 22 oz of beer + 1 oz of apple pie schnapps (not together)

Exercise: Day 18 - 2.25 miles in 24:46, plus my pushups and a few minutes of other random exercises.

Also, since it's Friday let's see how I did with goals. Monday through Thursdays goals were to:

1) Record everything I eat and drink Success!
2) Do pushups one day Success! Did the last night
3) Stretch 3 out of the 4 days Fail! Only stretched twice, Tuesday and Thursday
4) Make it to work on time twice Fail! Only got to work on time on Monday

Whew, I just avoided a bad craving for a donut. I was trying to convince myself that it was Friday and I deserved a treat. Yeah, well, I started off last Friday with a donut and couldn't stop craving sweets all day!

Speaking of sweets, the G man came home from the store yesterday with peanut butter cup Oreos. I'm still trying to avoid sneaky-eating the rest of the S'mores Oreos, wahhhh. We don't regularly buy Oreos (or any other prepackaged cookies) but we do end up trying new flavors once. We're definitely who the marketers are targeting.... New flavor! Limited time only! Get it while it lasts!

Out of curiosity, what kind of job do you have that allows you to be late so often and it not be a problem? I've never really understood the idea of being late for things like jobs or appointments. I'm sometimes late to hang out with friends or something that I don't NEED to be there right on time, but work or appointments I am there on time. I know how horrible it is for me when one of my clients is late, even just 5-10 mins, that I couldn't imagine doing it to another professional.
I saw some of those new fangled oreo's at the grocery store the other day. I can't remember which flavor it was, but it wasn't really tempting. There are other things I'd rather spend my cals on!
Great job on the running!

Mystic, it's a 9-5 office job, I'm an accountant for a private equity firm. When I get in I just turn on my computer and start working by myself, so no one is waiting on me for anything. On the off chance I have a nine am meeting I get in on time because it would affect other people, but that's very rare. All that matters is that I get my work done by the time people expect it, and working an exact 9 to 5 schedule every day isn't the secret to getting projects done.

Sometimes I wouldn't mind a job like that, though without a need to be on time I could see myself coming later and later then rushin like crazy to get stuff done!

Let's hope you don't put those in your shopping cart instead of Grape Nuts, Jen! We actually haven't opened them yet so I can't vouch for the tasty levels. I'll be sure to keep it to myself when I do :)

Well, I made it 21 days of running before breaking my streak. The day after a four hour hike up and down a mountain I went for a two mile run that left my inner knee in instant pain. It kept locking up that night and I decided not to risk it and took the next couple of days off. The streak was great for me in the winter when it was my sole source of motivation. But now I've got mountain hiking, trail running, group runs, and long distance race training that I'm focusing on, and giving myself breaks is going to be necessary to keep my healthy and sane. I'm planning a run on Thursday morning, so we'll see how I feel afterwards.

Well hello there Q!! I'm still around, still running but not really doing anything else to improve my health. I was starting to feel like I didn't have much to contribute so I've just been lurking. Kept thinking maybe eventually I'd start focusing on losing some pounds but I can't say that I have.

The running has been going well, I've been building up my mileage. After taking it easy for a few weeks my knee was fine, and no other issues have popped up. I did an easy-paced eight miles yesterday. Temp was 79 by the end, I was beat. Drank more than 20 oz of water during it, and managed to make my last mile the fastest one. I'm training for an overnight relay that is two months away, and am hoping to do a half marathon as my final training run for it.

Glad to see you´re still with us at least! By the way: I´d be interested to hear about your training progress even if you´re not trying to lose weight right now.

Thanks, LaMa! I'm around, I'll try to be a little more active. Be patient with me while I get back into the swing of things.

One of the bloggers I follow does a High Low High post every now and then to describe her weekends, so I thought maybe I'd do that here to describe recent times.

High I hit twenty total miles of running last week! That's a fun accomplishment.

Low It's summer. I have no use for summer. Humidity is a beast and I happen to be a pretty sweaty creature, which means I carry paper towels around with me even in the morning to wipe my face. I spend most of my time at home hiding in our one room with an air conditioning unit. Lazy days ahead!

High My company had a 2 day/2 night event at the end of last month and it was so much fun. Bonding with co-workers into the wee hours of the morning is entertaining, to say the least. We all get along so well, and enjoying their company makes it so much easier to get my job done.

Low I was a little hungover yesterday. So dehydrated, and the drinking messed with my sleep so when I woke up at 4:22 incredibly thirsty I wasn't able to get back to sleep. I crashed hard last night.

High All three of my bosses are on vacation next week! This week will be stressful trying to finish up some important stuff before they all take off, but next week is going to be VERY peaceful.
