The Juice Project

Lol I use just a few sprigs, and I hardly taste it. It's so good for you, you should give it another chance :)

It's been 38 days since I started this project so I guess I'm losing roughly 1lb every two days. My boyfriend lost 30 in the same amount of time. I'm so jealous! Lol Whatever, I'm just happy that I only have 40 lbs to lose now, not 60, Yippee!!

1st Juice of the day - carrot, apple, orange, parsley, cucumber, grapefruit, flax

Sugarbear - that's incredible. I never would have thought there was such a HUGE difference between organic and regular. It must be the soil. Corporate food companies are raping their soil and there's just not enough nutrients left. It's a sad state we're in when we can't even rely on our fruits and vegetables to provide us with the nutrients we need.

Long weekend of entertaining house guests is over! I had a great few days eating like a normal person again, including corned beef and cabbage, gypsy chicken and mash, huevos rancheros, and even a slice of pizza, but now I have to get back on track and lose the next 20 lbs. I'm going to New Orleans in a month and I want to fit back into a few of my cuter garments for my nights out on the town. I've decided to wait a week before weighing myself so I don't feel guilty about any weight gained. Sometimes you just gotta live

:beerchug:

Okay I did it. I weighed myself even though I knew all the beer and indulgent food would take a few days to expel, but it wasn't too bad. I'm at 176 now, so my next goal is 156. I started the day with leftover huevos rancheros (I couldn't help myself) but plan to have juice from now on. I really need to hit up the supermarket because I'm all stocked on fruits, but need more veggies. Here's to the new goal - I can do it!!!

1st juice - carrot, pear, kale, orange &b flax

2nd juice - carrot, grape, kale, apple & flax

1st juice - carrot, apple, grapefruit, orange, cucumber, flax

Lunch - egg whites on whole wheat flat bread with baby spinach, roasted tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, garlic and smear of pesto

2nd juice - carrot, pear, celery, kale, flax

Dinner - brown rice, steamed veggies, Asian style shrimp

No I'm sure interested to do juicing.....it all sounds very yummy. When I'm off Cohen, I'll do this. There is this cleanse called Juju Cleanse. Google it, sounds interesting too.

I am now incorporating more food into my diet like whole wheat bread, egg whites, shrimp, & brown rice. It's still important to me to juice but it's been over 40 days of a mostly liquid diet and I feel like it's time to shake things up. I'm really enjoying cooking again and am conscious about not using butter and using little to no salt. Fresh ground pepper is my new best friend, and fresh garlic and onions. I even got fresh mozzarella because I really resent processed foods right now.

I hate to admit this, but I had a craving for a McDonalds crispy chicken club sandwich today (my old favorite) but I went home and made egg whites on whole wheat flat bread instead. Then I took a brisk walk around the lake 2x (around 1 hour) and lifted some weights. Screw you, McDonalds!

I really like where I'm at right now. After years of indulgent and careless eating, I'm finally on a good path of healthy eating. Drinking juice day and night really makes you appreciate solid food! Having a salad with kidney beans, beets, tomatoes, carrots and onions is like a 6-layer chocolate cake to me now. And honestly, thinking about that chocolate cake does nothing for me. I'm so glad I did this reboot and am excited for the next 20 lb drop!

Mm I'm hungry. Time for a juice!

Hi Sugarbear! Gypsy Chicken is AMAZING! It's herb stuffed chicken with melted Swiss and a light mushroom sauce. It came with red cabbage, broccoli and mashed potatoes on the side. Unbelievably tasty

Wow Wild - JuJu recipes look really interesting! I'll have to try some of them. It looks like it's only available for delivery to the Philippines though. Is that where you are?

SO wanted a brown rice and black bean mini burrito but I'm opting for a juice instead. Carb overload averted!

1st juice - carrot apple, pear, cantaloupe, celery, parsley, orange & flax

Lunch - egg whites with onion, whole wheat flat bread, spinach, roasted tomatoes with garlic, fresh mozz

2nd juice - pear, carrot, cucumber, orange

3rd juice - carrot, apple, celery, sweet potato, orange, kale

Ahi star, my friend did the juju cleanse for one day and she loved it (im from singapore) i love fruit juice but not too big a fan of veggie juices. prefer to eat my veggies. my boss did juice fast for 15days before and he lost 15lbs instantly. men just lose weight effortlesslt! unfair! haha...

172.8 - woohoo! Back on track from St Patty's weekend. Started the day with eggs, brown rice and black beans. SO tasty with Emeril's ranchero sauce recipe

Wild - I'm the same way. I can't just have an all veggie juice, I need to incorporate fruits to make it tasty. Let me know how the JuJu fast goes :)

Oh man I am being naughty today. While out and about, we stopped into Monkey's Uncle Bar and had three beers and garlic parmesan wings and we have a vegetarian pizza on the way with black olives, garlic, tomatoes, mushrooms, green pepper, & onions. Terrible... I know!

I took another brisk walk today, it feels good to get my heart rate up

In an attempt to rectify yesterday's fun day, I started with a brisk morning walk 3x around the lake and lifted hand weights. My boyfriend's been walking with me, which is much nicer than walking alone. My calves are really feeling the burn!

We are going to a screening tonight at a great local restaurant of a new tv show he worked on and are planning to indulge in some pulled pork mac n cheese. Sounds delectable :drool5: After tonight, it's back to our diet until we hit New Orleans next month. I have some seasoned pinto beans that I'm just dying to put in a salad!

1st juice - carrot, cucumber, celery, grapefruit, beet, apple & flax

2nd juice - cantaloupe, cucumber, orange, celery, carrot, apple & flax

3rd juice - carrot, apple, grapefruit, cucumber, pear & flax

Dinner - Pulled pork mac n cheese!!!!!

I'm sorry, but pulled pork is worth being fat for hahahaha

As long as you find a way to offset those rich indulgent dishes with your juicing, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Wild - it was worth EVERY bite!! Lol Although I think I'm going to wait a few days before weighing myself again :piggy:

1st juice - carrot, grapefruit, celery, beet, parsley, flax, orange

Exercise #1- brisk walk around the lake 2x

I love my morning walks just before the Florida heat fully kicks in. I love the sun on my shoulders and the occasional spray of water blowing by on the wind from the fountains. Everything is just waking up and the smells of earth and plants are so soothing to me. I love hearing all the birds and watching the little geckos hurry off the path as I go by. Since it's spring I sometimes see a mama duck with her nine little babies, they are so cute!

Exercise #2 - Handweights

2nd juice - carrot, orange, apple, cabbage, spinach, (leftover beet and cantaloupe bits) & flax

Lunch - shrimp sauteed with garlic & onion, black bean soup and salad with carrots and celery

3rd juice - carrot, celery, cantaloupe, orange & flax

AHey Starlillies! Thanks for stopping by my dairy:)

I applaud you on your juice diet - sounds very healthy! I tried to do a juice fast once, buuuuuut I quit after 12 days, it definitely was not for me... although I did manage to take off 20lbs... and actually keep it off for a while too. Maybe I would have been more successful had I added in regular meals like you are - seems like its really working for you!! Keep it up!!

AI'm glad that you found something that is working for you. I do own a juicer, but I only really used it for the first couple of weeks after I bought it. I like making juice with it, but I feel bad for wasting all of the pulp that is left over... I also feel like I should be eating the pulp for fiber and stuff. I also don't like to do a lot of fruits or starchy veggies like carrots because I've found that I consume a lot more of them, and the sugar content is really high, and sugar/simple carbs makes me pack on pounds like WHAT. I definitely like your idea of having big glasses of water in the morning... my boyfriend always tells me I would sleep better if I were better hydrated, so I sleep with a glass near by bed and try and chug one before I go to sleep... but one in the morning sounds good. I always bring a tea with me in the car, so that counts... for something.

Also, I am a semi-vegetarian... I buy meat replacers whenever it's convenient... I use garden burger, Trader Joes, Morningstar, Gimme Lean, and whatever else I see in the vegetarian aisle because I really do like meat, but it's often fewer calories.. especially if it's a cook out or something and I want to eat a brat. Some of the vegetarian brats are SO GOOD and they have 1/3 the calories of regular pork brats. I also replace a lot of protein in meals with lentils, garbanzo beans, black beans, great northern beans, tofu, and eggs because it's cheaper. However, I don't scorn meat or anything, like we have a packet of ham in the fridge and I'll eat it on my breakfast sandwich until it's gone, but I won't buy more (it's from when my mom housesat for us... she likes sandwiches). But if I go out to dinner, I'd rather have a simple steak and some steamed veggies because then at least I know it's not some crazy pasta with fat-filled sauce for a zillion calories. Really it's more of a cost-cutting thing.. it's cheaper to put lentils in spaghetti sauce than ultra lean ground beef... or it's cheaper to have hardboiled eggs and vegetables for lunch than a sandwich with meat and processed breads.

It's amazing to me when I am craving pasta or something, I will weigh out 112g of whole-wheat pasta (2 servings, one for me, one for the BF) and start cooking it.. and then I will make a vegetable to go on top or in the sauce.. I throw whatever I want in there.. zucchinis, onion, spinach, kale, mushrooms, artichoke, bell peppers, sliced carrots, lentils, etc. and then I mix everything evenly together and it makes the BIGGEST PORTION EVER. I am always happy when I make that, because I love to eat until I'm full, especially on rest days when I like to get full and lazy, and I can eat and eat for almost no calories... 200 for the serving of pasta, then maybe 75 for all the veggies combined and 100 for the tomato sauce.. plus a sprinkle of parmesan on top. Greatest. meal. ever.

Exercise - brisk walk around the lake 2x - I went even earlier today and the air was cool and the smoke on the water was so pretty

1st juice - carrot, pear, cucumber, grapefruit & flax

Lunch - egg white on whole wheat flat bread, spinach, tomatoes, garlic & onion

I think these walks are really doing me good. My overall figure seems tighter despite the amount of weight it's carrying. I REALLY want to break into the 160's this week.

Fingers crossed!

Sparked - thanks for your encouragement! It means a lot. Doing a 12 day fast is impressive, some people wouldn't even get past 2 days! It's a really great way to clean out your system and start fresh.

Chelsea - Mmmm brats! What brand are the veggie ones you like? I hear you about the beans. They are SO good for us, I try to incorporate them in my salads as much as possible. I'm on a mostly vegetarian diet and it's working so far. Whenever I have meat it takes a few days to get it out of my system and that's a bummer.

I've been looking for vegetable dishes to make soon that I'm excited about, like malai kofta and moroccan squash & carrot stew. I'll probably have them with 1/2 cup of brown rice, but that shouldn't break the bank
